Scholarship help
I need help with my personal essay / personal statement for scholarships I’m looking to win. I had help creating a first “throw up” draft where i basically threw up all the informastion about myself pertaining me and this depree. I ask you to help by making me the personal statement and use the details in the messy draft to create a beautifully eloquently spoken scholarship winning personal statement essay.
Personal Statement Draft
Growing up, I was surrounded by families of accountantsmany of my friends parents worked in the field. I noticed the way they lived: organized, stable, and able to provide for their families with confidence. Their careers gave them a sense of control over their lives, and that stood out to me. At a young age, I understood that their stability was not accidental; it was built through education, discipline, and consistency. I did not come from the same financial background, but being around that environment showed me what was possible. It gave me a clear example of the kind of life I wanted to build for myself, and it is what ultimately led me to pursue a degree in accounting.
I am currently a junior at Florida International University, majoring in Accounting, with an expected graduation date of December 2026. I have maintained a 3.24 GPA and earned Deans List honors in Fall 2022 and Summer 2025. These accomplishments are meaningful to me because they reflect my ability to stay consistent despite the demands I face outside the classroom. Some of the courses that have shaped my academic experience include Business Law, Financial Management, Taxation, Advanced Accounting, and Entrepreneurship. These are not easy courses, but they have confirmed that I am in the right field. I enjoy working through complex problems, understanding systems, and applying logic in a structured way. Accounting aligns with how I naturally thinkorganized, detail-oriented, and focused on accuracy.
Beyond academics, what draws me to accounting is its versatility. It is a field that opens doors across multiple industries, from public accounting and corporate finance to entrepreneurship and government. I value having options and the ability to adapt my career over time. My goal is not only to succeed in one role, but to build a strong foundation that allows me to grow, pivot, and take on new challenges throughout my life.
I have been working since I was seventeen years old, and I currently work full-time as a server and bartender in Fort Lauderdale. Working in hospitality has taught me more than just how to earn a paycheck. Each shift requires me to manage money accurately, communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. I have learned how to handle pressure, solve problems quickly, and maintain a high level of service even during stressful situations. These experiences have directly translated into skills that are valuable in accountingattention to detail, accountability, time management, and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities at once.
Since the age of nineteen, I have been fully financially independent. I am responsible for my own rent, bills, education, and daily expenses. In 2023, my parents went through a difficult divorce, which removed any remaining financial support I had. That period of my life was one of the most challenging I have faced. At the same time, I also lost a close friendship that had been an important part of my support system. Balancing emotional stress, financial pressure, full-time work, and a full academic schedule was overwhelming, and my grades were impacted during that time.
However, I did not allow that period to define me. I took responsibility, refocused, and worked to rebuild my discipline. I learned how to manage my time more effectively, prioritize what truly matters, and stay committed to my goals even when circumstances are difficult. That experience taught me resilience in a way that no classroom ever could. It showed me that I am capable of adapting, recovering, and continuing forward without giving up. I do not rely on ideal conditions to succeedI have learned how to create stability even when it is not given to me.
Looking ahead, I have clear and specific goals. After completing my bachelors degree, I plan to pursue a masters degree in accounting and sit for the CPA exam. I am actively working toward gaining practical experience in the field, and my current employer has expressed interest in bringing me into their accounting department as an intern. This opportunity would allow me to transition from hospitality into a professional accounting role and begin applying what I have learned in a real-world setting. I am eager to take that step and continue developing both my technical knowledge and professional skills.
In the long term, I want to build a career where I can make a meaningful impact. I am particularly interested in helping individuals, small businesses, and families manage their finances more effectively. Financial literacy and stability are not equally accessible to everyone, and I want to be someone who helps bridge that gap. I want my work to be something people can rely on, especially when it comes to important decisions about their financial future.
My motivation is also deeply personal. I want to create a stable and secure life for myself and for the people I care about. I want to be able to support my mother and give back to her for everything she has done for me. In the future, I want to raise my own children in an environment where they feel secure and have the freedom to pursue their goals without financial limitations. Everything I am working toward is part of building that lifeone that reflects both independence and stability.
This scholarship would have a direct and meaningful impact on my ability to continue my education. Balancing full-time work with a demanding academic schedule requires constant trade-offs. There are times when I have to prioritize work over studying simply because I need to meet my financial obligations. Receiving financial support would allow me to reduce my work hours and dedicate more time to my coursework, internship opportunities, and preparation for the CPA exam. It would give me the ability to focus more fully on becoming the strongest candidate I can be in my field.
I am not looking for an easier path. I understand that success requires effort, discipline, and sacrifice, and I have already demonstrated my willingness to put in that work. What I am seeking is the opportunity to make that path more sustainable so I can perform at my highest level.
I have a clear vision for my future, a strong work ethic, and real experience overcoming challenges without relying on external support. This scholarship would be an investment in someone who is committed to building a stable, successful life through persistence, responsibility, and determination.
