The case studies below provide you with an opportunity to critically analyze events that are taking place in real-life businesses. This helps to develop your critical thinking and research skills as you research each of these scenarios. You will review each case study, and provide a thorough analysis of each that demonstrates critical thinking and application of the concepts presented in Units I and II.

In Chapter 1 of your eTextbook, read the case study “UPS Competes Globally with Information Technology,” and write an analysis that addresses the following:

• How does UPS use information systems technology to achieve its strategic goals of being more efficient and customer oriented?
• What would happen if the automated package tracking system was not available?
• Discuss how globalization has “flattened” the world.

In Chapter 2 of your eTextbook, read the case study “The City of Mississauga Goes Digital” and write an analysis that addresses the following:

• Describe the problems the City of Mississauga hoped to address using digital technology.
• What technologies did Mississauga employ for a solution? Describe each of these technologies and the role each played in a solution.
• What management, organization, and technology issues did the City of Mississauga have to address in developing a solution?

In Chapter 4 of your eTextbook, read the case study Your Smartphone: Big Brother’s Best Friend and write an analysis that addresses the following:

• Explain emerging technologies business. Describe how new technology trends may cause ethical dilemmas.

You have been provided with a dataset from the Ministry of Transportation in Argentina, which lists the number of passengers entering and leaving Argentina via ferry companies on a daily basis.

Your task is to use appropriate statistical tools (such as a t-test, paired test, or any other relevant test) to determine whether more passengers are entering or leaving Argentina on average. You should calculate the necessary metrics (e.g., mean, standard deviation) and conduct the statistical test to draw a conclusion based on the data. Case: Passenger traffic in and out of Argentina is recorded in a dataset. One must determine whether more people enter Argentina or leave on each boat to identify a marketing strategy for the port and boats billboards. As a business owner, you need to recognize all the factors to either avoid them or plan for them. Please conduct a SWOT Analysis of your business. You will need to review chapter 6 to find the SWOT Analysis figure 6-3 in your textbook. Under each category you will have a minimum of 5 items. You can post a table, or you may use bullet points under each category, but images and graphics should not be included. If you do research online, you MUST include your search results as references in APA format and embed each reference in your discussion. Also, share how each item will be important in your business (thus your business plan). You will need to address these questions:

For each of the following scenarios, state whether you believe litigation, ADR, or criminal prosecution is the appropriate response and explain your answer, citing information from the textbook as support for your positions.

1. Adele is a secretary for her company. As part of her responsibilities, she can write checks for the purchase of office supplies. One week, she is short on cash and may not have enough money to buy groceries for herself and her daughter. She writes a check out to herself, intending only to do this once and reimburse the account. She never does, though, and finds herself in a similar situation a few weeks later. This happens several times and Adele ends up taking a large amount of money from the account. Eventually, the accounting manager discovers a discrepancy and confronts Adele, who admits to writing checks to herself.

2.Robert has purchased a doll from a large, multinational company for his infant daughter. His daughter enjoys playing with the toy. However, several weeks after getting the doll, the Robert’s daughter pulls one of the dolls fingers. She puts it in her mouth and swallows it. The doll’s finger blocks her airways. Robert rushes her to the hospital. Doctor’s are able to remove the doll’s finger, but not before lack of oxygen causes brain damage to Robert’s daughter, resulting in extensive medical bills and a heavily impaired quality of life for the little girl.

3.ABC Company has ordered several thousand light bulbs from XYZ Company. ABC ordered specialty light bulbs to be used in special heating lamps they produce. These lamps require 250 watt bulbs, but XYZ sends 150 watt bulbs. The mistake delays the shipment of several thousand heating lamps, resulting in losses to ABC Company.

The paper should be 12-point font, Times New Roman, and include a list of any outside sources used.
