    Consider the following scenario:

Betty came to her second session with you describing what appear to be manic and depressive episodes. You have valid questions and concerns and want to get a formal psych eval.

How would you explain to Betty that you have concerns about her symptoms and want to refer her to see a psychiatrist for evaluation? Write out a mini script showing what you, the counselor, might say to Betty.

Respond to the following prompts using a mini script.

    • Provide an explanation of why counselors refer clients to a psychiatrist for a psych eval (what is and what is not in our scope of practice).
    • Explain what collaborative behavioral healthcare is.
    • Include a description of two circumstances when a counselor would refer a client for a psych evaluation.
    • Describe two circumstances when a counselor would use the Release of Information (ROI) signed by a client.
    • Include an empathetic reflection to Betty.

  • Midterm Activity Assignment: Altruism Project

Altruism is the ability and willingness to help others. When a student develops a spirit of cooperation, empathy and generosity, these qualities enhance every lesson learned in the classroom and beyond. Altruism is often taught as part of philosophy, religion or psychology classes, although it can fit with many different subjects. Altruism activities not only help students learn more about the concept, but also experience altruism themselves.

Assignment Instructions: Consider the different kinds of needs people might have, such as food, shelter, money, education, friendship or transportation. Compile a list of these needs and place them into categories, such as “material needs” and “emotional needs.” Once you have identified these needs, discuss whether or not these needs are being met for different members of society. For example, people from low-income areas may not have access to education.

After you have become more aware of needs in society, plan an altruistic project. For example; volunteering at a homeless shelter or holding a fundraiser for a school in a poorer area. Explain how this project can improve society and make an impact on people’s lives.

Assignment Requirements: APA format is required.Page 1 (title page), Page 2 (list of needs), Page 3 (altruistic project plan), and Page 4 (reference page).

Note: References and citations (in-text) are required to be in American Psychological Association (APA) format. Remember user resources located in the Plagiarism Information & APA Format Examples section for guidance.

PLEASE DO NOT COPY AND PASTE INFORMATION FROM SOURCES, THAT IS PLAGIARISM. PARAPHRASE OR SUMMARIZE INFORMATION. IF USING TURNITIN TO CHECK PLAGIARISM, BE SURE PERCENTAGE IS UNDER 20%.

  • Behaviorism v. Neuroscience

    Assessment Description

The integration of neuroscience and behaviorist psychology represents a complex and dynamic area of research essential for understanding the multifaceted mechanisms underlying human behavior. Neuroscience utilizes advanced techniques to explore and modify brain function to alleviate psychological symptoms. In contrast, behaviorist psychology focuses on altering observable behaviors through principles grounded in behaviorism. This contrast has created an ongoing debate between neuroscientific and behaviorist approaches in psychology. Navigating the debate to identify points of intersection requires a thorough understanding of the theoretical frameworks that shape each perspective in the debate, as these frameworks inform the development of research questions, methodologies, and interpretations. In this assignment, you will describe an ongoing debate between neuroscientific and behaviorist approaches including the theoretical frameworks, research methodologies, and interdisciplinary intersections that define it.

    General Requirements

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

    • This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
    • Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. Refer to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association for specific guidelines related to doctoral-level writing. The manual contains essential information on manuscript structure and content, clear and concise writing, and academic grammar and usage.
    • This assignment requires the inclusion of at least two scholarly research sources related to this topic and at least one in-text citation from each source.

    Directions

Write a paper (1,750-2,000 words) in which describe an ongoing debate between neuroscientific and behaviorist approaches including the theoretical frameworks, research methodologies, and interdisciplinary intersections that define it. Your response to each item below should appear as a separate section of the paper using the headings provided. In your paper, include the following:

    1. The Debate: A brief discussion in which you identify and frame an ongoing debate between neuroscientific and behaviorist approaches. Highlight key points of contention within this debate.
    2. Relevant Theoretical Frameworks: A research-supported discussion of the key neuroscientific and behaviorist theoretical frameworks that underpin the chosen debate. How does each theoretical framework shape the interpretation of empirical findings and contribute to the debate?
    3. Research Questions and Methodologies: A research-supported discussion of how the identified theoretical frameworks guided the development of research questions and the selection of research methodologies used on each side of the debate.
    4. Interdisciplinary Intersection: A research-supported discussion of how neuroscience and behaviorist psychology intersect with regard to the chosen debate. How does understanding the theoretical frameworks and research methodologies assist in the identification of commonalities that can improve the human condition and advance research?

Pretend you are tasked with teaching a group of adolescents about sexual anatomy, but with a twist: You must teach through the lens of pleasure instead of reproduction.

What would your talking points be?

Be sure to incorporate the role of the brain and the endocrine system in evoking sexual pleasure.

Make sure you are inclusive in regard to gender and sexual orientation.
