Presentation

You will present your PowerPoint in person during the scheduled class time. You must present and listen to everyone else’s presentation to earn credit for this assignment.

The time limit is 5 minutes. Your presentation should clearly state the topic, explain why it matters, present the key findings from your sources, address any gaps in the literature, and close with an overall conclusion. Include a reference slide of key sources cited.

Overview

The purpose of this executive briefing is to translate a researched human factors aviation safety issue into a clear, decision-focused presentation suitable for senior aviation leadership. The briefing should enable executives to quickly understand:

• The nature of the human factors problem
• Why does it present operational and safety risk
• How multiple human factors interact within the system
• What actions leadership should consider

Briefing Expectations

The presentation must demonstrate an integrated understanding of human factors theory and application. While slide order is flexible, the briefing must clearly address the following areas:

• Human factors definitions, principles, and concepts, and their relevance to aviation safety
• Human error classification, including the use of SHELL and/or HFACS
• Human performance limitations (e.g., fatigue, situational awareness, vision, spatial disorientation)
• Organizational and interpersonal influences, including leadership, communication, motivation, and attitude
• Crew Resource Management (CRM) principles and application in one or more aviation environments
• Human-centered design, including cockpit controls, layout, or other aviation workspaces
• Training and documentation, including SOPs, checklists, and job aids
• Evidence-based recommendations for reducing human error
• Clear and concise narration

Presentation Standards

• Minimum of 15 slides
• Narration is required (i can do this just include speaker notes)
• Include references
• Slides must be executive-level, not academic
• Limit content to 56 concise bullets per slide
• Use visuals, charts, or diagrams where appropriate
• Avoid dense text and theory-heavy explanations
• Focus on risk, impact, and leadership decisions
• If you use any images or charts, ensure that they’re in the correct APA format. Use the current APA format to credit all sources you may have used or quoted within the body of your presentation with in-text citations. Locate reliable references, taking care to rely on primary sources of information and avoid secondary sources. Review the rubric before starting your presentation. Cite the images you used to give credit to the rightful image owners. If using AI, please refer to your faculty advisor’s policy on usage. Your discussion will automatically be evaluated through Turnitin when you submit your assignment in this activity and checked for AI use.
