Select a topic in which you have a special interest. Mine is the outdoors. Only write about something about which
you feel excited. Your writing will be more successful if you choose a topic in which you
have a personal investment.
3. Write your personal essay. Include the following:
clear organization,
vivid and significant details, incorporating the five senses,
figurative language (metaphors and similes) to add to the description,
strong overall writing,
and a theme or a universal meaning for your reader.
