    Dionysian and Chaotic themes

Considering the difference in Dionysian and Chaotic themes relative to Heavy Metal music, give a contemporary example of each and explain your reasoning. While your examples don’t need to be from Heavy Metal in particular, those examples are appreciated. Does one type of theme (Dionysian or Chaotic) seem to predominate the music you frequently listen to?

    Example 1

A Dionysian example would be Gwar and how their music goes against societies norms through lyrical and theatrical performances. An example of chaotic themes would be Cryptopsy with lyrics that are sung through loud sounds and wild riffs of instruments.

    Example 2

A Dionysian band that I know of and have listened to is Motley Crue. Motley Crue is known for sex, drugs, and partying in their life and music. On the other hand, a Chaotic band that my son listens to is Portal. Portals’ music is all over the place, with no clear song structure and unpredictable rhythms; it just sounds like loud noise to me. The music I listen to is Dionysian-themed because it is more emotional.

    Example 3

A Dionysian example is Sleep Tokens Take Me Back to Eden because its very emotional and intense like getting lost in the music. A chaotic example is Knocked Looses You Wont Go Before Youre Supposed To since it sounds super aggressive and out of control. The difference is Dionysian feels like emotional release while chaotic feels more like disorder and noise. The music I listen to is mostly more Dionysian because it focuses more on emotion than chaos.

    Nursing Mothers-The Challenges

Having a baby is often one of life’s greatest experiences. People say that being a

mother comes naturally, but often women struggle with what would seem to be a natural

    process-breastfeeding.

Birth takes a toll on a woman’s body and mind and our culture often limits the time the

new mother has to bond and recuperate. Stress can interfere with the nursing process.

Financial pressure to return to work adds to the stress.

Not all women are told about lactation consultants, who are specialists in the nursing

experience. They can be a valuable source of information and support for the nursing process.

It takes time to learn for both mama and baby, and when the mother must return to work

after a short time, this can interrupt the process, leading women to worry about their milk

supply, which in turn can cause a reduce supply.

When our own mothers did not successfully breastfeed, there is a perception that we will also have problems and the support of having someone who has been successful is very important for a new mother.

Taking time to relax during each feeding is important. Drinking lots of water is also important. A relatively small increase in calories is required but eating well is critical. It is often said an extra sandwich should provide enough extra calories for nursing.

Hearing more about the experience of breastfeeding can be helpful. If you are comfortable sharing your stories, this can open up a discussion about the topic of breastfeeding.

    1. Have you or anyone close to you been a breastfeeding mother?
    1. What challenges did you or the person you know have with breastfeeding?
    1. How long you choose to breastfeed is a personal choice for both mother and child. Did people comment on the age of your child who was still nursing? The World Health Organization suggests continuing to breastfeed up to two years of age.
    1. Share any tips you may have for supporting a nursing mother as she begins the nursing experience
