  • Critical Appraisal of Jean Watsons Theory of Human Caring

    Assignment Prompt

Jean Watsons Theory of Human Caring is a conceptual thread in the USU College of Nursings curriculum framework. The purpose of this assignment is to offer students the opportunity to be exposed to Human Caring Science while providing students with the skills of critical appraisal of evidence.

Students will select one nursing research article that focuses on a study that used Jean Watsons Theory of Human Caring as a theoretical framework.
Students should use as a guide, an appropriate Rapid Critical Appraisal Checklist found in Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt (2019; pp. 708-722).
The critiques are to be informal, although correct grammar, spelling, etc., are expected. The critique should include a brief description of the study that was reviewed and should address elements of the study relevant to critique.
Students will provide a written critique on a critical appraisal of the elements relevant to the nature of the research study such as type of study, design, quality of the study; and rationale, as well as implications for practice and further research and/or evaluation.
The grade will be based on accuracy, level of content and structure of the document.

  • Investigate statistical output for data analysis.

The purpose of this assignment is to investigate statistical output for data analysis toward creating and sustaining a culture for evidence-based practice. You will locate quantitative and qualitative research to determine the value of research evidence as it impacts the APN/APRN in a healthcare environment.

Address the following in a Word essay. You may use the bolded content as level one headings within your paper

Introduce the reader to the content of this paper with an introductory paragraph.
PICOT. Create a clinical question in PICOT format to a problem identified within your present or former healthcare workplace. You can also use the PICOT clinical question you created in a previous module. Next, identify a qualitative and a quantitative article that are different from the ones previously selected but are related to your PICOT question.
    Qualitative Article:
Identify the study design of each according to the Hierarchy of Evidence, including the population (N) and sample (n) sizes.
Evaluate the trustworthiness, credibility, applicability, and consistency of the qualitative study.
Identify the statistical output used for data analysis. Provided clear descriptions of how researchers conducted their statistical analyses. Evaluate for common statistical errors
Identify study biases in each research article.
Discuss how the findings from each of these articles impact and inform the APN/APRN in a healthcare environment.

  • Paper 3 of 3

Week Eleven Paper: Best Practices for Implementation Identify Best Practices: Based on your literature review, propose one or more best practices that you would recommend for implementation to address your identified topic. These should be evidence-based practices that align with your clinical question. Select an EBP Model: After identifying the intervention, refer to Chapter 14 to review the Current Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Models. Select the model that best aligns with the problem you are aiming to solve. Discuss the pros and cons of implementing your selected best practice intervention within your clinical setting. Ethical and Cultural Considerations: Consider whether there are any ethical or cultural factors to take into account when implementing your recommended best practice. Reflect on the implications of these considerations for both patients and healthcare professionals. (Note: If you are proposing interventional changes, consider what resources or support you would need from your organization to make this possible.) Guidelines for the Paper Structure: Implementation of Change: Describe the process to implement the identified best practice in your clinical setting. Consider what steps are needed to integrate the change into everyday practice. Evaluation of the Process and Outcomes: Discuss how you will evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention once implemented. What measures will you use to track success and improvements? Cost Analysis: Provide an estimate of the costs of implementing this change in your facility. This may include resource requirements, training, equipment, or staffing adjustments. Recommendations for Change: Offer your recommendations for how the change can be effectively implemented. Consider the steps, timelines, and personnel needed for successful integration. Ethical or Cultural Considerations: Reflect on any potential ethical or cultural concerns that arise with the adoption of the proposed practice.
