  • Confidence Intervals

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, read Section 8-4: Concepts in Hypothesis Testing and Confidence Interval Estimation of the Business Analytics: Data Analysis and Decision Making (8th edition) textbook.

You may find it helpful to review the video

    and the webpage

    .

In this weeks reading, the text discusses different types of samples and their distributions, sampling errors, probabilities, and confidence intervals. Using Excel, complete the following problem. This is similar to Problem 33 in Chapter 8.

Problem: You have been assigned to determine whether more people prefer Coke or Pepsi. Assume that roughly half the population prefers Coke and half prefers Pepsi. How large a sample do you need to take to ensure that you can estimate, with 90% confidence, the proportion of people preferring Coke to within 5% of the actual value? Show all of your work.

    In your Excel spreadsheet,

    • Identify the sample size.
    • Utilize Excel support tools.
    • Present any equations utilized.

  • Week 1

Refer to the resources listed in the week one discussion.

This week the objective is to gain an understanding of reverse logistics and compare the challenges in reverse logistics that differentiate the process from forward logistics.

Perform research using the library and professional organizations (APICS, Center for Supply Chain Management, CSCMP) and Institute for Supply Management (ISM). Create a two-page essay integrating multiple authors’ opinions on the importance of investing in reverse logistics. Consider the objective of business (to make a profit) and provide examples of various ways value is attained with efficient reverse logistics strategies.

  • Integration Essay

    Individual Assignment Instructions:

For the individual assignment, create an “integration essay” addressing the concepts related to reverse logistics and/or OEM reverse logistics. To accomplish integration, locate multiple articles from the library. They can be periodical magazine articles or journal articles. Compare and contrast the ideas of multiple authors. Brief summaries of the authors’ ideas are appropriate. However, most of the essay should match to the verbs in the Bloom’s Taxonomy diagram. Select the application and analyze a portion of the diagram to develop an acceptable master’s level essay. Notice the product content of the article.

Be sure to apply APA formatting and include scholarly articles to develop the essay discussion points.

For those who have not written an integrated essay or are not sure, here is a link that gives a good overview of what is expected:

  • Week 6 – Assignment: FAR Parts Six and Seven

Create a three-to-five-page essay in APA format, using the current APA information in the library writing resources section. Your essay should include the following sections: an introduction, a summary of FAR Parts Six and Seven, a review of relevant library articles, integration of these sources, and a description of the process for obtaining competitive bids.

    Resource:

    • Read FAR Parts Six and Seven to understand the foundation for competitive bidding and acquisition planning.
    • Select library articles that describe the importance of competitive bidding in government contract programs. Also, select articles that discuss the planning process for supporting competitive bidding.
    • Integrate information from the FAR sections and library articles. Describe the process for obtaining competitive bids.
    • Focus on discussing the formation of contracts, including the use of standard templates, compliance with federal regulations, and the review of statements of work.
  • Statistical regression forecasting

This week and next, your studies focus on using statistical regression to forecast future demand. Begin your studies in the Content section of the classroom by completing the reading and viewing assignments. As was the case last week, do not try to complete this homework assignment without understanding the concepts involved with forecasting using statistical regression. Once you have a good understanding of how regression works, download the attached Excel Template onto your computer. You will use this template for your assignment during the next two weeks (Weeks 6 and 7). Begin by opening the Excel File and read through the Scenario at the top of the page, then notice there are tabs at the bottom of the workbook that constitute your homework assignment. There are three different Task-groups for you to work on over the next two weeks. Next, take a look at each section in the Excel book and scroll down through the spreadsheet, you will notice in the far left column, there are several tasks for you to complete on each tab. Pace yourself and get some of the assignment done in the first week; it can be dangerous to leave all of this homework for week 7. Next, hyperlinked directly below are several YouTube videos that will aid you in completing the assignment tasks. They are all short (under 10 minutes), so watch them all in succession before you start your homework. Then, as you start each Tab in the Excel Workbook, keep a copy of the appropriate video handy, each assignment almost exactly mirrors these videos; albeit with different scenarios.
