  • Boredom is a Luxury

Please look at the following attatchments.

    This is my working thesis:

Beyond it being a byproduct of technological progress, the elimination of boredom in our society today has become an overlooked social issue rooted in productivity-driven values and the need for constant stimulation. Boredom was once unavoidable for earlier generations; it was part of daily life. But the generational shift in how boredom is understood today in contemporary culture is something our generation must acknowledge. Rather than viewing it as a negative state, its necessary for emotional processing and connection.

I already wrote 1.5 pages of the essay but it’s still being detected as being AI generated. The latter half of the essay is written by Chat GPT. Please rewrite the essay so that it is not detectable by AI. Also use some sources but nothing too serious it can be a quote from an interview–just make sure it backs up my thesis.

  • World War I

For this Discussion post, you will revisit Ch. 35 in the textbook and its discussion of WWI (occurred from 1914 to 1918), then you will review the following sources that will show you the variety of artifacts that exist from WWI: “Artifacts of the Great War Links to an external site.” from the Smithsonian Magazine Review the collections from The National WWI Museum and Memorial Links to an external site. University of North Texas, “The Lost Generation: World War I Poetry: World War I Artifacts” Links to an external site. US Army Corps of Engineers: “Army Engineers in the Great War–Artifacts Links to an external site.” (click on the numbers at the bottom to see all of the artifacts) The Postal Museum: “Postcards from the First World War Links to an external site.” (postcards are amazing artifacts that can include photographs, poems, and silk embroidered postcards). WWI artifacts can come in many forms: machinery/gear/equipment, fighting tools/weaponry, photographs, letters or postcards, military badges, uniforms, literature, etc…. Pick your own from your own research! Next, answers the following questions about the WWI artifact that you have selected from the above (or your own sources). Provide the following information about the artifact: What type of artifact have you selected, and what is the name/title of the artifact? If it is a piece of art, the title should be in italics. For example, the painting The Scream by Edvard Munch would have the title of the painting in italics. Who is the artist or creator of this artifact? In what year was this artifact created? Remember, if the date is estimated, then use c. or ca. for circa. What is the subject of the artifact? For example, a photo’s subject could be a family or building; a map’s subject could be a historical site. Be as specific as possible! What is the form of the artifact? What does it look like? Describe it to your fellow students who have not seen it. How does this artifact help us understand WWI? Does it allow us to understand the war from different perspectives (e.g. soldiers, loved ones, health care workers, government officials, etc…)? Does the artifact make your feel empathy for those who endured WWI? You may have to do a bit of research for some of these questions–just make sure everything is in your own words. Supply a link OR copy/paste an image of your artifact.

  • midterm 1

One of the grand and ongoing debates in the sociological analysis of social problems is the question of powerwhere it resides, how it operates, and what drives its perpetuation. Classical Marxist thinking posits that power is fundamentally rooted in economic class divisions, stemming from ownership (or lack thereof) of the means of production. From this perspective, gendered and racial inequalities are acknowledged but understood as symptoms of capitalism rather than independent forces shaping society.

On the other hand, feminist theorists and critical race theorists argue for an intersectional approach, rejecting the notion that class alone determines power. Instead, they contend that power is multidimensional, with race, gender, and class intersecting in ways that amplify oppression. Unlike the Marxists, who see racial and gender inequalities as byproducts of capitalism, intersectionality theorists insist that these are distinct and equally pernicious systems of domination, each contributing uniquely to the broader landscape of social inequality.

The task before you is this: Which side of this debate do you align with, and why? Your paper must take a clear stance, argue it convincingly, and support your position with evidence from class materials. This is a critical paper, not a descriptive onemeaning you are expected to engage with the debate, not merely summarize the two sides.

A well-organized paper is a pleasure to read, so I strongly encourage you to plan your argument carefully, structuring your work with headings and subheadings where appropriate. The expected length is approximately 10 pages, though quality reigns supremeso if you are a page or two under or over, no alarms will be raised.

Above all, demonstrate critical thinking. Engage with the theories, wrestle with their implications, and show that you have thought deeply about the nature of power in society.

Best of luck. I look forward to reading your work.

  • Collection Of Sources: finding & summarizing credible Source…

    Overview

In this assignment, you will create a collection of sources in preparation for your project, an Advocacy Action Plan that investigates and outlines the historical foundations of a social movement and an affiliated interest group of your choosing. Creating a collection of sources will help you investigate your chosen social movement and affiliated interest group, explain strategies used by your chosen movement and interest group to advocate for change, and advocate for social change. Taking this step to briefly summarize each source and consider how it relates to your project will ensure you have collected credible sources that will support your ideas. Sometimes this step is called creating an annotated bibliography, and the analysis of each source is called an annotation.

    Directions

Review the Project Guidelines and Rubric linked in the Supporting Materials section below. The final project requires you to include at least five sources. For this assignment, you will identify a collection of sources that will be used in your project. Out of your five sources, at least two must come from the Shapiro Library. It is important to understand and acknowledge the views of the opposition so that you are both well-informed and able to defend your position. Therefore, at least one of your sources must be in opposition to your viewpoint.

You can include sources from the Library Resource and your own independent research. At this stage, it is helpful to include a larger collection of sources to help you develop your research. Ensure you use resources from diverse perspectives, which means that you should be looking for sources whose authors come from a variety of backgrounds and represent different viewpoints. Having different perspectives also means recognizing how the authors background may influence the content. Consider using sources from a mix of different cultures, genders, socioeconomic backgrounds, educational backgrounds, or political affiliations to ensure that a variety of voices are included.

Then create annotations for each of the sources. In each annotation, you will summarize the source, evaluate the sources credibility, and explain how the source is relevant to the social movement and affiliated interest group that you chose for your project. Consider how you can use the SIFT method in the course Library Resource as you evaluate the credibility of your sources. Also, think about how you can prevent bias, misinformation, or disinformation from impacting your research. Refer to the APA Style Guide for details on how to provide a citation entry for the source.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

    1. Sources: Provide at least five sources, including at least two from the Shapiro Library, and at least one that is in opposition to your position.
    2. Citation Entries: Provide APA-style citation entries for at least five sources that would appear in your References list.
    3. Summary: Provide a brief summary of each source. Include your responses to the following questions:
    4. What is the main idea?
    5. What are two to three key points?
    6. Credibility: Evaluate the credibility of each source. Consider the following questions:
    7. Does the source have a reliable reputation?
    8. When was the source published? Is it up-to-date with the latest information?
    9. Who is the author? Does the author have expertise in the topic? What are the authors credentials?
    10. What is the bias in the source?
    11. Relevant: Explain how the source is relevant to the social movement and affiliated interest group.
    12. Perspective: Determine how the perspective of each source contributes to an understanding of the social movement and affiliated interest group.

    What to Submit

Use the to create your collection of sources and submit it for grading. Your submission should be a 2- to 3-page Microsoft Word document with 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, and one-inch margins. Use five sources, with at least two of those sources coming from the Shapiro Library. Sources should be cited according to APA style both throughout and at the end of your collection of sources.
