After reading Chapter 2 of our text, compose a PICO-format intervention-based clinical question related to your topic of choice (your practice problem) for your Synthesis I and II Papers and Synthesis III Presentation (write out your complete clinical question in PICO format first in your post).

The PICO question should identify population (P), intervention (I), comparison (C), intervention (I), and outcome (O). You will likely not have a T for these assignments timing, as you are describing an evidence-based practice intervention rather than setting up research.

    • Three

    Basic Research Designs

And include at least one in-text citation. This is different from weeks 5 paper, research types. Please DO NOT talk about the types of research. In the second paragraph, discuss the different qualitative designs (ethnography, phenomenological, etc.). When are these designs used? In the third paragraph, discuss mixed method designs. When are these designs used? Fourth paragraph you could compare and contrast the different designs or discuss which designs you are going to use for your topic choice and why.

    Quantitative –

    Additional Research Questions

This section of the assignment contains all corresponding questions (what else do you want to know besides your three initial research questions from above) used with your basic designs…. must be at least one fully formed paragraph (at least 5 sentences in length).

    Analytical Methods

Provides the analytical methods you plan to use based on the type of research chosen in week 5 paper: quantitative – statistical or inferential statistics, through surveys; qualitative – interviews, focus groups, observation (themes, patterns, and connections), must be at least three fully formed paragraphs (at least 5 sentences in length). And include at least one in-text citation.

In paragraph one, give an overview of your chosen research method. Ex:

For my Week 5 paper, I selected a qualitative research approach to explore the personal experiences and perspectives of participants related to [insert your topic]. This method is appropriate for gaining a deeper understanding of complex human behaviors, motivations, and social interactions that cannot be easily quantified. By using techniques such as interviews and observations, I aim to collect rich, detailed narratives. These tools allow for the capture of participants’ emotions, attitudes, and lived experiences in a natural setting. The qualitative approach also supports flexibility and responsiveness in the data collection process, which enhances the authenticity of the results.

In paragraph two, discuss an analytical method(s) to be used. Ex:

To analyze the data collected, I will use thematic analysis, a method that involves identifying, analyzing, and interpreting patterns or themes within qualitative data. After transcribing the interviews and observational notes, I will code the data by grouping similar ideas or statements together. From these codes, I will develop broader themes that capture the essence of participants responses. This process allows for the recognition of meaningful connections across different participants and situations.

In paragraph three, discuss the importance of the analytical method(s). Ex:

Using thematic analysis ensures that the voices of participants remain central to the research findings. This method allows me to interpret not just what participants say, but how and why they express certain views, leading to a more comprehensive understanding of the topic. Identifying themes through interviews or observations helps validate findings by highlighting consistency. Furthermore, this analytical method supports the exploration of nuanced insights that might be overlooked in a purely statistical approach. Ultimately, the use of qualitative analysis enhances the depth and credibility of the research, making it a valuable tool for examining complex social phenomena.

    Conclusion

The conclusion to the paper is at least 5 sentences, summarizes at least 3 key points, and has one in-text citation.

  • MSN 563 evidence based inquiry for scholarship and practice

The purpose of the signature assignment is for students to apply the research and EBP concepts they have learned in this course and develop a framework for the initial steps of the students capstone project. The assignment allows the student to initiate the steps for planning, researching and developing an evidence-based practice intervention project proposal. On or before Day 7 of week eight, each student will submit his or her final proposal paper to the week eight assignment link in D2L. This formal paper will include and expand upon work completed thus far in prior assignments. The introduction gives the reader an accurate, concrete understanding of what the project will cover and what can be gained from the implementation of this project. Overview of the Problem Discuss the problem, why the problem is worth exploring, and the potential contribution of the proposed project to the discipline of nursing. Project Purpose Statement Provide a declarative sentence or two that summarizes the specific topic and goals of the project. Background and Significance State the importance of the problem and emphasize what is innovative about your proposed project. Discuss the potential impact of your project on your anticipated results for the betterment of health and/or health outcomes. PICOT formatted Clinical Project Question(s) Provide the Population, Intervention, Comparison, Expected Outcomes, and Timeframe for the proposed project. Literature Review Provide the key terms used to guide a search for evidence and discuss at least five (5) summaries of relevant, credible, recent, evidence-based research studies to support the project proposal. Critical Appraisal of Literature Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence, what is known from the evidence, and what gaps in evidence were found from the appraisal of evidence-based research studies. Develop an EBP Standard Describe two to three interventions (or a bundle of care) from the evidence and discuss how individual patient preferences or the preferences of others will be considered. Implications Summarize the potential contributions of the proposed project for nursing research, education, and practice.
