English Composition 1
I am interested in getting a paper wrote its a personal statement Hello, here is the guide to the paper, I have attached some points to help explain me what to write about. I would like to speak from a heartfelt place and how social impact is important to me and making a difference in peoples lives. Please mention that I previously started in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis and I felt like I wanted to learn more about mental health. At the time before starting in the role I am in I lost my job, so I felt compelled to step out on faith into a role that I had never done before.
The social concern I would focus on is trauma in black communities and I have a plan to start a non profit organization that helps youth navigate life providing them with a safe space to express themselves and give them access to resources and a voice. Helping children break generational curses is important to me and also providing parenting resources to legal guardians is what I would like to do.
This is the question that I want to answer — my personal experience would be my dad and members of my family struggling with mental illness, and wanting to learn more to be able to help them. My dad being diagnosed with dementia in 2021 has impacted my desire to further my education in social work. Being able to help him navigate the changes with resource linkage has given me hope to his illness.

Gilgamesh Through The Odyssey
For this assignment, you will evaluate characters from Gilgamesh, The Ramayana, and The Odyssey and then write an essay with a minimum of 1000 words (see specific topic below), arguing for and supporting your conclusions. This assignment will build your writing, analytical, and evaluative skills.
Both MLA in-text citations and a Works Cited page are required for this assignment.
Topic
The place you currently work (or volunteer) is hiring. Its a great fit for you; your skills and knowledge are developing, you like the people, and the salary is solid. One day, your boss tells you that the organization is expanding and that there is a bonus of five thousand dollars for any employee who personally recommends someone who applies, interviews, is hired, and stays at least a year. You understand that the right recommendation would work out wonderfully, but you are concerned about maintaining your strong professional reputation and good name.
In this essay, clearly identify four characters you would consider recommending and explain why each one was selected. The four candidates will be chosen from characters found in the first three epics we have read: Gilgamesh, The Ramayana, and The Odyssey. Choose at least one character from each epic. Any character in these epics may be chosen, not just the main characters. Consider each character’s strengths and weaknesses as individuals and as members of a team. Finally, in the conclusion, indicate which character you believe to be the strongest candidate and who you would recommend. Note: Support your arguments with evidence from the texts (including quotations).
Task
Write an essay of seven to nine paragraphs presenting your argument. Include quotations from the texts as well as additional details that illustrate and enhance the points you are making. Use the following as an outline of what to include:
- Your first paragraph should be an engaging introduction. Set up your project and state the qualities you are looking for.
- Structure your essay as you choose, but the writing should be organized. Perhaps focus on one character at a time, or focus on one desirable virtue or trait at a time.
- Give specific examples and quotes from the texts to support your analyses. Use in-text citations in MLA format for the quotations, and be sure to include page numbers from the texts included in this course.
- The last paragraph should be a conclusion. Indicate which candidate you believe to be the current frontrunner.
- Your final page should be your Works Cited page, in MLA format. It should include the three literary texts (our epics), as well as any content pages from the course material to which you may have referred. If you use any secondary sources, be sure to cite them as well!

Poem Explication
In a well thought and presented essay of about 1400-1500 wordsnot including quotations, in-text citations, or Works Cited(about 5-6 pages) explicate a poem from the list. Explication is a type of analysis that focuses on the work of literature chronologically. When analyzing a poem, you should probably go with the formalist critical approach. Identify the theme of the poem and in your explication support this theme by breaking the poem down sentence by sentencestanza by stanza, line by line, word by wordexploring the meaning and how it works within your theme. Explication for poetry requires a close focus on the language of the poem, so use The Oxford English Dictionary found in the library database; in fact, you are required to use at least 6 definitions of words in your selected poem to support your explication of the poemfollowing MLA guidelines for documentation. If the definition you provide is the obvious definition (one that most people already know), it doesnt really add much insight into the poem. -
