    Discussion Prompt

In the United States, there are many ways in which governmental entities and laws work to ensure that quality healthcare is delivered safely. Healthcare’s Iron Triangle consists of the following three attributes: access, cost, and quality. The triangle illustrates that there are inherent trade-offs in healthcare. You can improve one attribute, but it will be at the expense of the others. Please watch the following YouTube video (4 minutes) that provides a brief overview of this triangle (you will need to do more research on your own). Then, answer the following questions in your discussion post.

For this discussion, please address the following questions:

    1. Explain how the “iron of the healthcare triangle” works and how changing one element can negatively impact the other elements. Give a specific, concrete example from your research.
    2. Do we need government and laws to ensure safe, quality care? What is the intent/purpose of regulations?
    3. Provide one specific example of a governmental healthcare regulation (rule). Describe the law and discuss how it affects one or more attributes in Healthcare’s Iron Triangle.

  • Stress reduction skills for new graduate nurses

The purpose of this assignment is for students to incorporate the principles of holistic patient care in developing and implementing a teaching project for a selected population. The convenience population for the project will be at the student’s discretion. Students will (1) access their group, (2) evaluate the groups holistic learning needs, (3) implement a teaching plan related to a selected health promotion topic, and (4) evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching. Instructions: Complete the teaching plan worksheet attached. Please type directly on the worksheet and submit in Blackboard when complete. Be sure to include references from credible sources and use in-text citations when appropriate. Example (Author, year) at the end of the information. ” One of the concepts I would explain to a group of new grad nurses is, stress reduction skills; guided breathing and positive visualization. Holistic nursing includes self care as well as for the patient. This works well when being overstimulated due to anxiety, difficult work assignments, and toxic work environments. Work and life balance is not much of an option for newer nurses. They are usually given the less sought after shifts and difficult patients. Being novice nurses and not feeling capable of speaking out against unfair treatments due to no experience. Holistic care can support them between difficult shifts, poor staff ratios and unfortunate patient outcomes. ” Additional Resources: American Holistic Nursing Association Guide to creating a teaching plan SMART Goals

    Class,

This week, I have created a fictitious case study to help you critically think about the content in this weeks threaded discussion. This case study focuses on smart watches, since this health technology has improved significantly over the past few years, enabling many watches to detect ventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and second- or third-degree atrioventricular block (Pay, 2023). Please read through the scenario below and then answer the questions that follow.

Maria, a 45-year-old woman with no known cardiac history, arrives at your urgent care clinic worried about an irregular heart rate reading on her Apple Watch. Earlier in the day, after completing a vigorous workout, the device alerted her to a possible arrhythmia. She reports no chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, or other symptoms.

Maria shows you screenshots of her heart rate trends, since she cannot link the data to the clinics electronic health record (EHR). She says she Googled irregular heart rhythm and became anxious after reading about sudden cardiac arrest or even death. On your physical exam, you note her vitals and ECG are within normal limits. Maria admits she has been wearing the watch constantly and checks her heart rate multiple times a day. She has a family history of cardiac arrest, so she is extra vigilant and anxious about her heart health. She asks whether she should buy a medical-grade heart monitor.

As a nurse practitioner, you must decide how to address Marias concerns, interpret the wearable data responsibly, and educate her without dismissing her fears.

Clinical judgement questions (answer as many as you would like):

    1. What steps would you take to critically evaluate the reliability and clinical relevance of Marias wearable heart rate data?

    2. How would you communicate the limitations of consumer-grade wearables while maintaining patient trust and encouraging healthy self-monitoring behaviors?

    3. What strategies could prevent unnecessary ED visits triggered by consumer health alerts while ensuring serious conditions are not overlooked?

    4. How might improved interoperability or decision-support tools enhance safe and efficient use of wearable data in similar scenarios?

    5. What ethical or privacy considerations arise when patient-generated health data is stored outside the healthcare system?

    Looking forward to your responses,

  • Patient care delivery change

Assessment Description There will be times when the doctorally prepared advanced practice nurse will need to suggest a change in patient care delivery. It will be important for the doctorally prepared advanced practice nurse to understand how to deliver information and what information should be shared with an audience. This assignment will give you practice with presentation software along with preparing you to provide specific information for your proposed changes. This is a two-part assignment that will also give you practice in presenting to administrators. General Requirements: Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment: Refer to the resource, “Creating Effective PowerPoint Presentations,” located in the Student Success Center, for additional guidance on completing this assignment in the appropriate style. Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center. This assignment requires that at least two additional scholarly research sources related to this topic and at least one in-text citation from each source. This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion. You are not required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite. Learners will submit this assignment using the assignment dropbox in the digital classroom. In addition, learners must upload this deliverable to the Learner Dissertation Page (LDP) in the DNP PI Workspace for later use. Directions: Part 1: Create a 12-15 slide presentation (PowerPoint or Prezi, include a voice-over no longer than 30 minutes) that presents a proposed change in patient care delivery related to your DPI Project. The presentation must demonstrate considerations for finance, quality, patient safety, and patient experience. If you are completing a PowerPoint presentation: The speaker notes must contain a detailed script of your presentation, as if you were verbally presenting. The speaker notes must include embedded citations supporting your presentation. If you are completing a Prezi: Citations supporting your presentation need to be embedded. Include the following: Background of issue SWOT analysis The proposed solution How the solution meets the need of the population (stakeholders, cost, and payer to proposed change) Proposed change process Expected outcomes Implications that are realistic and aligned with current and future health care financing Part 2: Present your presentation to at least one administrator. Inform the administrator on the purpose of the assignment and that you will be seeking feedback on content and delivery. This is an opportunity to practice presenting to the executive team. Write a brief summary (100-250 words) of the feedback given to you by the administrator(s).
