    Instructions:

Students must create one (1) original thread and two (2) replies to the instructors and/or other students discussion threads. The content of both the original post and the replies will reflect the students informed opinion, analysis, or observation regarding the prompt/topic. Elaborate as much as possible, and using your own words, refer to specific content in the textbook chapters to support your ideas. Do not quote directly from the textbook; paraphrase and cite your source.

Refer back to the chapters using in-text citations that include the textbook authors last name and year of publication, in addition to page numbers when appropriate, and use correct APA style (7th edition) formatting for those in-text citations. After your response, include the full reference for each chapter that you cite, using correct APA style formatting. Remember to use proper grammar, syntax, and punctuation in all posts, and remember to be respectful and considerate in all your posts.

For Discussion Forum 1, please choose ONE (1) of the following prompts:

Chapter 1: What Do Social Psychologists Do?

Most students in a social psychology class will not go on to become social psychologists. Visit the Social Psychology Network website and read the information on what social psychologists do: . What problems or issues does the site say social psychologists focus on, the method social psychologists use, or the training required to become a social psychologist?

    Chapter 2: Culture

The textbook suggests that one of the things that makes humans different is culture, we are cultural animals. Primate lovers may disagree with this statement. For this assignment visit a website that discusses animal culture. The website can be found at: . After reading the material and the textbook description of culture, provide your opinion of whether humans are the only animals that have more than the rudiments of culture. You must state your opinion and provide at least two arguments to support that opinion.

    Chapter 3: Define Yourself

Define Yourself. Write a paragraph or two telling us who you are.

You may point out the following:

    • What part of the self-did you write about (self-knowledge, interpersonal self, executive function)?
    • Did you describe how you came upon this knowledge of yourself? If so point out which of the textbooks ways of knowing about the self this fits under. If not, consider now where this self-knowledge comes from and relate it to the material from the text.
    • Did you mention your self-changing? If so, what seemed to promote that growth?
    • What do you notice in your self-description that might be based on an illusion?
    • Did you engage in any self-presentation tactics?

Once you have posted your response, reply to 2 classmates discussion board posts to earn credit.

  • How is cortisol secretion important for healthy function and…

How is cortisol secretion important for healthy function and in what way(s) can individuals regulate their own cortisol circadian rhythms?

Please write a 2,500 word essay at a Masters and above level on the topic of “How is cortisol secretion important for healthy function and in what way(s) can individuals regulate their own cortisol circadian rhythms?”, that critically evaluates the evidence for the role of cortisol secretion in healthy psychological and physiological functioning, and the ways in which individuals may regulate their own cortisol circadian rhythms. This will be followed by a brief reflective paragraph (250 words) NOT included in the essay’s 2,500 word count, addressing ONE of the following:

    • How engaging with the research literature changed or complicated your understanding of cortisol secretion or regulation compared with how it was presented in lectures.

    OR

    • A methodological or conceptual issue that most influenced how you interpreted the evidence, and why.

I have already written out an essay plan for you to follow, so please follow but improve upon this essay plan where you see fit.

    Some extra tips:

    • Please think and write critically- this is essential for this essay. If you make a statement, what is the opposite of that statement? Based on what is the statement correct?
    • Be able to synthesise knowledge from more than one source.
    • If you were going to write, for example, “___ is the leading killer in the UK”. Well, who is the most affected? Based on what?
    • Think about to what extent is this relevant? To what extent are the studies you’re referencing relevant?

  • Where in the World Is Evidence-Based Practice?

March 21, 2010, was not EBPs date of birth, but it may be the date the approach grew up and left home to take on the world.

When the Affordable Care Act was passed, it came with a requirement of empirical evidence. Research on EBP increased significantly. Application of EBP spread to allied health professions, education, healthcare technology, and more. Health organizations began to adopt and promote EBP.

In this Discussion, you will consider this adoption. You will examine healthcare organization websites and analyze to what extent these organizations use EBP.

  • Research assignments#3

Research Assignment 3#: Expanded Significant Statement This assignment blends the first two assignments. You will write another significant statement, following the guidelines of the first significant statement, only this time you will be working with two sources: 1) an article from your annotated bibliography, and 2) a short passage from the course reading assignment you based your annotated bibliography on. What youre going to do with this assignment is start with an important passage from one of your critical articles, a passage thats about 4-6 lines long, break it down and analyze it using that P.I.E. [Point Illustration Example] formula. Remember: keep the focus on what the passage has to say about jealousy and/or envy. After that you will extend your analysis of the quote to show its relevance to a specific moment in the specific course reading. Heres an illustration to give you a visual of what the assignment should do… [SEE THE .PDF HANDOUT IN MODULES FOR THE FULL ILLUSTRATION] Ive also included a page from They Say/I Say that offers some tips on how to work with quotes and integrate them into your writing. Annotated Bibliography (Using ChatGPT)

NOTE: Prior to completing this assignment make sure you have read the three assigned readings related to AI (i.e., Fulgu & Capraro, 2024; Jenka, 2023; Verma & Oremus, 2023).

In this assignment youll be utilizing the CSUDH library database as well as ChatGPT. The purpose is to demonstrate how both can be valuable tools when looking for peer-reviewed research.

The first step is to find a journal article from the library database. As explained in class I recommend starting with PsychInfo. Google Scholar can also be useful, but it may be more difficult for an initial search as Google Scholar is obviously not limited to just research in psychology. The article found for this assignment must be directly relevant to your teams factorial design.

The second step is to upload the article into ChatGPT and ask ChatGPT to summarize the main points of the article. Depending on how long the article is the summary ChatGPT provides may be long. For this assignment I request that the summary be one page in length (double space, 1-inch margins, appropriate font type and size).

For step three, read the article and write your own summary. The summary should also be one page in length (double space, 1-inch margins, appropriate font type and size). Your summary should mention any key research or theory that inspired the study, key details from the methodology (i.e., who were the participants [if any], what measurement tool[s] were used, what were the participants asked to do [if no participants then explain what the researchers did]), what were the findings, and what were the key takeaways/analysis.

Next you need to write a reflection paper in which you address the quality of ChatGPTs summary compared to your own. Your reflection paper should include commentary on if it included all key details, did it make any hallucinations, did it show bias, did it make any redundancies, etc.? The reflection paper needs to be a minimum of one page in length.

Finally, create a properly formatted references page where you list both your article and ChatGPT.

The grading rubric is as follows:

Proper formatting (i.e., double spacing, 1-inch margin, appropriate font) = 1 point

1-page summary of the article from ChatGPT was included = 1 point

Students original summary (introduction, methods, results, and discussion section) = 8 points

    Reflection paper = 5 points

    References page = 5 points
