She now has expressive aphasia, which affects her ability to verbally express herself, though she fully understands others. At a follow-up medical appointment, Mrs. Garcias adult daughter accompanies her and answers most of the doctors questions, sometimes inaccurately. The physician, rushed for time, speaks quickly and uses medical jargon, directing most questions to the daughter rather than Mrs. Garcia.
