    Use this

Using the OpenStax Psychology 2e textbook as your only resource, write an essay about each of these topics. Your responses must summarize the content in your own words and include personal applications or reflections to demonstrate your understanding and originality. Responses that are not original or that copy text directly from the textbook will receive zero points. Identify the specific section references (e.g., “Chapter 1, section 1.2”) to support your answers.

    Question 1

Let’s dive into the early days of psychology. Think about Wilhelm Wundt and William James. How did each of them contribute to shaping the field? Wundt is often called the father of experimental psychology, and James is known for his functionalist approach. Use your textbook to detail their major theories and methods, but explain it in your own words. Also, share a personal example of how learning about their work has influenced your understanding of psychological principles.

    Question 2:

Freuds concept of the unconscious mind is fascinating, isn’t it? He believed that much of our behavior is influenced by unconscious processes. Using your textbook, explain what Freud meant by the unconscious mind. Summarize the main points in your own words and reflect on a time in your life when you felt the unconscious mind might have been at play.

    Bonus Question

The Replication Crisis in psychology is a hot topic these days. It refers to the difficulty in replicating many psychological studies. What does it mean, and why is it important? Explain this using your textbook, but put it into your own words. Think of an example where this crisis might make you question the trustworthiness of a psychological study. (Chapter 2)

each question is there seperate question with an essay that needs to be written.

Instructions: Answer all questions using systems thinking, incorporating shared lived experiences and analogies. Define new terminology where applicable. Provide real-world or personal analogies to illustrate your understanding.

Section 1: Central Nervous System Structures (30 points)

Objective: Use new terminology to explain major structures in the central nervous system through analogy and shared experiences.

    1. Neural Network City: Imagine the central nervous system as a city. Identify at least three major structures (e.g., cerebrum, cerebellum, brainstem) and describe their function using city components. (e.g., The brainstem is like the transportation hub that regulates traffic flow.) (10 points)
    2. Personal Experience Connection: Describe a time when you experienced heightened sensory input, motor coordination, or memory recall. Explain which CNS structures were involved and how they worked together using proper terminology. (10 points)
    3. Analogy Creation: The spinal cord is to the brain as _______ is to _______. Explain your analogy in detail. (10 points)

Section 2: Organization of Cortex (35 points)

Objective: Discuss the importance of cortical organization using systems thinking and real-world analogies.

    1. Cortical Hierarchy & Experience: The cortex has different specialized areas (e.g., sensory, motor, association). Compare this to an experience in school, work, or a community setting where organization and specialization were essential. (10 points)
    2. Functional Organization Challenge: Imagine a malfunction in cortical organization (e.g., damage to the motor cortex or sensory misprocessing). Describe how this would affect daily life using an analogy (e.g., Its like a factory where workers lose their roles). (15 points)
    3. Plasticity and Adaptation: Neuroplasticity allows the brain to adapt to damage or learning experiences. Share an example from your own life or historical examples where adaptation led to success. Relate this to cortical reorganization. (10 points)

    Section 3: Neurodevelopment (35 points)

Objective: Explain key stages of neurodevelopment using lived experiences and systems thinking.

    1. Developmental Timeline: The stages of neurodevelopment (neurogenesis, migration, differentiation, synaptogenesis, pruning, myelination) are like growing up. Compare each stage to a life experience, childhood development, or community-building process. (15 points)
    2. Critical Periods: Describe a time in your life when you learned something critical (e.g., language, music, sports). How does this relate to the concept of sensitive periods in neurodevelopment? (10 points)
    3. Group Process Analogy: Imagine a group project or team forming over time. How does this resemble neurodevelopment from embryo to adulthood? (10 points)

    Bonus Question (5 points):

Describe a situation where your brain had to quickly adapt to unexpected stimuli (e.g., catching a falling object, reacting to an emergency). Identify which brain structures were involved and explain their roles using a sports or survival analogy.

  • Psychology Question

As we age, our sensory abilities change in predictable ways. Unfortunately, during our geriatric years, much of the change in sensation is associated with a decrement or loss in ability. With old age, our senses become less acute, and we have trouble discriminating between subtle differences and sensing details. For example, our sense of smell decreases, and this partially contributes to the loss of taste.

    Answer the following questions:

    • What is the normal range of human hearing, and how does this range change with age? Why is it that younger people can hear high-pitched ringtones but older people cannot? How is this used to the advantage of younger people (e.g., when choosing cell phone ringtones)?
    • What happens to the human eye as a person gets older? Consider what happens to the ability to perceive images at different distances when the lens becomes more rigid. How might a person with myopia benefit from changes with time?
    • How do the changes in smell and taste interact? Discuss the different types of taste. Are there any specific tastes that are relatively preserved with age? Do food preferences change with one’s ability to taste different things? How does this impact food choice? This should be written in APA format, include in-text citation and references. Disorders and Treatment

Each disorder or injury on the topic list in Week 1 Assignment 3 involves some process of brain damage or chemical alteration. When a person is diagnosed with such a disorder, the focus is to find an effective treatment. The ideal treatment for a disorder or injury would involve a medicine that would stop or reverse the process that is causing damage or reset the chemical imbalance. In some cases, that is possible, such as when a person who has epilepsy is given a drug that stops the seizures. In other cases, such as with Alzheimer’s disease, the drug treatment involves symptom management because there is no effective way of slowing the brain damage that is occurring.

    Assignment Specifics

Your goal for this assignment will be to research and find at least one medicine that is used for treatment or symptom management for your selected disorder or injury. Regardless of whether your treatment is a cure or a method of symptom management, you need to determine how the medicine works. Note that you do not need to be able to describe the specific mechanisms; however, you should be able to state the process in simplistic terms. For example, you might find that the medication does not alter the process of cell damage; however, it enables the neurotransmitters in the cells that remain to be used more effectively. After establishing how the treatment works, determine how effective the treatment is and how long the treatment will last. Will the person have to take the medicine for the rest of his or her life, or is it given during a brief time period? In some cases, the timing of medication application must be considered, for example, a clot-dissolving drug given in the early stages of clot formation in an ischemic stroke is more effective and leads to a better prognosis than when the drug is given later in the process.

This should be written on AUTISM DISORDER in APA format. Include in-text citation and references. You can use an outside source, but also use my textbook source, which is Kalat, J.W. (2023). Biological Psychology (14th ed). This should be double-spaced and 3 pages.

You are required to explain what the disinhibition effect is, give brief examples and reflect on how it may impact you as the trainee therapist
  • Philosophy of science 1

How does the lens from which you view the world shape your approach to research inquiry? Why is it important as a scholar-practitioner engaged in research to acknowledge your worldview? The Learning Resources in this first week will help you answer these questions, and they will provide you with a foundation in the philosophy of science that will help you appreciate various research designs and methods. With this foundation, you will be encouraged to reflect on how your assumptions about the acquisition of truth and the nature of the world influence your approach to the research process. For this Discussion, you will identify an area. of interest for a possible research topic. As you read about the different philosophical orientations in this weeks readings, consider if one of these orientations most closely aligns with your worldview and a particular approach to research. Post a brief description of your topic of research interest. Next, state the philosophical orientation that reflects your worldview and explain the epistemological and ontological assumptions of this orientation. Then, explain how these assumptions lend themselves to one or more research approaches.
