By conducting a SWOT analysis to determine its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, an organization can help to determine what objectives and factors are needed to become successful. Created during the 1960s by Harvard Business School and other universities, the SWOT matrix involves systematic thinking and the examination of both internal and external factors to help an organization form a strategy to overcome any issues or areas of concern that could cause a company regarding financial matters (Amin et al., 2018; Amburgey, 2022).

Blocher et al. (2022) wrote that cost management techniques such as the SWOT analysis can assist in strategic management, planning and decision-making, and management and operational control. By conducting the SWOT matrix, a company can determine what needs to be incorporated into its business plan and prepare its financial statements (Amburgey, 2022).

When the management of an organization has a clear and decisive understanding of a company’s core competencies, they can work towards building a solid company that has competitive advantages in their industry. Although SWOT analysis data can provide a company with details on how to increase their productivity and decrease any issues they have, Lee et al. (2020) suggest that organizations must understand that their strengths can become weaknesses and threats can become opportunities (Amburgey, 2022).

Within this 23-page essay, you will select one transportation company and perform a SWOT analysis to determine its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats regarding pricing and cost.
