Write your PICOT question. Discuss the qualitative nature and purpose of the study you have chosen. How do you know this is a qualitative study? What type of qualitative study is it? What is the purpose of the study?

    PICOT question:

In hospitalized patients (P), how does nurse training and consistent implementation of pressure injury prevention protocols (I), compared to no standardized training and inconsistent implementation (C), influence the development of hospital-acquired pressure injuries (O) during their hospital stay (T)?

This is a qualitative study because it provides insight into nurses experiences, behaviors, and beliefs related to pressure injury prevention through interviews. This is a descriptive qualitative study, which is used to describe nurses experiences with pressure injury prevention in clinical practice. The purpose of this study is to understand nurses perspectives and explore what strategies they use to guide their practice (Li et al., 2022).

    2. Discuss the method of the study. How did the researchers collect the data? Is this method adequate to address the purpose of the study? What is the sample in the study, and is it appropriate, given the method?

For this study, the researchers met with 27 registered nurses to conduct interviews. The interviews were audio-recorded, and data were collected from the nurses responses. This interview method is adequate for the study because it allows the researchers to gain a deeper understanding of nurses perceptions and experiences related to pressure injury prevention practices. The sample for this study included 27 registered nurses. This is an appropriate sample size because it provides sufficient information to explore their experiences and insights.

    3. Summarize the findings of the study. What is the projected significance of the study to nursing? What are the recommendations for future study?

This study is significant to nursing because pressure injuries are still an ongoing critical problem in hospitals. Nurses perceptions and experiences influence how pressure injury prevention protocols are implemented and carried out in clinical practice. This is why it is essential to strengthen pressure injury prevention efforts through consistent implementation, staff training, and improved nursing policies. For future study, I would recommend examining patients perspectives on pressure injury prevention to improve education and reduce complications (Roderman et al., 2024). I would also recommend testing interventions that address the barriers nurses experience in order to improve compliance and patient outcomes.
