SELF OF THE THERAPIST ASSIGNMENT (C)

You will be provided a different prompt each term that relates to a self-of-the-therapist issue. This paper should be a minimum of 1-3 pages and is meant to be a personal reflection of your thoughts and feelings on the given topic. Use the prompt below to complete this writing assignment. As a therapist, you will establish close and intimate relationships with your clients. You may find that you share similar thoughts, ideas, perspectives, fears, issues, concerns, dreams, aspirations, beliefs, etc. You may also find that you share similar dilemmas, have had similar experiences, and/or have faced a similar challenge or adversity. For this assignment, select one of your current clients and discuss the following…in what ways are you connected to your client? In what ways do you connect to your clients? What similarities do you share? What experiences have you had in life that connects you to your client? What makes you and your client the same? What do you see in your client that you recognize inside of yourself?

What to discuss:

The client I chose, which is the same client I chose to do my presentation on is a 16 year old female who struggles with communication with her father due to differences in upbringing. Father who was born and raised in Iran and my client who was born in the states did not understand each other’s perspectives in many things such as communication, respect of boundaries, seriousness of bullying at school, etc. I felt connected to this client because I also struggled with communication with parents and often did not take things I shared with seriousness, if I was even allowed to share. Similar to my client, when sharing thoughts or emotions, it often seemed as if it was talking back rather than a productive conversation.

Description of criterion

Student must apply the concepts of utilizing pharmacolgy in Mental Health and collect the data from the ATI E-book or other evidence based resource and put the information in the spider concept map. There are many theories related to attention regulation. In this assignment, you will prepare and present some of the current attention and consciousness theories while examining neural network connections and the effectiveness of treatment.

In 15-20 slides, address these prompts:

Let’s dive into the early days of psychology. Think about Wilhelm Wundt and William James. How did each of them contribute to shaping the field? Wundt is often called the father of experimental psychology, and James is known for his functionalist approach. Use your textbook to detail their major theories and methods, but explain it in your own words. Also, share a personal example of how learning about their work has influenced your understanding of psychological principles.

Freuds concept of the unconscious mind is fascinating, isn’t it? He believed that much of our behavior is influenced by unconscious processes. Using your textbook, explain what Freud meant by the unconscious mind. Summarize the main points in your own words and reflect on a time in your life when you felt the unconscious mind might have been at play.

The Replication Crisis in psychology is a hot topic these days. It refers to the difficulty in replicating many psychological studies. What does it mean, and why is it important?
