  • Brain Anatomy Project

    InstructionsOverview

This assignment asks students to review brain anatomy by using a variety of research articles to address a specific brain disorder of their choice. Students will describe the research methods used in the research and create a visual representation of the brain and affected areas.

    Outcomes

    Module 1

    3. Identify and apply the different types of research used in psychology. (CLO B, C)

    5. Write and speak clearly and logically in discussions about topics related to the history of psychology, research or ethics. (CLO K, L, M)

    Module 2

    1. Identify major structures of the brain, including neurons, neurotransmitters. (CLO C)

    3. Write and speak clearly and logically in discussions about topics related to the brain. (CLO K, L, M)

    Instructions

Using an anatomic diagram of the brain as a guide, you are going to research and create a brain map of your own for a specific healthcare audience.

    Research

Choose an audience for your brain map. For instance, you might pick an audience of acute care nurses or parents of children who are neurologically divergent.

After choosing an audience, you will research this audience to develop a short visual presentation to teach them about brain anatomy that is relevant to them. For example, if you were to pick an audience of acute care nurses, you might focus your research and presentation on parts of the brain that deal with stress; if you were to pick parents of people who are neurologically divergent, you might focus your research and presentation on parts of the brain that are implicated in autism.

In addition to your textbook, please use at least one of our additional module readings (such as a Noba reading) and at least one other scholarly or peer-reviewed sources to research the specific audience or function of the brain on which you plan to present. You can use your college library and/or Google Scholar to find additional scholarly or peer-reviewed sources.

    Project

Use the Brain Anatomy Project Rubric to guide your project. You have the choice to produce a slide deck (PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.) or to create a multi-page infographic or educational brochure on an application like Canva. Make sure that the file you upload to the assignment submission folder is either a PowerPoint or a PDF file. Other file types will not be graded due to being inaccessible with the assignment submission tool.

Your slide deck, brochure, or infographic may use bullet points and illustrations to organize and convey information. Slide decks should be approximately ten slides total, plus a title slide and a slide for references.

Here is the format your document should follow:

    Introduction

Your first slides or pages should specify your audience. Who are you speaking to and why does this presentation matter to them? Please include information on your research, telling us the type of research used (case studies, correlational studies, experiments, etc.) in the studies you read, and any problems or limitations with the information (for example small or narrow samples, biased research)?

    Presentation Body

Identify the parts of the brain specific to your audience and explain the function and importance of these parts of the brain.

In addition to these areas, please also include the structure and function of the following brain areas:

    • Amygdala
    • Basal ganglia
    • Corpus callosum
    • Hypothalamus
    • Hippocampus
    • Insula
    • Cingulate gyrus
    • Medulla
    • Frontal lobes: Brocas area as well
    • Temporal lobe
    • Parietal lobe
    • Occipital lobe
    • Striatum

Focus on the correct placement of these structures and the functions. These areas all have multiple functions, so take the time to explore multiple functions. You may use several sources to finish this brain tour including 3D brain maps on the web.

    References

Please include a Reference slide or page at the end of your presentation. Use APA format.

  • PHYSCI 5 Final Project

Hi. My assignment is literally viewing the tables that I have made and then writing a very long discussion about my results. There is also a recommendation section and a family history section swell as well.I tracked my diet for 7 days and then made a few tables, diet table, training table, and family history table of diseases. Ive attached an example project, the project guidelines, the document with the tables, and the data print outs just in case the tables are lacking something. Also there is no specific amount of pages required. But if you could please take a look at the example project you will see roughly how long the discussion should be.

  • Social Media Relationships

Social media seems to be all around us. The Internet and social media influence our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in many ways. Technological tools have changed our social world; consider how technology has shaped your interactions with people and influenced your relationships (for better or worse). People feel anonymous on the Internet and they feel protected by hiding behind a screen. While this can help people express their true selves in some aspects, it also frees people of the constraints of social pressures. In some cases, this can lead people to behave in aggressive or cruel ways. In other cases, this can lead people to make new connections and develop deeper relationships.

In this assessment, you’ll create a short presentation to explore the psychological effects of the Internet on the way we interact with one another. You will also create a short video to show off what you’ve learned about communicating on social media.
