Final paper
Write a theoretically founded 8-10 page paper (not including reference section or title page) that applies one or several of the concepts (e.g., intergroup threat) covered in this class to a practical problem, community project or research program, that you have come across in your cultural exploration. The paper should summarize your self-guided cultural exploration, integrating key concepts from class lectures and group discussions. The paper should give a rationale for choosing the situation, a reflection of your experience, and an analysis of the situation from a psychological perspective. Importantly, building on your analysis, describe an intervention, research project, or community activism that can be applied in this context to either help others understand the culture better or build the community. Below are aspects that will be the basis of the grading of the final paper: 1) Describe the community/environment you chose, why you chose it, and how you went about exploring it. 2) Identify the experiences/situations that you found most challenging or insightful. 3) Use one or more psychological concepts that can be to be related to your observation. 4) How can the knowledge of that concept (e.g., a psychological mechanism or theory) be helpful in the described context? Can you derive practical implications? Elaboration of how, using the psychological concept(s) you have identified, a problem can be solved, a community project can be improved, or a research program can be guided within the cultural context your exploration took place in or in a related context. Be specific! 5) Be sure to bring in outside literature to help support your analysis and theoretical perspective. Have at least four references. 6) Your paper should have a clear structure, including an introduction, and conclusion. 7) Your paper should be in 12pt Times New Roman Font with 1 margins. Double Space. 8) Use APA-style. -

The following reading is an excerpt from the opening chapter; answer the following questions: 1) What is the main hypothesis of Dr. Rogoff? (10 points) – Read it very closely; Dr. Rogoff highlights various points, yet she is very clear on one main hypothesis in a particular section of the reading. 2) What is one example given by Dr. Rogoff to support the hypothesis? (10 points) – The example must be related to the reading. 3) How does the hypothesis relate to ethnocentrism? (10 points) 4) How does Dr. Rogoffs hypothesis relate to sociocultural theory as discussed by Vygotsky? Use two definitions from our lecture to illustrate your point (20 points). 5) In your life, think of a time when you encountered ethnocentrism. What could you do to educate someone younger about ethnocentrism? (10 points) – Think about it and give me an honest answer; this last part is solely graded on effort.Attached Files (PDF/DOCX): Reading 2 – Barbara Rogoff (2003).pdf

Does This Establish Cause-and-Effect
1. Part 1 Use AI to create a study
You must copy exactly the prompt given by your professor and paste it into an AI tool (such as ChatGPT).
The AI will generate a short research study (150200 words) that includes:
- A clinical context (for example: ABA, speech therapy, counseling, or school psychology).
- Participants
- Procedure
- How the results will be measured
Important:
- The study must use a quasi-experimental or single-case design.
- It cannot include random assignment.
- It cannot be a true experiment.
- You must not edit the text. Copy and paste it exactly as the AI generated it into Blackboard.
2. Part 2 Analyze the design (this part must be done by you)
You must answer three questions, about two sentences each:
- What type of design is it?
- Single-case
- or quasi-experimental
- How do you know it is that type of design?
Explain briefly which characteristics of the study indicate that design. - Does the study establish cause-and-effect?
Explain whether it demonstrates causality and why.
You must not use AI for this part.
