1.Article- Health Disparities: Creating Health Care Equity for Minorities

    Date: January 28, 2026

    Publisher: United Way NCA

This article discusses the major and unequal difference between the type, quality, and distribution of health care to minority individuals such as people who fall under the ALICE category of socioeconomic status. The key differences between what is accessible to certain poverty and ethnic groups for health care is unforgivingly established with very clear data showing which groups are more likely to receive speedy and quality healthcare. One example shown was for mental health counseling rates, Hispanic/Latino individuals received it at a rate of 7.9%, Black individuals received it at a rate of 8.9% while White individuals received 12.6%. Besides racial discrimination in health care disparities, there was also the effect of how much income individuals would make and the quality or coverage in health care they would receive. Low-income families were met with low quality health care facilities as well as finding it significantly harder to obtain good if any health coverage from insurance. This all relates to what we learned in this week’s chapters such as moral exclusion, what should humanely be accessible in terms of healthcare for everyone and what your status in society is correlates in an unfair way for many individuals who have never known a different way of life than what they were born into which should not be the case. As for mediation, these individuals while unfairly being restricted quality access for their health do have means in which to obtain it through the help of organizations who gather in order to provide what is needed for a person’s everyday life even if they don’t directly correlate to these health institutions.

This topic helped me to understand just how wide of a range these health discrepancies go for many communities. I was able to understand and correlate what we learned in the chapters we read to this subject pretty easily just because of how hand in hand these concepts cross together. What should be morally obligated to people clearly isn’t, but the efforts people make to mediate the issue as to help those in need is very clearly shown. This displays he idea of the mediator always being present in various forms. As for what this author should look into next for this topic, I believe if they connected with the mentioned ALICE indivduals to see exactly how they feel with this treatment as well as who helps to mediate the issue for them, would be very informative.

2.Title: “What is Reactive Abuse?” by Alex Bachert MPH July 3, 2024 for charliehealth.com

Synopsis: The article explores the manipulation and blame-shifting that happens all-too-often within abusive relationships. It all comes down to a power struggle, if one party holds more power over the other, they have the moral obligation to use that power for good and support . Too often men and women find themselves in positions within their relationships that are toxic and aggressive, and instead of communicating through the difficulties and hardships. The discipline and self control/value/ play such a large role in relationships that could possibly become toxic. This relates to both topics from this week, the topics of injustice and mediation. Injustice is shown in toxic relationships due to one party being controlled and reacting to that sense of being smothered. Mediation comes into plawyonce the courts are involved and want to finally work out the final aspects of the relationship.

Key Takeaway: Use the grey rock method and do not react in this kind of situation. I’ve learned in my life that if you ignore or even forgive your abuser, it takes all the power away like a vacuum.

  • Essay 3

Prepare a 2-3 page, APA-style essay based on your readings from Chapter 34 (Mediation) in which you recount a time that you served as a third-party mediator (whether it be in an official/professional capacity, such as a workplace dispute, or even just helping two friends mitigate a strong disagreement). Now, reference the 12 stages of Mediation (if you are using the 3rd edition of the text, it is figure 34.1 on pages 826-827). Address each of the 12 stages in your paper, illustrating how your mediation might fit into the stages.

NOTE: While you should be able to describe at least one item from each stage relevant to your scenario, it is unlikely (and not expected) that you comment on every facet of every stage.

    Instructions

For this Check-Up, you are acting as a counselor. You will find in your career that often you will need to provide more than medical advice; sometimes, you have to provide emotional support as well. In this case, you need to counsel your patient (Henok) about what he suspects he is experiencing.

Henok is a 55-year-old male. He was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, but has lived in the American South for the last 30 years. He has had a successful life as an industrial engineer and has made a very lucrative living. Henok got married when he was 45 years old and had twin boys when he was 47. He loves his wife and twin boys, but he is starting to feel restless and anxious, and he isn’t sure why. He signed up for a skydiving trip with his friends 2 weeks ago and loved it. Now, he wants to buy a motorcycle. He has come to you because he is experiencing chest pains. His EKG is normal, and all his bloodwork is normal. Everything points to him being physically healthy.

You ask a few questions and find out the following information:

    • He hasn’t been sleeping well.
    • He thinks he is a failure.
    • He recently had his black hair bleached blonde,
    • He bought a beach house and hasn’t told his wife yet.
    • He got the phone number of a female coworker to meet for drinks, but he felt guilty and threw it in the trashcan right away.
    • He has found himself missing his late father.

    Your job:

    1. Tell Henok what you think is going on (12 paragraphs).
    2. Tell Henok how you think he can best overcome these feelings (24 paragraphs).
    3. Make a referral for Henok (1 paragraph).
    4. Provide some encouragement for Henok (this is your conclusion).
    5. How did you reach these conclusions? What research helped you arrive at the decisions that you did?
  • High elevation adaption

Adaptations to living at high elevations, including metabolic rates, respiration rates, and hemoglobin concentrations, are shared by many Indigenous communities. These traits are heritable and passed on to the next generation. Athletes train at high elevations to reap the benefits of these adaptations, even in the short term. But it makes some people sick. Have you ever heard of altitude sickness? What’s up with that?
  • Death and dying

Write a 12 page essay (300600 words) drawing from Chapter 3.

    Choose ONE option:

    1. Compare how children and older adults typically understand or experience death (use concepts like irreversibility, death anxiety, or acceptance). Draw from the chapter and media.

    2. Reflect on how your own understanding of death has changed with age (or observe this in otherskeep general if preferred). Connect to socialization or life-stage theories in the chapter.

  • Psychology Question

    Overview

During Week 3, you discussed the basics of OBM, PM, and how the PDC-HS is used. The focus of this assignment is to expand upon that information in an applied way. You will identify a performance issue of concern that your organization is experiencing and complete an assessment. For example, technicians may not be taking data effectively or completing paperwork or billing in a timely manner. Once completed, you will develop a pinpoint or series of pinpoints to be used as a component of a larger measurement system to evaluate the employees performance.

    Preparation

To prepare for this assignment, complete the following:

    • Collaborate with your supervisor to identify a general performance of concern. For example, your supervisor may mention that task analyses are not being run as often as discrete trial instruction.
    • Complete a PDC-HS with your supervisor on the performance of concern.
    • Develop a measurement system including pinpoints for evaluation during your next assignment.
    • If you haven’t already, view the , which will help clarify your understanding of the assignment.

    Instructions

    In a 34 page paper:

    • Describe the workplace where you conducted the PDC-HS. Include all relevant details such as the organizations purpose, population of interest, the organizational structure, and how services are implemented (for example, whether the BCBA supervise technicians in a tiered model) (one paragraph).
    • Describe pinpointing as a behavior analytic way of defining performance behavior and how it differs from standard operational definitions (one paragraph).
    • Discuss the pinpoints you created as a component of your assessment and the overall findings of the PDC-HS. (two paragraphs).
    • Describe the measurement system and how you plan to collect, aggregate (for example, group together), and visually inspect the data (34 paragraphs)
      • Identify the dimensional measures (for example, duration, rate) that are relevant to each pinpoint.
      • Describe how you plan to collect these data (for example, paper and pencil, electronic system, et cetera).
      • Describe how you plan to visually inspect these data (for example, what type of graphs will you use, will you graph them in software or by hand, et cetera).
      • Discuss next steps, including how often you will collect data.
    • Conclude your discussion with a brief summarization of the information you presented (one paragraph).
    • Attach a copy of the PDC-HS that you completed as an appendix.

    Additional Requirements

Your assignment should also meet the following requirements:
