Discussion Topic: Week 3 ActivityWeek 3 ActivityOVERVIEW
Welcome to the Week 3 Activity!
This week, we’ve explored concepts of the self, including self-concept, self-esteem, reflected appraisal, and the Johari Window. We’ve also explored theories of perception, including the perception process, common errors of perception, and how we can improve our perception utilizing perception checking.
This assignment will help you practice with the concepts you learned this week. First, you’ll develop self-awareness of your self-concept and self-esteem by completing several activities and then creatively representing them on a digital self-portrait. Then, you’ll practice perception checking with a student response.
WHAT TO POST
Preparation
Complete the following activities to help you better understand your self-concept, self-esteem, and ideal self.
- Brainstorm words that you utilize to describe yourself. (This would be a good place to use ChatGPT! Copy/paste your 16 personalities test results into ChatGPT and ask it to provide 5 words that summarize the information.
- Ideal Self: Think about the person you most want to becomeyour ideal self. What qualities, skills, or values does that version of you have? In what ways are you similar to or different from your ideal self right now? What steps can you take to grow closer to that version of yourself?
- Social Comparison theory and Looking Glass Self: Who do you often find yourself comparing yourself to, and why? Think about someone youve looked up to or measured yourself againsthow did that comparison affect how you see yourself? Whose opinions or feedback have the biggest impact on your self-image, and how do they shape the way you think about yourself?
Now, you’re ready to develop your digital self-portrait.
1. Develop a digital portrait of your findings utilizing a website called
. Padlet is a digital bulletin board. Padlet is very easy to utilize, but for a quick introduction,
If you require technical assistance with Padlet, please message your instructor via Canvas or text.
2. On your Padlet, post photographs, GIFs, memes, images, websites, Youtube videos, songs, articles, etc. that represent your findings during the “preparation” stage of this activity– your personality test reults, self-esteem score, reflections on ideal self, social comparison theory, and looking glass self.
Requirement: All five components must be included on your digital self-portrait.
- Your personality test results
- Representations of your self-concept (i.e., images/songs/GIFs that represent your hobbies, interests, roles, attitudes, beliefs, and values)
- A representation of your self-esteem results (i.e., a GIF of a famous singer saying “I’m amazing” to represent high self-esteem)
- A representation of your ideal self (i.e., Ideal self is a pro-NFL player, and you post a picture of Drew Brees.)
- A representation of the social comparison theory and looking glass self (i.e., A TikTok from your favorite fitness influencer)
Initial Post
Post the link to your Padlet to this Discussion Board. (Be sure the settings are shared to Public).
Student Response
After you post your own Padlet, choose at least one classmates Padlet to view and respond to. Use the three-step perception checking process to guide your response. This helps you practice making fair, thoughtful interpretations of others self-presentations.
Step 1: Describe (without judgment)
Start by describing something specific you saw on their Padlet. Focus on what you observed, not what you think it means.
Example: I noticed you included a song about confidence and an image of a mountain climber.
Step 2: Offer possible interpretations
Give two possible explanations for what that choice might mean. Avoid assuming your interpretation is correct.
Example: Maybe that means you see yourself as ambitious, or it could show that youve overcome challenges.
Step 3: Ask for clarification
Invite your classmate to share more about their intent behind the content.
Example: Did that image represent your current self or your ideal self? Id love to hear more about why you chose it.
Requirement: Perception check must include all three steps.
Follow Up
After a classmate leaves a perception check on your Padlet, take time to respond thoughtfully.
1. Answer the question they asked for clarification: Explain your thinking, intention, or the meaning behind the image, post, or reference they asked about.
2. Add more insight or context.: Share what inspired your choice, how it connects to your self-concept or ideal self, or what you were feeling when you selected it. You can also reflect on whether their interpretation helped you see your own self-portrait in a new way.

Video Games and Smart Learning Why Guiding Your Kid’s Play…
What fo you think is it good topic or should change I should submit my topic till 24 hours. Video Games and Smart Learning Why Guiding Your Kid’s Play is Just Modern Parenting I want to write about kids, video games, and the idea of “smart learning” the way some games can actually teach problem-solving, creativity, and even emotional skills when used the right way. Im not saying every game is educational, but Ive seen how my nephew picks up math from building games and learns teamwork when he plays online with his cousins. At the same time, Ive watched kids zone out for hours on games that dont seem to add much besides screen time. So my argument is this: Parents shouldnt just restrict games or give unlimited access they should get involved and help turn game time into smart learning time. Being curious about what your kid is playing, talking about what happens in the game, and even playing along sometimes isn’t being overbearing it’s just modern parenting. Its like helping them pick good books or choosing a sport theyll actually enjoy and grow from. Im not here to tell anyone how to raise their kids. I just want to show that with a little attention and intention, video games can be more than just entertainment they can be a tool for smart learning. And being involved in your kids digital world isnt extra work its just part of raising curious, capable kids todayAttached Files (PDF/DOCX): MacKay2015.pdf, EN101 Persuasive Rubric 40 pointsdocx (1) – Copy (1).pdf, Persuasive Essay Example 2.pdf, Persuasive Essay Example 2.pdf, MacKay2015.pdf

Artivism
What is artivism? It is the coming together of art and activism, or art with a social justice message. It is aimed at raising awareness of social justice issues and/or spurring action on these issues. Artivism can take many forms, including, but not limited to, art installations, dance, drawings, murals, paintings, poetry, posters, songs, spoken word, street theater, zines, etc. For this assignment you will be creating an original piece of artivism. Unless you are already well-acquainted with another art form, I recommend creating a poem (at least a full page in length), poster, or short zine. The subject matter is up to you, as long as it is connected to (1) Latinx communities in the United States, and (2) a social justice cause or issue. Along with your original piece of artivism, you will need to turn in a one-page double spaced write-up on your piece. It should include the social justice issue your piece is about, the reasons you chose both this particular issue and the art form, and the type of social change you hope your piece can help to create. You will need to turn in the artivism you create- either as a word document in the case of poetry, or as a photograph or digital copy in terms of visual art. In the case of performing arts, you can submit a video of your artivism. If you have any question about this, feel free to contact me. You will be graded on the following criteria, each having equal weight: 1- Create an original piece of artivism 2- Show a clear connection to (1) Latinx communities and (2) social justice 3- Explain why you chose both (1) this issue and (2) this art form 4- Describe the social change you hope your piece can help to create -
