  • Focus Paper 3: Empire of AI

writing a third 1-page Focus Paper to help us to continue to explore and identify answers to our working research question about AI.

    • Our research source for this paper will be Empire of AI: Chapters 5 or 6 and we will be using templates from They Say I Say Chapters 1-3 & 7 to help us to craft our argument.
    • No additional sources are needed.
    • You may quote or paraphrase from Introduction to College Research if desired, but you are not required to include this text as a research source.

    Crafting the Focus Paper

Writing a 1-page Focus Paper requires us to not only focus our analysis on one argument posited in the text, but also to practice writing concisely.

    Structure

Former students in this class have found it helpful to think of the one-page Focus Paper as structured like a body paragraph in a research paper with:

    • An introductory sentence: providing context for the topic (subject) of your Focus Paper
    • A topic sentence in which you state the subject of the paper clearly and make your point about your chosen topic.
    • 2-4 supporting sentences in which you clarify your point and provide evidence both from your personal experience and the text: Empire of AI
    • A concluding sentence that provides a “statement of findings” as a result of your research (in other words, what did you learn/discover that is helping you to explore/answer your research question).

    Templates

In this Focus Paper, we will be putting what we have learned from Chapters 1- 3 & 7 of They Say I Say into practice, including:

    • Analyzing and Summarizing the author’s argument
    • Integrating research: quotes/paraphrases from Empire of AI into our writing
    • including MLA in text citations.
    • Using your experience to support and clarify, in concert with the text (Empire of AI) to clarify and support your point.

Please use the templates from Chapters 1- 3 & 7 They Say I Say to structure your writing, to clearly state your position on one of the author’s arguments in Chapter 1, 2 or 3, to integrate research [quote(s)/paraphrase(s)] from your primary source (Empire of AI), and to incorporate your personal experience with AI.

    • You must include at least one template in each Focus Paper.
    • Type all templates used in bold font.
  • Quote response journal

I posted the instructions in the photos and a photo of the example that was giving. it will have to be from the sources that was used in the last paper
  • Research

How does the American educational system mirror larger societal inequities, and what can be done to change it so that the America of the future is closer to its ideals of fairness, equality, and opportunity for all? (Simplified prompt question: “How is school in America unfair, and what can be done to make it fair for everyone?”) Overview and Basic Directions: Your task is to create a three-part essay that makes an argument in response to the prompt. A three-part essay means that you must have an introduction with a thesis, an essay body with multiple paragraphs that supports your thesis, and a conclusion. An argument is when you attempt to persuade your audience, the readers, that your ideas on an important issue are worthwhile. The goal is that readers should at least consider your point of view. Please consider your audience your classmates and me. 🙂

  • Becoming a truck driver and returning to healthcare

For this assignment, you will submit your rough draft to Brainfuse and use the feedback from Brainfuse to edit your paper. Assignment Instructions Follow the directions below to complete the activity: Step 1 | Write your rough draft. Using the extended paragraph plan, construct the first draft of your essay. Step 2 | Submit your draft to Brainfuse for review. Having an outside entity like Brainfuse review a paper before it’s submitted for grading is like having an extra pair of eyes to check for mistakes and make sure everything makes sense. It’s important because sometimes when we’re so close to our work, we might miss errors or overlook things that could be improved. Getting another person’s perspective can help us catch mistakes we might have missed and provide helpful suggestions for making the paper better. Ultimately, having an outside review can increase the quality of the paper and improve our chances of getting a better grade. Please go to the Writing Center tab and follow the prompts. Choose “Academic Essay” when prompted and then navigate through the submission page. You will be asked to upload your completed rough draft towards the end. It typically takes Brainfuse 24 hours to return your feedback, so do not wait until the last minute to submit it. Step 3 | Edit Your Paper Once you receive your report from Brainfuse, use it to revise your paper. You will turn in the corrected paper in the next assignment. Here, I need you to submit the Brainfuse Report you received. Step 4 | Submit Your Brainfuse Report Once you have completed all activities, follow the directions below to submit your assignment. Select the Start Assignment button to begin the assignment submission. Locate and upload the activity from your computer, mobile device, Google Drive, or Office 365. Click the Submit Assignment button.

  • Argumentative Research (Essay 3)

The movie I want to write about is Mean Girls the 2004 Film and the claim to be about bullying and misogyny and why its bad, the biggest part of the essay is having a good and strong thesis. (will need to use 4 sources for evidence)

I want the essay to follow strictly and exactly as the attached document (Project 3 outline).

My main concern is I need it a little quicker then a 3 hour deadline if possible and I want it to sound normal and human if that makes sense, like how the average writer would write. Use less complicated vocabulary and go for content over trying to sound sophisticated. I would prefer it to sound like a rant then be repetitive and have no cohesion.

    Thanks!

  • Time management geared towards college students

TOPIC: Time management geared towards college students. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PAPER AND REVISE TO NEW TOPIC

    Directions

For your project, you will create two versions of the same paper, an analysis of a written work. In the first version, you will explain the writers choices in relation to genre, audience, purpose, and subject. You will also write about the core idea of the text as well as the details that support it. This first version should be focused on the first audience that you selected. To submit this version for the project, revise the draft you wrote earlier in the course using the feedback you received from your instructor. Your instructor will evaluate this version based on your analysis of the text and on how you use evidence from the text to support it.

For the second version of the analysis essay, you will adapt what you have written to a different audience and writing situation of your choice. Adapting your essay means making changes throughout your paper to adapt your writing situation based on the needs of the audience and situation. Therefore, you will use the first version of your essay as the foundation for the second version of your essay, but with the changes to reflect the different audience. Your instructor will evaluate this version based on how you adapt your writing.

Use either the APA or MLA template linked in the What to Submit section to complete your project.

Specifically, you must address the following:

Part One: Analysis of a Written Work for a First Audience

In this section, you will analyze a written work and explain some of the writers choices. This is the first version of your paper. The audience for this version is the one you addressed in the draft you wrote in Module Five. This part of your project should be about 1 to 2 pages long.

    1. Part One: Topic: Identify the topic of the text.
    2. Part One: Genre: Explain the writers choices in relation to the genre of the text.
    3. Part One: Purpose: Describe the writers purpose.
    4. Part One: Audience, Purpose, and Subject: Explain the writers choices in relation to the audience, purpose, and subject of the text.
    5. Part One: Historical and Cultural Context: Determine the historical and cultural context of the text.
    6. Part One: Core Idea: Articulate and evaluate the core idea of the text.
    7. Part One: Details: Summarize details of the text that are relevant to the core idea.
    8. Part One: Evidence: Support your analysis of the core idea with evidence from the text.
    9. Include at least one quote from the text.
    10. Explain how this evidence supports the core idea.

Part Two: Analysis of a Written Work for a Second Audience

This is the second version of your paper. In this version, you will first choose and describe the new audience and writing situation. Then, you will revisit the first version of your paper and make changes to it to adapt to your writing situation. You will be graded on the quality of how you adapt this paper to a second audience, not on the content of the paper.

Identify a new audience: Before you get started with your second version, choose a new audience and writing situation by addressing the following items in a few short paragraphs:

    1. Part Two: New Audience: Identify an audience for the second version of your paper.
    2. This audience must be different from the one you addressed in the first version of your paper.
    3. Part Two: Audience Needs: Describe the needs of that audience.
    4. Part Two: Writing Situation: Describe the needs of the writing situation for the second version of your paper.
    5. Choose a writing situation different from the one you addressed in the first version of your paper. Then, describe the needs of that writing situation.

Second version of the paper: Now, revisit the analysis you wrote for the first version of your paper. Adapt it based on the needs of the audience and writing situation you described in the previous section. You will be graded on the quality of this adaptation. This part of your project should be about 1 to 2 pages long. Specifically, do the following:

    1. Part Two: Writing Style: Adapt your writing style based on the needs of your audience.
    2. Adapting your writing will require you to make a significant number of changes. While the core idea of your paper will remain the same, the style that you use to communicate it to your audience will be different. Additionally, the changes you make should be consistent throughout the paper.
    3. Part Two: Writing Conventions: Adapt your writing conventions based on the needs of the writing situation.
    4. Adapting your writing will require you to make a significant number of changes. While the core idea of your paper will remain the same, the way that you communicate it to your audience will be different. Additionally, the changes you make should be consistent throughout the paper.

    What to Submit

To complete this project, you must submit the following:

Use either the or to create your project and submit it as a 3- to 5-page Microsoft Word document (with an additional title page and reference page in the case of APA, or a works cited page in the case of MLA) with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. The first and second versions of your paper should each be about 1 to 2 pages long, while the Identify a new audience section of Part Two should be addressed in a few short paragraphs. Use evidence from the text to support your paper. Although you will refer to your selected text in your assignment, you will not refer to any sources from outside this course. Follow APA or MLA citation guidelines when citing the text both throughout and at the end of your project.
