  • Intro to Health Services Administration Culminating Final P…

    Culminating Final Project Prompt:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that will increase the proportion of Americans 65 years or older so that in 2030, 20% of Americans will be in this age group. At the same time, 92 percent of older adults have at least one chronic disease, and 77 percent have at least two. This places a heavy toll on the healthcare system. How will the healthcare industry need to adapt in order to meet the growing and complex needs of the populations served?

As Forbes reports, employee retention is a top concern in many industries, healthcare included, because this eliminates costs of finding new employees and improves an organization’s reputation. Adding a nationally-renowned physician will bring in more patients and increase revenue, but it can be just as important to keep current staff members. This project idea explores the reasons professionals often leave positions as well as what would motivate them to stay. As an incoming health administrator, suggest methods of improving company culture and employee benefits.

Generate novel ideas by applying new findings on medical talent acquisition and retention. Develop a master plan to increase retention by 25%. Use your interview from the course to see how current administrators attract and keep talent while also infusing your new ideas (more pay is not always the answer). Include data on the special population for your chosen area (choose an urban or rural setting) so you can have a diverse hiring pool which matches the patients.

The final project must include the following recommendations:

    1. Identify Internal/external stakeholders
    2. Planning
    3. Coordination (who does what)
    4. Implementation (include monthly schedule of when target goal will be reached)
    5. Evaluation (ex: employee satisfaction survey)
    6. Resources (ex: what incentive will be given to hire top candidates)
    7. Risk Management (ex: professional liability insurance)
    8. Marketing (ex: dont just hand out flyers or depend solely on social media)
    9. Anything else that would need to be managed to be successful (ex: data on benefits employees value most)

The report should be written in the following format:

Introduction with Mission statements, goals, and objectives

Please review the APA Manual for considerations for writing an introduction. The introduction should state the purpose of the research and/or the specific problem [or concept] under study and describe the research strategy (APA Manual, 7th ed., 2020).

    Conclusion

    Other grading criteria:

    Adherence to Guidelines:

Your final project should be 5-10 typed pages, should be double-spaced, and pages should be numbered. The paper should be typed in either Times New Roman at 12 font

    Overall Quality & Structure:

Your essay should be free of spelling and grammatical errors. It should flow properly and be clear, concise, and written in a professional manner. You should use headings as described above. You should include a reference page in APA 7th edition format. The reference page does not count toward your pages. You should write for quality and clarity rather than quantity.

    APA 7th edition/Use of Sources:

Your paper should be formatted in APA 7th edition formatting. You should document your text as a source and include a minimum of 5 additional sources.
