    Political Ads Strategies Analyst

Your role would be to answer the question:

What kinds of strategies were used in political advertising during this election? How were these ad strategies similar or different from the political ads in the US?

Analyze the advertising strategies used by the candidates and parties in the chosen country, Use data from website, and to search through the political ads in your assigned country. BE SURE TO ONLY SEARCH FOR ADS POSTED BEFORE THE ELECTION DATE. Compare these strategies to those commonly used in US political campaigns during 2024 Presidential elections. You will prepare a report with the following three sections:

    1. Section 1: Political ads description:
    2. In a table, list 6 advertisements per key political party/candidate in the election (up to 3 candidates/parties). These ads can be randomly selected. Describe the content in each ad. Use the data reported by the websites linked above to summarize advertising details like the amount of money spent on these ads, the platforms on which they were advertised (like Facebook, YouTube, Google Search, etc.), the number of times these ads were seen, and the target demographics for these ads.
    3. Section 2: Key advertising strategies in the election:
    4. In a separate table, list the same advertisements as in Section 1, and for each ad analyze the ad strategies being used. Based on this analysis, for each key political candidate or party in the election, summarize what kind of strategy was used by them to persuade voters. Apply the ad strategies discussed in lectures and readings!
    5. Section 3: Comparison with the US:
    6. In the same way as you did in Section 2, list and describe at least 3 ads by Democrats and 3 ads by Republicans during the 2024 Presidential election, and the ad strategies used by them.
    7. Draw a comparison between the ad strategies used in the US with those used in your assigned country. Based on your analysis, to what extent do you think these ads influenced election results in both countries? Compare, and explain. If election results are not announced in your assigned country, speculate about the effect of those ads. Draw and substantiate with evidence at least two similarities and at least two differences.

  • Rhetorical Essay

Provide a detailed and well-researched analysis of the following speech:

Schneider, A. (2024, July). Work is broken. Gen Z can help fix it [Video]. TEDxFargo.

With a critical lens and in-depth reference to the course readings on classical rhetoric from Module 3, conduct a 1,5002,000 word rhetorical analysis of a selected TED talk. Your analysis must be framed using the five canons of rhetoric, with particular emphasis on how these elements interplay to influence the effectiveness of the speech.

    Requirements

Thesis Statement: Your introduction must present a clear, well-defined thesis that evaluates the overall rhetorical success or failure of the speech, establishing a specific argument about its impact.

Analytical Focus: While you are not required to analyze all five canons, your selection of the canons should be strategic and thoroughly justified, demonstrating how they contribute to your overarching thesis. Consider both the structural composition of the speech and the speakers memory and delivery, particularly in how they align with or detract from the persuasive goals of the speech. You must include insights on the three proofs, logos, pathos and ethos (as applicable to the speech).

Engagement with Sources:Your analysis must incorporate at least two of the secondary scholarly sources listed below, alongside the course textbook, to substantiate your argument. These sources should be integrated meaningfully, either to contextualize your analysis, draw comparisons with other rhetorical studies, or engage with contemporary debates about the relevance of classical rhetoric in modern public speaking.

APA Citations: All sources, including the textbook, must be cited in proper APA style. Use the textbook specifically for defining and contextualizing key rhetorical terms, ensuring that your analysis is grounded in the classical framework.

Critical Reflection: Beyond mere description, your paper should critically engage with the TED talk, offering a nuanced assessment of its rhetorical strategies. Consider how the interplay of invention, arrangement, style, memory, and delivery either strengthens or weakens the speakers persuasive efforts.

  • Short Essay

    Short Essay Assignment

The short essay is a 2-page (double spaced and 12-point font size) analysis of the quality of a persuasive campaign website.

The essay asks you to choose and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of a persuasive campaign.

Please choose one website from the below categories:

    Commercial: (I choose this one)

You will only examine one website and its contents. Please focus on the main contents including texts, images, and videos.

Your task is to provide your evaluation of the campaign. This will require you to examine the webpage contents carefully and write a short essay on its strengths and weaknesses. Your essay should use what you have learned about persuasion to describe what is strong and why; and to describe what is weak — and especially what is missing — in terms of message and communication strategies in successful persuasion.

First, you will write a short paragraph addressing the following questions: (1) What problem does the persuasion campaign target? (2) Who are the potential interested target audiences (*describe the target audiences characteristics, such as demographics, socioeconomic status, ideology, education backgrounds, interests, etc.)?

Then, you will delve into analyzing the persuasive messaging. A well written and well received essay will include: (1) Two elements of the webpage that are likely to be particularly effective in fulfilling the persuasive goal. Justifying your statements of support from your knowledge and that of other experts (that is from class lectures and/or readings) will be crucial to establishing your credibility and quality in writing. (2) One messaging strategies that are missing from the webpage that you think the organization should be aware of in their messaging. Here you will likely go beyond the existing contents to include other messaging elements. Once again, the credibility and persuasiveness of your essay will hinge on citing messaging elements that have an established base in research and theory (that is, from lecture or readings).

In general, the more sources employed from both reading and lecture, the better your essay will be. An essay that draws all elements from a single reading or lecture will be considered inadequate.

    Notes:

    • No formal reference or citation is required. However, you may include any reference or citation if you like.
    • You can go beyond 2 pages a little bit (e.g., 3-5 more sentences, a short paragraph).

Above is the requirement of the essay, I attached all the class powerpoint and readings below for the use in essay. You can choose the concepts from these readings and lecture powerpoint to apply on the essay.

  • Interview Analysis

Download the attached file. Set up a time to interview someone in your life. Consider family members, coworkers, partners, or friends.

The interview will concern their occupation and should take about 10 minutes to complete. While interviewing your subject, you should not only listen carefully to their answers, but also observe how they look and sound while they are answering. You do not have to record the interview, but you may find it very helpful to do so.

When the interview is complete, record a 35-minute summary of the interview. Discuss their answers to the questions. What details did they provide about each question? Were there details you would have liked for them to include? Did the information seem honest? Do they appear to have a lot of experience about this topic? Include as much as you can of what they discussed and your impressions of it.

You should also include your impressions of your interview subject as well. Did they appear comfortable answering questions? Did their answers seem thoughtful, or were they rushed? Did they appear nervous? Again, include as much detail as you can.

  • Portfolio

Im a business major Im a sophomore in college at Cerritos community college I have kids and a fiance I live in Long Beach ca everything else you can just make up to filling for there portfolio intragfer to cal state Long Beach fall if pass classes

For your Personal Branding Assignment, you will be creating your own e-Portfolio. This ePortfolio will be designed by you, using a rationale of your choice based upon your expected portfolio needs. For example, for those of you going into medical fields, you might find it beneficial to create a branding portfolio for yourself that contains personal information to market and sell yourself in the field, but also creative examples of the types of ePortfolios that might be associated with patients in your future. Interactive design and art students might choose to include examples of art projects and web page designs. Computer information and technology students might incorporate examples of coding, systems designs, or models. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to design your ePortfolio, but it does need to be on an online, shareable portfolio site, such as Google Sites, Wix.com, or the Canvas e-portfolio system. What you should focus on is what you want to present and how you can best present that information.

The following are some examples of student ePortfolios posted by various colleges and universities. Browsing through these examples can help you get an idea of what materials you wish to include in your ePortfolio. Be aware, these include students at all levels of educational and work experience. You should choose what to include based on your own needs. These are just examples.

Do not attempt to use standard social media communication sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or even some business-oriented sites such as LinkedIn. These sites are not designed to construct portfolios and will conflict with your presentation goals. Some e-Portfolios online you might find are built in PowerPoint or Prezi. These are also not recommended as they can be problematic for audiences to view effectively.

    Don’t Forget

    • Submit the draft of your portfolio here. This should include the reflection you’ve completed based on your personal goals and anything else that may be relevant.
    • Be sure to upload a link to the actual e-Portfolio site. And make sure the site can be publicly viewed or viewed “by anyone with a link.” Zipped files and paper drafts are not acceptable.
    • Remember, the assignments in this module are NOT skippable.
