Assignment Objective
To collaborate with your small group and determine one communication concept and/or theory to research.
Assignment Instructions
- Find two research articles that pertain to the chosen communication concept and the theory. These research articles MUST be an academic research paper, meaning it is scholarly and peer-reviewed. Please use the MCC library to do your research.
- Read all materials in the module that reflect primary research, secondary research, and the difference between the two types of research.
- ONLINE articles/websites will not be accepted and will result in a 0.

- I have used EBSCOhost, Academic OneFile, JStore, Academic Search Premier, and COM and MASS media complete. You are welcome to use and find any platform that works for your research. If you have questions about finding an article, please use your small group first, then the librarian(s), and lastly me.
Paper
- Four (4) to five (5) pages in length
- The first page of your group’s paper will be an annotated bibliography using APA style. Use this resource as a guide:
- The following page will begin the short paper (introduction, body, conclusion). Your group will begin by introducing the communication concepts, give a brief background of the concept and theory, then provide a strong thesis statement.
- This part of the paper addresses the understanding of the communication concept and the application of the material.
- You will want to work together with your small group to understand how this communication concept applies to your small group (in general and specifically)
- How your group believes other groups (community groups, political groups, Corporate America(n) groups, Not-for-profits groups) can benefit from this research/knowledge.
- Consider the: Who/What/When/Where/Why of the research connected to the concept and the small group. This part of the paper should cite the textbook and the research articles.
Visual Aid
- Presentation: Create a 7-9 slide PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi, Adobe Slides presentation
- Introduce the theory/communication concepts
- Explain the main points of the research, the study, the methodology/method of research, and the research(s) findings.
- Additionally, you will want to implement specifics from the communication concept and application to your small group.
- The presentation must include at minimum one video that illustrates the communication concept
- Visual images are required for at least 3 of the slides
Submission
Your group should submit:
First page: Title Page (APA format)
Page 2/3: an annotated bibliography (APA citation of the peer-reviewed articles and 1-2 paragraphs explaining the research).
Page 3-6/7: Explanation of the research article, the communication concept, and citations from your textbook. You can use your group as an example as you see fit.
Page 7/8: Reference page
Presentation slides should highlight the research and incorporate the video. 7-9 slides including a title page and a reference page. The better grade will be earned through not just text/sentences/paragraphs but visual aids as well.
