HIPAA and appropriate social media use in health care
Prepare an interprofessional staff update on HIPAA and appropriate social media use in health care. This assignment will require you to develop a staff update for an interprofessional team to encourage team members to protect the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient information. For this assignment, you will prepare a two-page interprofessional staff update on HIPAA and appropriate social media use in health care. Select only one of the settings below that will become the focus of your interprofessional staff update: Skilled Nursing Facility: o Context: Skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) provide therapeutic services, rehabilitation, and continuous nursing care for patients who aren’t in an acute phase of illness but still require specialized care. Residents often stay for extended periods, and there’s a close-knit community feel. o Social Media Concern: Sharing moments from daily activities, therapies, or resident interactions can breach patient privacy, even if done with the best intentions. Mental Health and Rehabilitation Centers: o Context: These centers cater to individuals with mental health issues or those undergoing rehabilitation for substance abuse. The stigma associated with mental health and addiction makes privacy paramount. o Social Media Concern: Discussing patient progress, sharing stories, or even describing daily challenges can lead to unintentional disclosure of sensitive patient information. Preparation: Search the Internet for infographics about protecting PHI. These infographics should serve as examples of how to succinctly summarize evidence-based information about protecting the security, privacy, and confidentiality of patient data. Analyze the infographics and distill them into five or six principles of what makes them effective. As you design your interprofessional staff update, apply these principles. Note: In a staff update, you will not have all the images and graphics that an infographic might contain. Instead, focus your analysis on what makes the messaging effective. Select from any of the following options, or a combination of options, as the focus of your interprofessional staff update: o Social media best practices. o What not to do: social media. o Social media risks to patient information. o Steps to take if a breach occurs. Scenario: In this assignment, imagine you are a nurse in one of the health care settings below: Skilled Nursing Facility Mental Health and Rehabilitation Centers Before your shift begins, you scroll through Facebook and notice that a coworker has posted a photo of herself and a patient on Facebook and described how happy she is that her patient is making great progress. You have recently completed your annual continuing education requirements at work and realize this is a breach of your organization’s social media policy. Your organization requires employees to immediately report such breaches to the privacy officer to ensure the post is removed immediately and that the nurse responsible receives appropriate corrective action. You follow appropriate organizational protocols and report the breach to the privacy officer. The privacy officer takes swift action to remove the post. Due to the severity of the breach, the organization terminates the nurse. Based on this incident’s severity, your organization has established a task force with two main goals: Educate staff on HIPAA and appropriate social media use in health care. Prevent confidentiality, security, and privacy breaches. The task force has been charged with creating a series of interprofessional staff updates on the following topics: Social media best practices. What not to do: Social media. Social media risks to patient information. Steps to take if a breach occurs. Instructions: First, select only one of the health care settings below: Skilled Nursing Facility. Mental Health and Rehabilitation Centers. As a nurse in this setting, you are asked to create the content for a staff update. This staff update will be delivered using your organization’s internal communication platform and should be in the form of a social media post and should address one or more of these topics: Social media best practices. What not. to do: social media. Social media risks to patient information. Steps to take if a breach occurs. This assessment is not a traditional essay. It is a staff educational update about PHI. Staff are frequently overwhelmed with required trainings and often click through without learning. To catch the attention of your audience be creative. Create a social media post that delivers the information required in an easy-to-read fashion like an infographic where you use your creativity to make the staff update fun and engaging. The task force has asked team members assigned to the topics to include the following content in their updates in addition to content on their selected topics: What is protected health information (PHI)? o Be sure to include essential HIPAA information. What are privacy, security, and confidentiality? o Describe and provide examples of privacy, security, and confidentiality concerns related to the use of technology in health care. o Explain the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration to safeguard sensitive electronic health information. What evidence relating to social media usage and PHI do interprofessional team members need to be aware of? For example: o What are some examples of nurses being terminated for inappropriate social media use in the United States? o What types of sanctions have health care organizations imposed on interdisciplinary team members who have violated social media policies? o What have been the financial penalties assessed against health care organizations for inappropriate social media use? o What evidence-based strategies have health care organizations employed to prevent or reduce confidentiality, privacy, and security breaches, particularly related to social media usage? Notes Be selective about the content you choose to include. Include need-to-know information. Omit nice-to-know information. Many times, people do not read staff updates, do not read them carefully, or do not read them to the end. Ensure your staff update piques staff members’ interest, highlights key points, and is easy to read/view. Avoid overcrowding the update with too much content. Also, supply a separate reference page that includes two or three peer-reviewed and one or two non-peer-reviewed resources (for a total of 35 resources) to support the staff update content. Additional Requirements Written communication: Ensure the staff update is free from errors that detract from the overall message. Submission length: Maximum of two double-spaced content pages. Font and font size: Use Times New Roman, 12-point. Citations and references: Provide a separate reference page that includes 23 current, peer-reviewed and 12 current, non-peer-reviewed in-text citations and references (total of 35 resources) that support the staff update’s content. Current means no older than 5 years. APA format: Be sure your citations and references adhere to APA format. Please also refer to the attached rubric.

Back pain
Back Pain Low back pain (LBP) is highly prevalent in the United States and globally, resulting in functional impairment and lowered quality of life. A history and physical examination should place patients into one of several categories: (1) nonspecific low back pain; (2) back pain associated with radiculopathy or spinal stenosis; (3) back pain referred from a non-spinal source; or (4) back pain associated with another specific spinal cause. Clinical practice guidelines can be powerful tools for promoting evidence-based practice, as they integrate research findings in order to support decision making. Discuss the management plan, the clinical guidelines, and the evidence-based practice specific to the four back pain categories. Assignment Requirements: Before finalizing your work, you should: be sure to read the assignment description carefully (as displayed above); consult the grading rubric (located in Course Resources, Grading Rubrics submodule) to make sure you have included everything necessary; and utilize spelling and grammar check to minimize errors. Your writing assignment should: follow the conventions of Standard English (correct grammar, punctuation, etc.); be well ordered, logical, and unified as well as original and insightful; display superior content, organization, style, and mechanics; and Use APA 7th edition format and at least 3 evidence based resources to support your work. References no more than 5 years old. Keep this assignment to no more than a double-spaced 3-page essay in 12 point font would have about 750 words approximately 250 words per page.Attached Files (PDF/DOCX): NU566 wk 6 assn.pdf

Improving medication safety and reducing adverse drug events
Write a 4 page evidence-based proposal to support the need for a nurse informaticist in an organization who would focus on improving health care outcomes. Preparation: First review the focus of the new nurse informaticist position you will propose by examining the description below. You will write your evidence-based proposal to support the need for a new nurse informaticist who would focus on improving medication safety and reducing adverse drug events. Improving Medication Safety and Reducing Adverse Drug Events: o Background: Adverse drug events (ADEs) are injuries resulting from medical interventions related to a drug. o Evidence: ADEs are a significant cause of hospitalizations and deaths. Many of these are preventable with proper medication reconciliation, patient education, and technology that helps with tracking and alerting healthcare providers about potential drug interactions. Scenario: For this assessment, assume you are a nurse attending a meeting of your states nurses association. A nurse informaticist conducted a presentation on their role and its impact on positive patient and organizational outcomes in their workplace. You realize that your organization is undergoing many technological changes. You believe this type of role could provide many benefits to your organization. The focus of the new nurse informaticist position you will propose would be on improving medication safety and reducing adverse drug events. You decide to pursue proposing a nurse informaticist role in your organization. You speak to your chief nursing officer (CNO) and human resources (HR) manager, who ask you to prepare a 4 page evidence-based proposal to support the new role. In this way, they can make an informed decision as to whether the addition of such a role could justify the return on investment (ROI). They need your proposal before an upcoming fiscal meeting. This is not an essay, but instead, it is a proposal to create a new Nurse Informaticist position. One important part of this assessment is the justification of the need for a nurse informaticist in a health care organization and references from relevant and timely scholarly or professional resources to support the justification for creating this nurse informaticist position. The term justify means to show or prove that the nurse informaticist position brings value to the organization. This justification must include evidence from the literature to support that this position will provide a return on investment for the organization. Proposal Format: The chief nursing officer (CNO) and human resources (HR) manager have asked you to include the headings below in your proposal and to be sure to address the bullets following each heading. Remember that you will emphasize the focus of the new nurse informaticist position as described in improving medication safety and reducing adverse drug events. Nursing Informatics and the Nurse Informaticist What is nursing informatics? What is the role of the nurse informaticist? Highlight one influential nurse informaticist and their contributions to nursing. Nurse Informaticists and Other Health Care Organizations What is the experience of other health care organizations with nurse informaticists? How do these nurse informaticists collaborate with the rest of the nursing staff and the interdisciplinary team? Impact of Full Nurse Engagement in Health Care Technology How does fully engaging nurses in health care technology impact: o Patient care? o Protected health information (security, privacy, and confidentiality)? In this section, you will explain evidence-based strategies that the nurse informaticist and interdisciplinary team can use to effectively manage patients’ protected health information, particularly privacy, security, and confidentiality. Evidence-based means that they are supported by evidence from scholarly sources. o Workflow? o Costs and return on investment? Opportunities and Challenges What are the opportunities and challenges for nurses and the interdisciplinary team with the addition of a nurse informaticist role? o How can the interdisciplinary team collaborate to improve quality care outcomes through technology? Summary of Recommendations What are 34 key takeaways from your proposal about the recommended nurse informaticist role that you want the CNO and the HR manager to remember? o This is the section where the justification for the implementation of the nursing informaticist role is addressed. Remember to include evidence from the literature to support your recommendation. Additional Requirements: Written communication: Ensure written communication is free of errors that detract from the overall message. Submission length: 4 double-spaced pages, plus a title and references pages. Font: Times New Roman, 12 point. Citations and References: Cite a minimum of three current scholarly and/or authoritative sources to support your ideas. In addition, cite a minimum of one current professional blog or website to support your central ideas. Current means no more than five years old. APA formatting: Be sure to follow APA formatting and style guidelines for citations and references. Please also refer to the attached rubric.

NURS 602 Test Development Assignment
Directions
For this assignment, you will develop each of the following in a Word document:
Two (2) measurable learning objectives for your test
Ten (10) NCLEX-RN style questions with rationales (explanations)
Test blueprint indicating question alignment with NCSBNs NCLEX-RN categories and Blooms Taxonomy levels for each question
For this assignment, you are not writing a formal APA paper; however, a reference page is required to show sources used in question development.
1. Develop 2 learning objectives for your test following the guidelines for objective writing posted in the course. Each objective must be measurable.
2. Using your class resources and guidelines below develop a 10-item NCLEX-RN style test for second-year Associate or senior year Bachelor degree nursing students. Follow these guidelines:
a. You may use any concepts/topics that would be taught to a second / senior year nursing student.
b. Five (5) of your 10 questions are to be multiple-choice format questions
i. With these 5 questions, each question will have a stem, 1 key, and 3 plausible distractors.
c. Five (5) of your 10 questions are to be a combination of multiple response (select all that apply [SATA]) and alternate format questions (all must be NCLEX-RN format).
i. Review NCSBNs test plan for approved alternate format question types, examples, and guidance on question formatting prior to writing your test questions.
ii. Do NOT write any Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) style questions.
d. Five (5) of your 10 questions are to be written at the remember and understand levels of Blooms Taxonomy.
e. Five (5) of your 10 questions are to be written at the apply and analyze levels of Blooms Taxonomy to prepare students for success on the NCLEX-RN test and to develop critical thinking.
3. Develop clear, thorough rationales (explanations) for each of your 10-item NCLEX-RN style questions. Follow these guidelines:
a. This is where student learning occurs. The explanation is a teaching tool to clarify why the correct answer is the proper action to take or decision to make. Similarly, the explanation needs to clarify why each incorrect option should not be done or are not the proper decisions in this situation. The explanation should not explicitly state the fact that the distracters are incorrect.
4. Using your texts, class resources, and table below develop a test blueprint for your 10-item NCLEX-RN style test.
a. Paste the table below in your groups Word document. Place the two (2) learning objectives your group developed as the tables rows. Then, place the actual question number into the appropriate box for objective and Blooms taxonomy level alignment. Each question number should only be used once. Indicate the number of the question in the appropriate box of the table (i.e., #3, #4, or #10). You may list more than 1 question number in each box, if needed.
b. For each question, identify the appropriate category of the NCLEX-RN Test Plan in which the question would fall (see the NCLEX-RN test plan posted in the course for NCSBNs current distribution scale).
If a test bank or AI is used to create your test, you will receive a zero on the assignment. A quick Internet search will show test bank questions and AI usage. Using a test bank or AI does not facilitate any learning.
Submission and Evaluation Criteria:
Refer to the grading rubric posted in the course. All points must be adequately addressed to receive full credit. Submit the completed assignment to the corresponding assignment drop box by the due date listed on the course calendar. The NurseTim webinar should be completed and submitted to the corresponding assignment drop box by the due date listed on the course calendar.
