    HSD 110- Comprehensive Health Education

Community Health project guidelines (Total worth 20% of grade, 5% each section)

    Outline Due: Week 8

    AI comparison due: Week 11

    Presentation Due: Week 12

    Final Paper due: Week 13

    Paper

Go to the NYC Department of Health Community Health site here https://a816-health.nyc.gov/hdi/profiles/. Find your

neighborhood-specific report on the map, by name or by entering your address. Then click where it says Who we are.

This will load an interactive report about your neighborhood. Navigate with the links at the top labeled things like Social

& Economic Conditions, Healthy Living, and all the others. Once you click one of those, you will see a new menu at the

top. Please click yes on the Show Most Favorable Community – this will help to compare your neighborhood with the one

that is doing the best in that category.

Write a 2-4 page paper describing the health of your neighborhoods conditions and health issues, using data from the

report to back up your statements. Select 1 or 2 of the most important issues facing the people living in your area. Include

any actions that people or organizations can take to help combat the negative determinants of health facing your

neighbors, and community resources that are already available that can help.

Please first write an outline answering the below questions. Outline due Week 8

    1. Describe your neighborhood and social/economic conditions.

    2. What are the health issues in your neighborhood? Which problem areas do you think are the most important?

    3. What are some solutions that might address some of these negative health issues specifically in your

neighborhood? Think specifically about community-level solutions, not personal health solutions or behaviors.

    4. What community or neighborhood resources might be useful in making your neighborhood healthier? You can

find this by looking online, finding a community health center or program and talking to them, or walking around

the neighborhood to see what is available (examples include STI clinics, parks, gyms, farmers markets etc.).

Considering the growth of AI tools and technology in the last couple of years, we will test out one AI tool of your choice

to write a second outline for your paper. Please use the prompt above and the name of your neighborhood and ask the AI

language model (ChatGPT, Gemini, or any other) to complete the outline. Then, compare what you wrote with what the

AI tool gave you and answer the following questions with your opinion:

    1. Which outline contains more accurate data?

    2. Which outline has better grammar and vocabulary?

    3. Did you find any inaccuracies? If so, what are they?

    4. Which outline was more specific?

    5. What are the benefits of using AI for outlining and what are the drawbacks?

Submit the result of your AI outline and your analysis of it. AI outline comparison due Week 11

I will give you feedback on your outline and the AI comparison, and then you can turn in a draft of the full paper. Paper
