  • Wk 11 Discussion

Develop and post a personal mission statement that applies to your vision for service and social change in public policy and administration or a nonprofit organization or in your particular discipline. Explain your purpose, objectives, and ethical commitment in this statement, in addition to the essential strategies for fulfilling your mission.

    In 23 paragraphs:

    • State your personal mission. What do you want your life to be about, and what do you intend to pursue above all other things? How does your personal mission statement contribute to positive social change?
    • Describe the elements that you need to accomplish your mission. What relationships, networking, education, and living situation do you need?
    • Identify the governing ethical commitment(s) and decisions that you will apply to fulfill your mission.

Note: you may find that articulating such a statement is far more challenging than it may appear initially!

  • Week 10 Assignment

    To prepare:

    • Review the
    • document to understand the expectations for this next Assignment.
    • As in the first two papers, use APA formatting and the same APA 7 Course Paper template.
    • A minimum of seven (7) peer-reviewed sources should be included. Sources used from Papers 1 and/or 2 also may be used in this Final Paper.
    • A title page and Reference list are to be part of this Assignment, though these items are not included when considering the length of the paper.
    • Imagine you are the decision maker of this organization. You already have addressed the initial two steps of the Prescriptive Model for ethical decision making found in Terry Coopers text (see Chapter 2). You have provided the Descriptive Task and have engaged in Defining the Ethical Issue.

Paper 3 Assignment: (710 pages, not including the Title Page, Abstract, and Reference List)

    • In summary format, reintroduce your organization, the ethical challenge you are addressing, and the philosophical principles and obligations that you have stated stakeholders must consider. Refer to your first two papers for this requirement.
    • Explain with sufficient detail Steps 35 of Coopers model for ethical decision making:
    • Step 3: When considering the ethical decision, identify the possible solutions.
    • Step 4: Describe the likely outcomes for each of these options.
    • Step 5: Choose what you believe is the best option and, including ethical principles, justify the reason for your decision.
    • As you envision the implementation of your ethical decision, discuss the:
    • Obstacles you anticipate
    • Steps you can take to minimize those possible objections
    • Organizational structures, policies, or controls which are essential to ensure enactment of your decision
    • Integrate into your discussion how the decision you identified contributes to positive social change. That is, how does your solution contribute to the advancement of human rights and liberty? How does it contribute to justice and expand equity?
    • Add a conclusion that summarizes the key elements of your paper.

Select a topic from the list below. In your post, analyze the ethical and moral issues from a public policy perspective for the topic you selected. (Note: Make sure to include the topic in your post):

    • Often, it is the case that the best interests of a society are served when citizens remain and apply their energies and creative abilities where they were born and raised. Support or critique the public policy that seeks to fight root causes of migration in order to enable people to stay where they were born and raised.
    • Support or refute the broadly recognized principles of state sovereignty and noninterference, which imply that states are free to exclude all immigrants or to freely select to admit some and exclude others.
    • Compare morally legitimate and morally impermissible criteria for governmental immigration exclusion or selection policies.

  • Wk 4 Assignment

    To prepare

    • Review the
    • document in the Learning Resources to guide you in the selection of the organization, as well as expectations concerning writing and formatting.
    • Search the internet and/or the Walden Library for a minimum of five (5) peer-reviewed sources to support the topic of your Assignment.

Paper 1 Assignment: (710 pages, not including the Title Page, Abstract, and Reference List)

    • Select and describe a public or nonprofit organization, and identify its mission, vision, general structure, brief history, and key stakeholders.
    • Identify one ethical dilemma that currently challengesor is expected to challengethe organization. Do not identify multiple ethical matters. Focus your paper on only one ethical dilemma and its relevant elements.
    • Explain the need for a decision that requires action on the part of the organization.
    • Process the issue through the lens of philosophical foundations for ethical decision making (either deontological or teleological). For example, does this issue involve an organization’s failure to follow moral laws and the Golden Rule, either by its actions or lack of action? That is, does the issue involve universal principles related to right and wrong and categorical imperatives as articulated by Immanuel Kant? Or does current organizational policy or the actions of individuals result in harm for too many people instead of achieving the greatest good for the greatest number (i.e., the philosophy of Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill)?
    • A minimum of five peer-reviewed sources should be included as part of your Reference list.

  • Discussion 2

Consider the following questions based on the Shefali Roy (2017) TED Talk:

    • What happens when the ethics of an organization come into conflict with ones ethical commitments?
    • When something done within an organizationor done to others by that organizationis in conflict with their personal moral code, how should an employee, or volunteer connected to that organization, respond?

Write and post a briefing paper (300400 words) in which you:

    • Briefly identify a case study in which that conflict existed/exists. The case study can be real or fictional.
    • Describe the response that allows compliance with professional ethics while maintaining personal moral commitments.
    • Provide references.

Note: Use the Core Components and Checklist sections of Hermans (2012) White Papers and Briefing Books: A Communications Program Workshop as a general guide. You do not need to include an Executive Summary or Appendices for this Discussion.

  • Material Review 2

This assignment is designed to help me become familiar with the full grant-writing process by engaging with the course PowerPoints and selected readings.

After reviewing material from the attached 9 PDFs. Choose two to discuss.

    Address the following:

    1. Materials Reviewed

o Identify which PowerPoints you reviewed during this period.

o Identify at least two readings (PDF chapters) you reviewed and explain briefly why you chose them.

    2. Key Takeaways

o Discuss five key things you learned that you believe are essential to the grant-writing process or to grant writing more broadly.

o These may include concepts, strategies, common mistakes, mindset shifts, or practical insights.

    3. Reflection and Application

o Explain why these five takeaways stood out to you.

o Reflect on how they shape your understanding of what successful grant writing requires (e.g., preparation, alignment, storytelling, feasibility, relationships, evaluation).

Focus on depth, insight, and clarity rather than coverage.

When referencing the PDFs in-text, please indicate the chapters from which you found the material.
