  • Evaluation Plan

Project Assessment is evaluation. It is a critical part of the grant proposal. Evaluation is linked to the program goal(s) and objectives. The best evaluations contain both subjective (i.e.qualitative) and objective (i.e. quantitative) data and serve as evidence of Project success. Subjective (qualitative) data can address the feelings and opinions of program participants, or how successful was the program. Such data can be captured using interviews, or satisfaction surveys etc. Objective (quantitative) data focuses on how much or how many. For example: how many participants enrolled in the program or how many staff trainings did you conduct? Objective data can be captured using methods such as the administration of pretests and posttests. In developing an evaluation plan, you want to identify what data needs to be collected, who will collect the data, when it will be collected and how it will be analyzed. Having an evaluation plan that addresses both types of data, lets the funder know the impact of their short and long-term investments. Additionally, it also helps to provide feedback as to what improvements may need to be made in the program. Instructions Develop an evaluation plan for your project. Your objectives are the items to be assessed in the evaluation component. It must be written in future tense to judge the success of the project. Do not submit the result of a previous assessment. The textbook provides a very good example. Length of the assignment: One page or less (for the evaluation plan). A title page and reference section should also be included. Format of Assignment: Use current APA style. Number of Citations: Use at least 1 supplementary source. Acceptable Sources: Use current references published within the last 5 years to support your plan. Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool. Grant Project: Evaluation Plan Using the textbook model as a guide (see pgs. 122-123), in a page, provide an evaluation plan/Project Assessment for your proposal. The project assessment is the assessment you plan to do in the future to judge the success of the project. It must be written in future tense. It should include both qualitative and quantitative measures, and the methods you will use to collect/track these (eg. questionnaires, surveys, phone interviews, focus groups). Qualitative evaluation measures things like participant satisfaction, program effectiveness etc., whereas quantitative evaluation measures things like the number of people enrolled, or completed the surveys etc. It would be good for you to research both methods used to collect qualitative and quantitative data. Do not submit the results of a previous evaluation. Remember that you are developing a new proposal for a program idea for the non-profit. I have also attached a sample evaluation plan. You can use this as a guide for the types of things that are measured that are qualitative and quantitative.

We could use the earlier theories that frame the IBM, but the IBM might just be easier since it’s comprehensive and suits the program. 1. Attitude: it’s in a fun classroom setting at school. Plus the program seems to want to encourage exercise through fun stuff as a group 2. perceived norm: it’s the whole class doing it at the same time (or multiple kids) 3. personal agency: as the kids do it more, they feel empowered to continue with the knowledge and skills We def could fit in Social Cognitive Theory – a lot of its aspects fit with Sound Body and Sound Mind. Now that I type it out, I might lean for SCT over IBM since SCT can be done from the program’s point of view (i.e. it’s the educators that really make the difference), whereas SCT focuses more on intention (alongside environment) but generally (i feel) is more self-driven – which can be harder if it’s kids we’re talking about
