Personal statement for PGCE application

For this assignment, you will choose a peer-reviewed, scholarly, or practitioner’s journal whose focus is appropriate to the research topic you identified in your Research Topic. The journal you select should be one that could potentially serve as a publication venue for your forthcoming Professional Publication Manuscript Assignment. Ensure you are selecting a journal not a research article or repository. Journals can be identified by reviewing which venue published the research articles you reviewed for the Article Reviews Assignment or by conducting a simple internet search using the following search terms: ‘education journal’. Some journals only select articles based on completed research. Since you are only proposing and not conducting research for this course, the journal you select should allow submissions of literature review only articles, discussion articles, or practitioner-focused articles (the journal must have a minimum article word count of 2,500 words). 1. Once you have found your journal of choice, in a Word document, identify the journal’s name. Also provide an APA formatted reference entry for an example article the journal has recently published (the article need not be related to your topic of personal interest). 2. Explain how the focus or scope of the journal is relevant to your selected research topic. 3. Provide the submission guidelines for the journal. Submission guidelines can be found on your selected journal’s website and are typically under the heading of ‘Author Submission Guidelines,’ ‘Author Guidelines,’ ‘Contribute,’ ‘Submit an Article,’ ‘Instructions for Authors’, or other similar verbiage. Provide these guidelines in written narrative or bullet point form; do not simply copy and paste from the journal’s website. b. Ensure among the guidelines you have included the journal’s required style (i.e., APA, MLA, CMS, etc.). c. Include an APA citation and corresponding reference for the submission guidelines for the journal.

Your task is to revise and rewrite Tasks 1 and 2 according to the provided guidelines and professors feedback.

Meditate on Psalm 139: 1318. This Scripture clearly teaches that you have been uniquely created by God. Think about todays students that are served by the traditional school system. Using this Scripture as your background, and considering information studied over the past weeks (Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences, the architecture of creating schools that work, exploring traditional and charter schools, standardization of curriculum, etc.), you will be assigned to argue either in support or against the pre-determined topic:

• What is mastery of content? Is it important, and can the traditional model of education achieve it?

As you form your thoughts for your side of the debate, closely consider the uniqueness of each learner in the classroom. Consider components of an educational system that minimize the uniqueness and individuality of learners. Use the assigned textbook, the Bible readings, presentations, and any approved websites to connect scriptural teaching to your studies. Your thread must demonstrate evidence of a scholarly approach and thoughtful analysis.
