    Case Summary

Elite Manufacturing (fictional) is a midsized textile manufacturing company. The company has

been successful over the past forty years in producing high-end sports clothing for sporting

goods stores and athletic teams. Part of the success for Elite Manufacturing has been a team that

keeps the company up to date with the latest technology.

The executive leadership at Elite has decided to launch a new line of casual wear but wants this

part of the manufacturing plant to be automated. The technology teamled by managers

Giovanny Miele and Sarah Lunsfordhas been tasked with researching the best solutions for

this endeavor. Each team member has been given a different area to research and report back to

    the group.

Your area of responsibility is identifying the vision system and components needed for the

production line. This new endeavor will ultimately move Elite from a midsized company to a

large company. Your task is to find solutions that will manage the capture of images that have

proven to be successful with automation. Your team is counting on you to have a viable solution

to work with their area, such as software and infrastructure (cameras), but not the hardware

(robots). The executive leadership at Elite is looking at the technology team to lead them into the

future with the successful launch of a new manufacturing venture.

    Review Questions

    1. What advantages might be gained from moving to an AI system, such as a vision system,

for a production line in place of a person-driven production line?

    2. Can you think of any possible disadvantages to this approach?

    3. What software platforms, or vendors, would be recommended for this type of

    environment and why?

    Critical Thinking Questions

    1. What additional questions need to be answered before you can decide if the database as a

service approach is right for your firm?

    2. How might such a move affect you and your role?

  • State Legislatures and the Judiciary

n politics, the relationship is one of the most determining factors in getting stuff done. Although the primary responsibility for most legislators is to create law, they also have several other duties to their constituents. For this Discussion, interact in a free-flowing discussion on the responsibilities of a state legislator. In other words, describe, as much as possible, what else a state legislator might find in his or her job description. You must describe the legislators relationship with the executive branch, the bureaucracy, and evaluative responsibilities of the state legislator. You must also address constituent service, identification of state priorities, and what, if any roles legislators may have with federal funds.

  • Draw supply and demand graphs to illustrate a scenario

    First, read the explanation above.

In 2021, the federal government adopted legislation to invest in the production of electric buses for schools. The idea was “helping school districts across the country buy clean, American-made, zero emission buses, and replace the yellow school bus fleet for Americas children. The legislation also invests $5 billion in zero emission and clean buses and $2.5 billion for ferries. These investments will drive demand for American-made batteries and vehicles.” Assume that this investment will stay in place.

    • Draw a market for American made batteries in the U.S. Time one is the market before this legislation was adopted. On the same image, add new curves for what happens in the battery market after federal funds are spent on clean buses and label them.

    SUBMIT:

    • Scan or take photos of the drawings and attach them.
    • Writing:
    • Explain with one-two sentences why you drew what you did (refer to the relevant nonprice determinant of either supply or demand as appropriate for the example). Please keep the following in mind: A supply and demand graph will represent just one market. Talk about what you would expect to happen to the two “market outcomes” in the supply and demand model based on the change mentioned.
  • Research Paper Topic

You are asked to start thinking about their research topic as early as possible. It will save you time to complete your final paper!

The proposal does not need to be long, but it can be a short paragraph. Students will need to provide a title of the paper, a research question, and a brief research description. (I was thinking a topic related to Human Resources that would be a good topic to research)

(If necessary, your topic for the final paper might be different from this assignment. As the semester goes by, you might want to change your topic.)

Narrative form is preferred, times new roman 12 pt. 1-2 paragraphs, double-spaced.

  • discussion post

In reviewing this module’s question, incorporate your understanding of economic development. Also consider any experiences and what you have observed in your community. Select an economic development project in your community.

The project must have been implemented and/or completed within the past 10 years. Provide background about the project and the intended economic benefits. In presenting your overview of the project, compare the project’s development process to the economic planning challenges outlined in Leigh and Blakely’s text, Chapters 1 -4. To what degree did the community economic development project experience the transition in local planning?

Also, based upon your understanding of Chapters 1 – 2 of the McDonald text, outline the causal theory that undergirds your jurisdictions development project. What has been identified as enhancing prospects for community sustainability? Describe in detail the configuration of public, private, and not-for-profit sector linkages that proved instrumental in making your communitys project a reality
