Part I:

In this discussion, we will discuss the factors that contribute to the rise in obesity in America, and discuss treatment options for overweight and obesity.

First, lets start with questions based on what we have learned so far in past modules. Remember, you do not need to complete your readings for this week to engage with this first question.

• Many factors can influence a persons weight, including psychological, emotional, physiological, social, economic, and cultural factors. In your opinion, what do you think is the most important thing that influences a persons ability to maintain a healthy weight? How so?

As you discuss this, keep in mind that every person is unique and has a unique set of circumstances and lived experiences. You can base your opinion on past experiences with weight gain or loss; observations you have made within your family, circle of friends, or community; or some other factor. Please share the basis of your opinion.

Now applying what youve learned from the readings and videos, lets go through the rest of the discussion together, one question at a time.

• Based on all of our observations in the opinion based question and our readings, what approach do you think health providers should take to promote people achieving and maintaining a healthier weight in our country?
• Based on the information you have learned from the readings, what do you think is the most effective treatment option in treating obesity? What are the advantages and limitations of this treatment? What else needs to be a part of an intervention plan to ensure long term success and overall health?
• What barriers exist in our society to stemming the rise in obesity? Be sure to consider cultural and economic factors in your discussion.

Addiction is not only a personal issue. Addiction has profound effects on those with whom the addict comes into contact, particularly family members. In this discussion, you will explore how the individual addict affects a familys members and how they in turn affect the addict and his/her behavior.

• How has addiction affected the family members of the addict? In what ways has/might any of their behavior(s) or thinking about their addicted relative change(d)?

Evaluation Criteria

In a journal entry of 250-300 words, research and analyze the negotiation style of a country different from your own. Explain the key differences in approach and describe how you would prepare for a negotiation with a business partner from that country.

Part 1: Research and Analysis

• Choose a country: Select a country that has a negotiation style you believe is significantly different from your own. Briefly describe your country’s typical negotiation style for context.
• Identify key differences: Based on your research, identify at least three key differences in the negotiation approach of the country you chose. Consider factors such as:
• Communication style: Is it direct or indirect?
• Relationship building: Is it task-oriented or relationship-oriented?
• Decision-making: Is the process fast and individual or slow and consensus-driven?
• Time perception: Do they view time as linear (monochronic) or flexible (polychronic)?

Part 2: Strategic Preparation

• Outline your preparation: Based on the differences you identified, detail the specific steps you would take to prepare for a negotiation with a business partner from that country.
• Adapt your strategy: Explain how you would adapt your communication style, meeting etiquette, and overall negotiation strategy to align with their cultural norms. For example, if you are a direct communicator, how would you modify your approach to be more effective in an indirect communication culture?
• Justify your choices: Briefly explain why your adaptations are crucial for a successful outcome. How do these changes show respect and increase the likelihood of a “win-win” scenario?

Reflect on your experiences with literacy/numeracy issues in healthcare settings. Explain any personal examples you have seen where poor literacy and numeracy skills prevented attainment of good health. What recommendations would you make to improve communication where literacy and numeracy limitations are evident?

Research Question: How do sexual behaviors, partner concurrency, and prevention practices among African American men who have sex with men (MSM) influence HIV transmission patterns and subsequent risk to female partners?

Instructions

1. Literature Exploration: Start by exploring a wide range of literature related to your topic. Utilize academic databases, journals, and credible online sources to gather a diverse array of materials. Use the attached template to help you organize your readings and use a new row for every article.
2. Reading and Analysis: Read the collected literature thoroughly. Pay close attention to study designs, methodologies, findings, and discussions. Be critical in your analysis, noting strengths, weaknesses and any biases in the research.
3. .Summarization: Summarize each piece of literature(should be a total of 6 each), Focus on key points relevant to your topic and potential research question. Keep track of recurring themes, significant findings and differing viewpoints.
4. Identification of Gaps and Trends: As you summarize, identify any gaps in the research, emerging trends and areas of contention or debate. These insights are crucial in understanding how your research could contribute.
5. Refinement of Your Research Question: Use the insights gained from your literature review to refine your research question. Ensure that it addresses a specific gap or emerging area of interest in the field.
6. Documentation: Compile your summaries, analyses and findings into a coherent document. This should reflect not only your understanding of the literature but also how it informs and shapes your proposed research question.
7. Reflection and Revision: Reflect on the process, and revise your document for clarity, coherence and alignment with your research objectives. Ensure that your literature review logically supports the formulation and necessity of your research question.

Requirements

• Your assignment should be no more than 3000 words in length (250500 words per reference).
• Your assignment should be double-spaced with 1-inch margins all around and 12-point Times New Roman font.
• Include at least 6 citations. Put them all on one word document and separate them with headings/labels.
