Various models of substance abuse prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation are available for the delivery of support services for justice-involved individuals with addiction and substance abuse issues. It is important to understand how and when these various models can be applied to various diverse populations. Much information about a clients situation can be obtained through intake interviews with the client. In this assignment, you will explore the types of information you can learn about your client through an intake interview, and discover how to apply substance abuse prevention, intervention, and rehabilitation models to such a situation.

Review the INTAKE ASSESSMENT FORM

As part of your internship, you have been asked by program managers to complete an intake assessment.

Create a fictional history of an inmate or offender who has an alcohol or substance abuse disorder to use for this assignment.

Create a 12- to 15-slide Microsoft PowerPoint presentation on what you have learned from the questions asked during the intake assessment.

For your presentation, you should:

• Describe the inmate or offender with an alcohol or substance abuse disorder who is seeking treatment at your correctional facility (e.g., prison, jail, parole, probation, or diversion).
• Describe this inmate or offenders life experience through their initiation of substance use, prior treatment, and any periods of sobriety.
• Describe and analyze at least 2 models of substance abuse prevention, intervention, and/or rehabilitation that could be used in the delivery of support services for this client.
• Outline the treatment strategies you are proposing for the inmate or offender.
• Identify 2 treatment goals you will work on with the inmate or offender.

Include at least 2 references.

For Exam #1, we are required to answer both questions in detailed, essay-style responses. Each response should be approximately two pages in length. I will attach the Exam #1 PDF that was provided by the instructor.

It allows you to assess your work, meaning are you collecting appropriate resources and you should begin to notice the recurring themes about your topic as it is portrayed in the different types of media sources. By this point, you should have at least 8 completed media log entries. Using those entries, write a 2-3 page analytical reflection. Your reflection must address the following: Media Log Progress How many sources have you collected so far? What types of media are represented in your log? Are your sources clustered around a single outlet or spread across platforms? Emerging Patterns Identify one or two patterns you are beginning to notice in how your topic is being portrayed. These patterns may relate to tone, repeated language, types of cases covered, or portrayals of offenders, victims, or authorities. Preliminary Framing Observations How would you describe the dominate tone of the coverage so far? What seems to be emphasized or repeatedly highlighted? You will develop three professional memorandums, one each week, discussing a criminal justice agency at one of the levels of government. You have some levity in determining which agency you choose, as long as it fits clearly into within the context of Criminal Justice and is within the assigned level of government. In each, you will address the components as outlined in this assignment and the memorandum should have section headings listed according to the four components identified below. There will need to be a reference page prepared in appropriate APA Style, but reference pages do not count towards the page requirements. You must properly identify the sources you use in developing the memorandum. The memorandum must follow the course model, or a grade of zero (0) will be issued. Each of the agency memorandums is to be composed of the following components: Introduction = Tell us about the agency you chose, what is the name? What is the role it plays? Why or why not? You should be absolutely sure you have answered each question in the component, but the response must not be written in a question and answer format. Throughout history, police officers have been a frequent target of satire and lampooning in literature, television, film, and other forms of media. From comedic portrayals of bumbling officers in silent films to modern critiques of law enforcement in late-night comedy and political satire, the image of police has been both exaggerated for humor and scrutinized for deeper societal commentary. For your short discussion paper, explore the role and impact of lampooning police officers in media and public discourse. Consider the following questions: How has satire shaped public perception of law enforcement? What are some common tropes used in comedic portrayals of police officers, and how do they reflect societal attitudes? Can satire serve as a tool for social change, or does it risk undermining the legitimacy of law enforcement?
