As reviewed in the Neural Development subsection of this module, a wide range of neural and brain developments contribute to how children psychologically develop. The goal of this assignment is to provide you additional insight into neural and brain development, as well as some context from a leading scholar in the area of neuroscience and development.

For this assignment, you will first view this TED Talk video:

After viewing the video, please reflect on the wide variety of ages in which “adulthood” can be defined. For example, due to various federal and state regulations here in the United States, there is no single age marker for all adult rights and responsibilities. The voting age, the age of consent, the age at which one can marry, drive a vehicle, serve in the military, hold a job, leave school, be tried as an adult for a crime, use tobacco or alcohol, sign a contract, or take responsibility for one’s own medical information — can span a period of several years. Please select one or two of the above markers of adulthood, or one or two not mentioned above, and discuss whether the current laws in your state or nation, or the state or nation in which you currently reside, are consistent with what you are learning about brain development in this module.

Into your reflection, please incorporate the answers to the following questions:

    • What period does the speaker define as beginning with puberty and ending with an
    • autonomous role in society?
    • What neural region does the speaker propose is associated with performing many high level cognitive processes?
    • What, specifically, does the speaker propose develops rapidly in later adolescence, as is illustrated by data that show a rapid decline in error rates in the Director and No-Director experiments?

For a submission to receive full credit, the answers to the aforementioned questions must be correct and the full response will be at least 2-3 paragraphs.

  • JAS #1

You will read and summarize attached peer-reviewed professional journal article.

You should be sure that the reference and citation that you provide within the first box are formatted correctly according to APA style. You should provide a brief overview of why the article was written including the key concepts being discussed. You should provide a summary of the three main takeaways of the article (this should be your longest section). Lastly, you should provide a summary of the researchers’ interpretation of their findings and conclusions.

    • Although there is not “minimum” amount required per answer, to fully respond to the question, a minimum of 3-4 sentences is recommended. Do not quote the article; summarize and paraphrase without plagiarizing the article.
    • You don’t need to provide citations as the purpose of the assignment is to summarize the article and the reference/citation is the first part of the assignment.
    • Please use the instructions for how to properly cite in APA format.
    • You MUST use the template (JASForm) provided. Please write your answers in single-space format.

  • Journal 2

Entries will be graded for use of class concepts and meaningful engagement (connection) with those concepts for that week. Entries should be clear, understandable, and about 300 – 400 words long (500 words maximum).

    • 5 pts: Name and briefly define the class concept(s) you are applying/exploring from that week’s material.
    • 5 pts: Thoughtfully connect with course material via a process that expands the depth of your learning (e.g., reflection, exploration, application, integration, etc.) and makes clear what you took away (e.g., learned, realized, will consider going forward).

Journal 2 Prompts (select only one to complete):

    • Do you think that your early attachments have had an impact on your later relationships? If so, how? If not, why not?
    • Do you think you have an internal working model of attachment relationships? If so, how would you describe it?
    • Reflect on your own attachment style or the attachment of someone you know. Which style most fits you or someone you know? Why?
  • Health-Related Physical Fitness Testing and Interpretation

Hi, please ONLY complete the discussion portion of the lab assignment.

    Discussion:

Assess the overall health of the individual assigned to you in the first paragraph

In the subsequent paragraphs provide support for your assessment giving examples from the raw patient data set, results or comparison to standards such as listed in the assigned texts. ACSM and EP

Explain the action and physiological mechanism of all medication listed in your discussion and how these medications affect your assessment. As a health care provider this is your initial encounter where you examine the goals, history and baseline information that a client presents to you before you conduct any testing

The discussion should not contain dietary recommendations or formal exercise recommendations.

  • Week 4 Assignment MOs and SDs

Antecedents are stimuli that occur before a behavior and can influence behaviors. MOs and SDs are types of antecedents that play an important role in the occurrence of behaviors. Understanding the impact of these antecedents allows behavior analysts to manipulate these variables and influence client behavior in a meaningful way.

    Instructions

For this assignment, use the template .

    • This template has one column for similarities and one column for differences. In a bulleted format, fill in your analysis of the two concepts, placing similarities in the left column and differences in the right column.
    • There should be two or three examples in each column.

Once you fill out the similarities and differences, do the following below the columns:

    • Identify and describe three real situations from your environment or experience (please identify MOs and SDs in each of your examples).
    • There should be both an MO and SD in each example to show how these terms work together.
    • Identify which antecedent variable is the MO and which is the SD. Describe how they work together in the example you provided.

    Assignment Requirements

Your assignment should meet the following requirements:

    • Written communication: Should be free of errors that detract from the overall message.
    • APA formatting: References and citations are formatted according to current APA style guidelines. Use

    • Resources: 23 scholarly or professional resources. Resources should include the course text and a combination of seminal works.
    • Length: 23 double-spaced pages of content, in addition to the title page and references page.

    Refer to the

Please refer to the MOs and SDs rubric to ensure you understand the grading criteria for this assignment.

    Competencies Measured

By successfully completing this assignment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and rubric criteria:

    • Competency 2: Analyze the principles of behavior associated with response rates and stimulus control.
    • Analyze the similarities and differences between motivating operations and discriminative stimuli.
    • Identify relevant antecedent variables from real-life situations.
    • Provide examples of both the motivating operation and discriminative stimulus working together.
    • Competency 4: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly and consistent with expectations for professionals in the field of psychology.
    • Demonstrate an academic writing style through well-organized prose that follows assignment guidelines.

Students are assessed throughout a graduate program in professional counseling. Therefore, students must demonstrate competency in the following three areas: academic, professional, and clinical.

Academic refers to the student’s ability to achieve a 3.0 grade point average, and their ability to pass major examinations such as the Comprehensive Examination and the National Counselor Examination (NCE).

Professional refers to the student’s ability to understand and apply the ACA code of ethics, to understand and welcome diversity, to work as a team member, be part of a collaborative learning community, and be able to demonstrate constructive peer feedback.

Clinical refers to the student’s interpersonal competence to integrate counseling techniques and approaches, and the student’s motivation to engage in reflective practice for enhancing self and other awareness.

For this assignment, answer the following questions:

    (a) How can you prepare yourself for graduate study in each of these competency areas?

    (b) What information do you need to prepare yourself? Where can you find this information?

    (c) What do you think your role will be in helping your fellow students gain competency in these areas?

    (d) What do you think should happen if a student cannot demonstrate these competencies?
