    Now that youve selected your final research topics that you will build upon for the last 4 weeks of this course, we are going to take a deep dive into research and source evaluation. To this point, youve had experience evaluating other authors arguments, sources, logic, and claim types and now its your turn to try your hand at crafting a multidimensional and hybrid argument of your own.

    The choices we make surrounding what kinds of source material help us form our arguments are rhetorical choices. Selecting high quality source material and practicing ethical and sound research is not only important in the context of academia but can tremendously increase your writerly ethos when done well. Using research strategies and techniques outlined by our authors alongside practicing important source annotation techniques will be the first and most vital step in crafting your final hybrid argument and extended research paper.

    1. Reflect on Your Personal Interests: Start by contemplating your personal interests and inclinations as they relate to literature. Think about the aspects of literary works that intrigue you the most, whether it be themes like gender, economics, human behavior, or any other concept.
    2. Choose a School of Literary Criticism: Select one of the various schools of literary criticism that aligns with your interests. For example, if you are drawn to gender-related topics, feminist literary criticism may be captivating to you.
    3. Apply the Chosen School of Criticism: Analyze how your chosen school of literary criticism enriches your understanding of “The Yellow Wallpaper.” Explore how viewing the narrative through this lens provides fresh insights into its themes, characters, or symbolism.
    4. Support Your Arguments: When constructing your arguments, ensure they are well-supported with evidence from the story. Utilize techniques such as paraphrasing, analysis, or direct quotations to effectively substantiate your points. This practice not only strengthens your arguments but also showcases a deeper engagement with the text and its nuances.
    5. Engage with Classmates: After your initial post, actively engage with your fellow classmates’ contributions. Offer constructive feedback, ask questions, and encourage further discussion.
  • Module 5: Biases in Writing

    • Write a paper stating (synthesis) your opinion on biases using these two articles.
    • Include answers to the following questions:
    • How are biases depicted in the articles?
    • Identify the biases within the articles.
    • How are biases being seen in the healthcare industry?
    • Include one resource to support your answer.
    • Do the articles support your opinion on bias?
    • How can we avoid bias?
    • This assignment should be 12 double-spaced pages in length and in APA (7th ed.) format. A title page and a references page are required.
