    ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW

    The Diversity Factors Plan challenges you to develop a comprehensive strategy for managing diversity, equity, and inclusion in an international project context. As a future project manager or business leader, you will be expected to create environments where diverse teams can thrive and where cultural differences become a source of innovation rather than conflict.

    This assignment asks you to think critically about real-world challenges associated with managing global, culturally diverse teams and to propose evidence-based solutions grounded in course concepts and scholarly research.

    LEARNING OBJECTIVES

    Through this assignment, you will:

    ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

    You will create a Diversity Factors Plan for a hypothetical project, or a real project from your professional experience if relevant. The project must involve team members from at least three different countries or cultural regions.

    Your plan should be written as a professional document that could realistically be presented to organizational leadership or used by project managers to guide their approach to managing diversity.

    REQUIRED COMPONENTS

    Your 57 page Diversity Factors Plan must include the following sections.

    1. Executive Summary (approximately 12 page)

    • Brief overview of the project and its international scope
    • Summary of key DEI challenges identified
    • High-level overview of your recommended approach

    2. Project Context (approximately 1 page)

    • Description of the project, including purpose, scope, timeline, and deliverables
    • Team composition, including countries or regions represented, roles, and work arrangements (virtual, hybrid, in-person)
    • Organizational context and any relevant constraints
    • You may use a real project with appropriate anonymization or create a realistic scenario

    3. Diversity Analysis (approximately 1.52 pages)

    • Identification and analysis of key dimensions of diversity present on the team, such as cultural, linguistic, professional, and generational factors
    • Application of at least two cultural frameworks, such as Hofstede, Meyer, or Hall, to analyze potential areas of cultural difference or conflict
    • Discussion of specific challenges related to:
    • Communication styles and language barriers
    • Approaches to time, deadlines, and scheduling
    • Power distance and hierarchy expectations
    • Decision-making and conflict resolution preferences
    • Trust-building and relationship development across cultures
    • Consideration of both visible and invisible dimensions of diversity

    4. DEI Strategy and Action Plan (approximately 22.5 pages)

    Present a comprehensive strategy for managing diversity and fostering inclusion. Your plan should include specific, actionable initiatives organized under the following categories.

    A. Team Formation and Onboarding

    • How the team will be structured to leverage diversity
    • Orientation, onboarding, or team-building activities

    B. Communication Protocols

    • Communication norms and guidelines
    • Strategies for addressing language differences and ensuring clarity
    • Technology or tools that support inclusive communication

    C. Inclusive Leadership Practices

    • How inclusive behavior will be modeled
    • Strategies to ensure all voices are heard
    • Approaches to addressing unconscious bias

    D. Conflict Prevention and Resolution

    • Proactive measures to prevent cultural misunderstandings
    • Processes for addressing conflict when it arises

    E. Equity and Fairness

    • Strategies to ensure equitable participation and recognition

    5. Success Metrics and Evaluation (approximately 121 page)

    6. Conclusion (approximately 12 page)

    • Summary of key recommendations
    • Reflection on anticipated implementation challenges
    • Discussion of the expected benefits of the proposed approach

    RESEARCH AND CITATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Use at least five scholarly or professional sources, such as peer-reviewed journal articles, the course textbook, Harvard Business Review articles, or reputable industry publications
    • Cite all sources using APA 7th Edition format
    • Include a References page, which is not counted in the 57 page limit
    • Integrate sources thoughtfully into your analysis rather than simply summarizing them

    FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS

    • Length: 57 pages, excluding title page and references
    • Font: 12-point Times New Roman
    • Spacing: Double-spaced
    • Margins: 1 inch on all sides
    • Include a title page with the paper title, your name, course information, and date
