  • Capstone Topic and Outline

    Topic selection

Begin thinking about the Topic of your Paper. Remember that your topic should be based on questions you would like to be answer within the field of psychology. Think about all you have learned so far in your program and what questions you may still have that you would like to investigate.

    Assignment

Write a minimum of 1-2 pages answering these questions. why you chose this topic? What is the importance in the field of psychology? What do you want to know about the topic? And how is it going to help you in your professional career?

Then in 1 page provide an APA content outline on what information you believe is most important about your topic. This outline is the basic organization of your paper.

  • Career Connections

This assignment has 2 parts. The 1st part is My discussion minimum of 500 words( 2 references)

    • State your future career and explain how that field may use statistical analysis. Explain the types of projects that might involve statistical analysis in your future career.
    • Summarize the articles content and point out any statistical procedures you recognize from this weeks reading. For this, consider answering the following questions:
    • What research question did the authors investigate?
    • What variables did they use?
    • Did the article include any graphs or charts?
    • If so, what types were they? Did they help you understand the information better? Why or why not?
    • How is this article helpful in your future career?

My future goals is to become a high school college counselor This is a discussion NOT a Paper so no need for a cover page. This is the second part to respond to my peer. In the reponse to the classmate you can ask 1 question. And not just respond to their post by saying it makes sense. Go into depth with it. Minimum of 250 words. This is what my classmate wrote. My future career is in psychology, in family advocacy in domestic violence. In this field, statistical analysis is used to measure the prevalence of abuse, assess the efficacy of interventions, and identify risk factors. Important applications include the use of longitudinal data to track the safety improvements, regression models are used for mental health impacts such as PTSD and anxiety, to mention a few. Text analysis is also implemented to understand victim-survivor experiences.

There are various ways that statistical analysis can be used in psychology. One way to assess the program’s effectiveness is by evaluating the success rates of different intervention programs designed for both victims and perpetrators of domestic violence. Having the ability to identify risk factors is another example of statistical analysis being used in psychology. This is used to identify common demographics or situational risk factors related to domestic violence. Another way statistical analysis is used in psychology is to measure the clients’ outcomes by tracking and quantifying improvements in clients’ well-being and safety. Although I only mentioned a few ways statistical analysis can be used, there are more ways to use statistical analysis in psychology.

In summary of the article, A qualitative data analysis: family victim advocates in child advocacy centers. The study analyzes the critical role of family victim advocates and child advocacy centers (CACs), which highlights the responsibility in bridging the gap between families and investigative systems. Their method of doing so involves a pragmatic qualitative research method, which, in this week’s reading of our textbook, Tanner, D (2016), chapters 1 and 2, discusses qualitative data while defining it as a type of variable rather than covering methods or in-depth qualitative analysis.

The authors of a qualitative data analysis, family victim advocates in child advocacy centers, investigate motion, perception, and the need for special education. In this week’s reading of statistics for behavioral and social sciences, chapters 1 and 2. Tanner, D (2016) investigates fundamental and foundational concepts as well as research methods and data description. The focus is on defining the variables and understanding data skills such as nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. Both implemented variables by utilizing motivation, perceptions, need for training, defining variables, and understanding data scales.

In the article on qualitative data analysis, family advocates and child advocacy centers, and in this week’s reading, charts or graphs were not used; however, in our textbook, chapters 1 and 2, the foundation of both graphs and charts was introduced to assist in the visualization. Because I am both hands-on and visual, the introduction of such charts, graphs, and bars is found to be helpful in my understanding. This helps me to put words and images together to see it. In the article I have chosen, it demonstrates the value of providing insight into motivations, training needs, and supports a trauma-informed approach.

  • Discussion Post

While reading, keep a list of the suggestions the articles provide for keeping a healthy, happy, and “youthful” mind. Out of the several on the list, choose the top 2 that you believe would be the best to implement. Write enough (a paragraph or two) to convince someone (e.g., pretend that you’re trying to convince someone that you care about) to implement these changes as soon as possible. Include why you think the task is a good choice (e.g., is it the most effective or just easy?), why they should do it at all (e.g., why they should care about the health of their mind), and how they might implement it in their routine (e.g., it should not be a one off task but something they do regularly).

Your post must answer the prompt and also include:

    1. A direct quote from at least one of the articles, cited properly in APA, that emphasizes why that task is important. This should not be a definition. It should be added as support of your argument. For example, you could say: “In the article [name of article], [authors] suggest that older adults [do this activity] because [direct quote explaining that people who do it are better off].

    2. A citation from the textbook that supports your argument. This can be a definition, argument, impact etc. For example, you could say something like: The article suggests [this activity] for [this affect]. The textbook also emphasies the importance of [the thing] by explaining that individuals who lose [the thing] can experience an increased risk for depression or anxiety (page number).
