  • Using Buckingham Pi theorem to derive CL and CD relations

    Hello,

I have homework #2 for AE 333 (Aerodynamics).

    Problem 1:

Using Buckinghams Pi theorem, show that CL = f(M, Re) for an airfoil tested in a wind tunnel where compressibility effects are important.

    Problem 2:

Using Buckinghams Pi theorem, show that CD = f(Re) for a sphere tested in a water tunnel.

    Then:

    b) Find the required sphere velocity to simulate a balloon rising at 8 m/s.

    c) Determine the balloon drag force if the measured drag on the sphere is 60 N.

    Please provide clear step-by-step solution.

I need help completing Homework #4 for ME 210 Mechanical Engineering Drawing & Graphics.

    Problem 1:

Create a complete 3D solid model of the Gripper Rod Center (Exercise 7.36, Page 315 from the textbook). The model must be accurate and fully defined.

    Problem 2:

The 3D part file of Stop Base is provided. I need the following:

Add top and right-side orthographic views

Add a full section front view

Add all dimensions in proper standard format and correct locations

Show the 0.62 hole as a limit dimension with sliding tolerance fit using the shaft basis system

Add machined surface finish symbol showing surface roughness average of 25 -in and machining allowance of 0.10 in

Add general tolerance of 0.02 inch in the title block

Add proper notes and complete title block entries

All files must be organized in one folder, zipped, and ready for submission.

Please provide accurate SolidWorks files that are fully editable.

  • Need help rebuilding SOLIDWORKS Knob (Fillet Tutorial) Witho…

Hi, I already started this assignment but I want to make sure Im doing everything correctly for full credit.

The task is to rebuild the Knob (Fillet tutorial) from scratch in SOLIDWORKS and prepare the final PDF properly.

Here are the requirements I must follow:

    • Open a NEW part and rebuild the knob step by step (not using the old tutorial file).
    • Assign material: ABS.
    • Go to Evaluate Mass Properties (mass should be around 10.01 grams).

    For the Word/PDF document:

    1. Insert screenshots of four views:
      Top
      Front
      Right
      Isometric

In the Isometric view, Hidden Lines Visible must be turned ON.

    1. For Mass Properties:
    • Do NOT take a screenshot.
    • Use Copy to Clipboard.
    • Paste the full Mass Properties text.
    • Make only the mass value bold (no highlight, no underline).
    1. Make a small design change (for example increase diameter by 5 mm), then:
    • Insert updated four views
    • Paste updated full Mass Properties
    • Make the new mass value bold
    • Add a sentence like:
I increased the diameter from 75 mm to 80 mm.

Final file must be one PDF named exactly:
    Lab5_yourinitials.pdf

I mainly need help making sure everything is structured correctly and formatted exactly as required for grading.

  • Use permeable paving for streets and sidewalks

My proposed project investigates the use of permeable paving systems for streets and sidewalks within a UK context. The focus is on evaluating their hydraulic performance, structural suitability, and contribution to climate resilience using analytical modelling and literature-based assessment. The core idea is to compare conventional impermeable asphalt pavements with permeable paving systems in terms of peak runoff reduction, storm return period performance, and long-term feasibility. The study will use hydrological modelling (Rational Method) under different rainfall return periods (e.g., 1:2, 1:30, 1:100 year storms) to quantify runoff reduction potential. Structural suitability will be assessed using published pavement design guidance rather than experimental testing. There will be no laboratory testing involved in this project. The research is designed as an analytical and modelling-based study supported by critical literature review. This decision is based on: The suitability of modelling for hydrological comparison Time and resource constraints The availability of strong published performance data The relevance of analytical evaluation to urban design practice The dissertation will therefore include: A critical literature review of permeable paving performance Hydrological modelling and sensitivity analysis Structural design assessment using published guidance Lifecycle and maintenance evaluation Critical discussion of limitations and implementation challenges I would appreciate confirmation that a modelling-based, non-laboratory dissertation is acceptable at Level 6, provided that it demonstrates sufficient depth of analysis, critical evaluation, and independent academic judgement.

  • Use permeable paving for streets and sidewalks

My intended research area is the evaluation of permeable paving systems for use in urban sidewalks and low-traffic streets. With increasing urbanisation and surface water flooding risks, sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) are becoming increasingly important in civil engineering design. Permeable pavements offer potential benefits including stormwater infiltration, runoff reduction, and groundwater recharge. However, their long-term hydraulic and structural performance requires further investigation, particularly under realistic service conditions.
