You are to write a discussion of a clinical case study, providing logical and critical analysis of the material learned with respect to cranial and spinal nerves. Your paper discussion requires the have the following elements.

A Proper Title with your name and CWID under it.

A heading called Introduction ( max. 250 words)

• This introduction section needs to have a few paragraphs, introducing cranial and spinal nerves and their main function.
• It needs to have an elaboration into the clinical significance with respect to examination of their functions.
• Add a final paragraph that indicates that the purpose of this paper is to examine a medical case study to critically analyze symptoms and correlate those with specific nerves.

A 55 year old male recently got in car accident. A car struck his car from the left side and the patient was not wearing a seat belt. While the impact was not severe, the patients head and shoulder received a strong impact into the drivers side of the car.

The patient presents the following symptoms: right eye is normal, but left eye indicates mydriasis, ptosis and a down and out left tilt to the eye. Although the right eye seems to present as normal, the patient indicates that the reason for the accident was that he seemed to have lost some vision in his right eye before the impact. The doctor suspects the normal eye to have initial stages of left nasal hemianopsia. Finally, the patient also complains about persistent tingling in left pinky and ring finger.

• In this section, you will provide a logical discussion of the symptoms with arguments for and against the choice for which nerve you think is involved with the symptoms.

Then, using logical and critical thinking, explain what cranial nerves could be involved and which ones are obviously not a good candidate. Present 5 obvious cranial nerves, with their function and thus the reason for inclusion/exclusion. Using more detailed information, determine now which cranial nerve is the culprit and back up your conclusion.
• In a second paragraph, approach the second issue: hemianospia. Once again, explain the terminology. This requires a small discussion on visual pathways and then a few proper possibilities for the reason the patient has this issue.
• In a final paragraph, why do you think this patient is having the finger issues ? Once again, use proper arguments (for and against) in your analysis.

A last heading called Conclusion (max. 100 words)

• In this section, summarize all the suspected problems this patient is facing and conclude with your suggestion for an additional follow- up examination or procedure to be recommended in order to make an exact decisions.
