    Short Paper Assignment Instructions

    Overview

You will be required to compose short ethical analysis papers. Each paper involves research into the history of an idea, but these are not history research papers. Most of the sources for these papers are in the course readings. However, you may (and are encouraged) to support your assessments by research outside of the course readings you deem helpful to understanding ethical theories.

I uploaded the books that we are reading and the 4 references need to come from. Additionally, there needs to be 3 Biblical quotes and please use APA with citations and list all 7 resources at the end please.

  • Fieldwork – TO

    THIS WEEKS LEARNINGS:

Module 2 Overview_ Fieldwork and Ethnography_ SCC Sp26 ANTH 310 LEC 16970 Argent PDF ATTACHED

    PART 1:

    Discussion Topic

In this discussion we are going to explore some of the concepts we’ve learned by analyzing a piece of ethnographic research. In your assigned article, “Deep Play: Notes on a Balinese Cockfight,” Clifford Geertz argues that we should analyze the cockfight as a text through which people create meaning about themselves and their worlds.

    Instructions

    (75-100 WORDS)

Choose one quote from the article and discuss:

    1. How the quotation reveals the “deep play” of the Balinese cockfight? and
    2. Why is deciphering meaning from cultural practices important to anthropological research and analysis?

Make sure to discuss the article in an analytical and substantive manner! (This discussion is not a “personal reflection” like in Module 1. DO NOT simply write your personal opinion.)

ONCE PART 1 IS COMPLETE, I WILL ADD CLASSMATES POST THAT YOU CAN RESPOND TO.

    Discussion: Is segregation a problem?

    Instructions

Please be sure to add citations to our class readings and/or presentations to support your post.

    Discussion prompt:

This week’s presentation talks about the problems of concentrated poverty and neighborhood effects, and the Excluded chapters you read this week discusses problems that arise when people are shut out of affluent neighborhoods. Many people, however, feel very attached to their neighborhoods and value the connections they make in their communities, even if those communities may not look great to outsiders. If you were a policymaker in a city with neighborhoods of racial and/or income segregation, would you suggest policies that give people the opportunity to move out of those neighborhoods to reap the benefits of greater integration? Or would you push for greater investment in such neighborhoods so that residents could stay there but enjoy better services and amenities? Be sure to cite our class readings and/or presentation in your post.

I WILL ATTACH THE READING, PRESENTATIONS, ECT
