  • SPMT502 Transgender sports

    Instructions

This assignment is a preview of some of the topics you will discuss in next week’s lesson that includes legal issues in sports. Policies related to transgender athletes are currently one of the most discussed and controversial issues in all of sports. The development of policies for athlete participation is an important issue for several reasons. In addition to legal application, policy development in this area has practical application in the form of sensitivity, fairness, continued growth in women’s athletics, and for access to sport for all people (; West-Sell, Van Ness, & Ciccolella, 2019).

From a legal perspective, the primary issue seems to be the definition of the word “sex” (; West-Sell, Van Ness, & Ciccolella, 2019). Title IX uses the language “on the basis of sex” in its landmark legislation in 1972. The Supreme Court recently held heated discussions on whether gender identification or sexual orientation should be included under the umbrella of the existing language ().

Policy makers at all levels of sport have begun to examine the complex questions associated with participation for all people. Consider the following:

    1. The long term impacts of trans-inclusive and trans-exclusive policies?
    2. How inclusive policies relate to Title IX?
    3. How state-wide policy changes may impact private or schools with a religious affiliation?
    4. How can sport managers seek to ensure equitable opportunity and competition for all people?

    Directions: Week 6 Assignment:

Please review the resources provided in this assignment, as well as any other resources you locate through your own research. Then, in a 3-4 page essay (minimum of 750 words, excluding title and reference pages), please share your position on transgender participation policies in sports, as well as how you think this complex issue will play out over the next several months. Try to place yourself in the position of athletes (both transgender and cisgender), sports administrators, parents, and fans, in order to consider all stakeholders in your analysis. And, be sure to consider State level, Federal, and International perspectives as they are regularly changing in accordance with new legislative decisions and court cases. Be sure to carefully proof your work, and follow APA format throughout. Please include a title page that identifies your name and the assignment topic, as well as a reference page at the end of your essay which includes a minimum of five (5) scholarly sources. At least three (3) references should be original, which are not the sources identified in this assignment’s instructions. Don’t forget that every source should be correctly cited in the text throughout your essay.

  • Regional security cooperation in an Asian nation

See attached for instructions. I wanted to include some feedback from my previous paper in which my professor mentioned certain aspects of citations and quotations that knocked down points off my grade. His comments were: “There were some concerns noted. For example, if you rely to the Turnitin originality report, you will note that some of your text has similarities to sources highlighted. In this case, you should have used quotation marks and/or citations to identify these items to avoid the appearance of plagiarism. Try to avoid this in the future.” Please use Turabian, author-date in text (no footnotes or annotated bib). Full citation list at the end. 8 pages minimum double space DO NOT include reference and title page.
