Format and Requirements

This is a Federal Government course. If answers are not related to federal (USA) elected officials, Federal state bills and laws, or the Federal judicial system, the assignment will not be accepted for a grade.

PART 1: Who Represents You in Congress & Find a Bill

Objective:

You will identify your elected representatives in Congress and find a bill in the U.S. Congress that connects to an issue you care about. You will explain who represents you, what the bill is about, and what has happened with it so far.

Step 1: Who Represents You

Answer the following questions:

A. Who are the two U.S. Senators that represent the state of Texas?

B. Who is your U.S. House Representative (also called a Congressmember)?
Include the district number for the district where you live (must be in Texas).

C. List two issues that each of your three representatives (the two Senators and one House member) are focused on. Explain what each issue is and why it is important. (Total: 6 issues)

Step 2: Find a Bill

Find a current bill in the U.S. Congress (it can be active, passed, or inactive) and answer the following:

A. What is the bill title and number?

B. What is the bill trying to accomplish?
Read the title, summary, and full text to explain it in your own words.

C. What is the current status or outcome of the bill?
(For example: became law, passed one chamber, stopped in committee, etc.)

D. Why did you choose this bill?
Write at least one paragraph (45 complete sentences) explaining why this bill matters to you.

Week 7 – Final Paper

Deliverables
Your Week 7 final paper Assignment should be a comprehensive paper that includes practical and theoretical knowledge about the approved topic. Your final paper should be between 8 -10 pages long (incl. title page and reference page). Be sure the report is in MS Word, Times New Roman font, with double spacing and 1 inch margins all-around, no additional spaces allowed. Title page and reference(s) pages are required. Your paper must adhere to APA standards.

Your final deliverable for this project should provide detailed discussion on the topic that you selected in Week 2. Your paper should include both foundational knowledge of the topic as well as applicable uses in the work place today. Game and mobile phone features are not acceptable.

Prepare a 8-10 page double-spaced (including title or reference pages) research paper based on any topic in the text or something covered in this class.

Paper organization will include (this paper is NOT an outline):

Introduction
Clearly define the problem, issue, or desired topic that was researched.
Starts out broad and becomes more and more specific.
Body
Present the relevant literature and ideas.
Identify relations, contradictions, gaps, and inconsistencies in the literature.
Possible solutions to any problem(s) identified.
Conclusion
References (at least ten).
You may use web resources as references, however make sure to include all your resources and cite from them with author, year of publication, and the corresponding page or paragraph numbers. I already have the approved topic, outline and annotated bibliography. That is what you should rely on strictly.

Marsden Reflection Paper Assignment

Overview

What relevance does Christianity have to the life and work of the Christian scholar? Is Christian scholarship different from that of the non-Christian? Do Christian scholars have something to contribute to the academic community? These important questions, and others, are the focus of George Marsdens The Outrageous Idea of Christian Scholarship(Oxford, 1997). In this assignment, you will discuss the aforementioned questions while engaging Marsdens arguments and articulating your own understanding of what it means to think and do scholarship Christianly.

Instructions

For this assignment, you will begin by summarizing and evaluating Marsdens arguments. In the course of your discussion, you are to clearly describe how a Christian worldview shapes your own scholarship, both in terms of epistemology and in terms of the focus of your own research. The goal of your paper is to articulate the value and relevance of Christian scholarship. In the course of your discussion, you should also briefly identify challenges to the Christian scholar and Christian scholarship that are recent and may not have existed when Marsdens book was published.

To successfully complete this assignment, you must first carefully read Marsdens book.

In addition, this assignment should:

Include 12-14 pages, double-spaced, not counting any title page or references/works cited page.

Be prepared in current APA format.

Include at least 3 to 5 scholarly sources in addition to the Marsden book.

(1): the issue to be talked about is FEDERALISM. The Trump administration has been testing new levers for compelling states to follow its agenda, including using the National Guard and threats to cut federal funding.

1. Sumber Hukum dan Hierarki Peraturan

Di Indonesia, peraturan memiliki tingkatan. Peraturan yang lebih rendah tidak boleh bertentangan dengan peraturan yang lebih tinggi. Berdasarkan UU No. 12 Tahun 2011, hierarkinya adalah:

UUD 1945: Hukum dasar tertulis tertinggi.

Ketetapan MPR (Tap MPR).

Undang-Undang (UU) / Peraturan Pemerintah Pengganti UU (Perppu).

Peraturan Pemerintah (PP): Untuk menjalankan UU.

Peraturan Presiden (Perpres).

Peraturan Daerah (Perda) Provinsi.

Peraturan Daerah (Perda) Kabupaten/Kota.

2. Penggolongan Hukum di Indonesia

Secara garis besar, hukum di Indonesia dibagi menjadi dua ranah utama:

A. Hukum Publik

Mengatur hubungan antara warga negara dengan negara (kepentingan umum).

Hukum Tata Negara: Mengatur struktur organisasi negara.

Hukum Administrasi Negara: Mengatur tata cara birokrasi dan aparatur sipil.

Hukum Pidana: Mengatur perbuatan yang dilarang dan sanksinya (termuat dalam KUHP).

B. Hukum Privat (Perdata)

Mengatur hubungan antarindividu (kepentingan pribadi).

Hukum Perdata: Masalah waris, perkawinan, utang-piutang, dan kontrak (termuat dalam KUHPer).

Hukum Dagang: Mengatur urusan bisnis dan perniagaan.

3. Lembaga Peradilan (Kekuasaan Kehakiman)

Untuk menegakkan hukum, Indonesia memiliki beberapa lembaga peradilan di bawah Mahkamah Agung dan satu lembaga khusus:

Peradilan Umum: Menangani kasus pidana dan perdata (Pengadilan Negeri & Tinggi).

Peradilan Agama: Khusus untuk warga Muslim (perkawinan, waris, hibah).

Peradilan Tata Usaha Negara (PTUN): Menangani sengketa melawan keputusan pejabat pemerintah.

Peradilan Militer: Khusus untuk anggota TNI.

Mahkamah Konstitusi (MK): Lembaga independen yang bertugas menguji apakah sebuah UU bertentangan dengan UUD 1945.

4. Unsur Pluralisme Hukum

Salah satu ciri khas hukum Indonesia adalah pengakuan terhadap:

Hukum Adat: Aturan tidak tertulis yang hidup di masyarakat adat tertentu (diakui sepanjang tidak bertentangan dengan kepentingan nasional).

Hukum Islam: Diterapkan secara formal dalam hukum keluarga (melalui Pengadilan Agama) dan ekonomi syariah.

Fun Fact: Indonesia saat ini sedang dalam masa transisi menggunakan KUHP Baru (UU No. 1 Tahun 2023) yang akan mulai berlaku efektif secara menyeluruh pada tahun 2026 untuk menggantikan KUHP peninggalan kolonial Belanda.

McDavids et al. (2019) discussion is about Program Logic Models. Program Logic Models are visual representations of programs or initiatives. The typical components may or may not identify program objectives, but it should definitely include inputs, program components or activities, program outputs, and some combination of short, mid and/or long-term goals. In your placement, this framework will help you to understand how a policy, program, or initiative is designed or functions.

Identify a policy, program, or initiative at your placement site. Work collaboratively with your supervisor to identify areas where a program evaluation would be useful to them. This will ultimately be the cornerstone of your program evaluation project this semester.
