This assignment is the most challenging part, although it consists of four (4) relatively short steps.

Step #1: After writing your “refined” RQ, please reflect, in no less than 50 words, about: Why did you choose this research topic?

STEP #2: Download the file (.doc) attached, called Lehman’s Matrix. This might help you to organize the most important findings of your selected papers. In row #1 (top), identify the column by its main author and the publication yr. Repeat this for each article. Your Lehman’s Matrix template is unique to this session and may differ from assignments in previous years.

Step #3: Skim your selected papers, and look specifically for population/sample (P), Time(T), and outcome/conclusion. In the Literature Review section of each paper, try to identify which similarities they have. Similarities (2) means that, in different ways, two or more papers are addressing the same problem/phenomena.

What is/are the Research Question(s) or hypothesis/es under analysis/es? Did the author(s) validate his/their hypothesis or research question? Please repeat this for each article.

Step #4: Reflect on the gap you notice in the literature or the disagreement among authors. Discuss two (2) major disagreements among your papers. Please repeat this for each article. List each in the matrix table.

Following the “matrix table” (see the prompt) is a very basic approach recommended by Lehmans Library. Please follow the steps #1, #2, and #3 for each academic paper. When you are done, you will be able to easily see which articles share common themes and where there are gaps in the research regarding coverage of certain concepts. Do not forget to list papers’ authors alphabetically!

Background and Context

As a master’s level health care practitioner, you may sometimes be tasked with the need to complete a systematic evaluation as a way of improving your organizations outcomes. In this weeks assignment, you will have a chance to practice these skills by completing a systematic evaluation of a unit, facility, or organization that you are familiar with in an attempt to identify the need to address the economic health care issue that you presented in your Week 3 assignment.
