  • Summative Assessment: Communication Strategy

PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND FOLLOW TO THE T. THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT PARTS TO ASSIGNMENT:

As the recently appointed communications associate for a youth sports organization, you manage the flow of information between athletes, families, and coaches. The sports associations have been impacted by parents trying to influence coaches to obtain lead positions on teams, sparking concern among other parents about the fairness of assignments and how each participant will be able to experience the full range of positions and develop equally. It is your organizations policy to give each participant an opportunity to rotate through all positions and provide the best chance to develop well-rounded skills.

You have been tasked with creating a communication strategy addressing the rotational schedule and policy of the organization to ensure that all participants can play each position and develop their skills. This strategy should cultivate trust, reinforce the program’s culture of commitment to safety and skill development, and build organizational support to maintain and potentially increase program participation.

After a lengthy discussion with coaches and league coordinators, you decide on a three-pronged approach to communicate strategically. Youll draft 1) a detailed email to families, 2) a town hall meeting agenda, and 3) an engaging social media post to promote the organization and its commitment to safety and skill development.

    Assessment Deliverable

Create a 3-piece communication strategy to build support for your youth sports organization. All 3 parts should be written in 1 document.

To complete this assessment, specify a group sport of your choice, such as soccer, basketball, pickleball, softball, baseball, etc. Selecting a sport allows you to address specific issues.

    Part 1: Email

Compose a 175- to 350-word email to families currently enrolled in the program. This message should:

    • Acknowledge the broader concerns within the youth sports industry.
    • Outline 3 safety measures and 3 ethical standards your program has in place for childrens skill development in your specific sport.
    • Reinforce the programs unwavering commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment.
    • Invite open communication, offering channels for feedback and concerns.
    • Announce the town hall meeting and how this can support the community.

Part 2: Agenda of Town Hall Meeting

Write a 1-page agenda outline of items to discuss during the town hall meeting with the local community. The agenda should highlight how your team will communicate with the community to reinforce the program’s commitment to safety, skill development for your specified sport, and build organizational support.

Review the resources listed under Assessment Support for guidance.

    Part 3: Social Media Post

Draft a social media post for a platform of your choice, aimed at the broader community, including prospective program participants. You do not need to publish the post online. This draft post should do the following:

    • Highlight the core values and commitments of your program to safety, integrity, and support.
    • Showcase testimonials or stories from participants and families that reflect the positive impact of your program.
    • Encourage dialogue and invite questions and discussions from the public.
    • Follow best practices for the platform; posts are typically 12 sentences or 15 seconds of audio or video.

Assemble your email, outline, and social media post into a single document. If you choose to draft the social media post in a platform, take a screenshot of your draft and add it as an image at the bottom of your document.

Cite all sources according to APA guidelines.

    Submit your assessment.
