  • Case Study Presentation

The purpose of this assignment is to present a case study of a client system. Learners will describe, thoroughly assess, devise an intervention plan, and evaluate services rendered. Each learner will create a 20-25 minute presentation based on a client or community served at their practicum site. Successful case studies will address the following: Description of the client Assessment at micro, mezzo, and macro levels Development of an intervention plan Intervention Termination and evaluation of services Describe the achieved, intended, and/or unintended outcome(s). Analyze and describe any barriers to implementation. Provide two critical thinking questions as a basis for class discussion.
  • Theoretical Perspectives PowerPoint

In your own words, explain what the theory means to you. To set up your explanation, you may cite the definition found in the book and then report your interpretation of the theory. (slide 1) Your interpretation will include an example of how the theory can be interpreted. Your example may be taken from popular culture, the news, your family… It should be an example that helps you explain how the theory can be interpreted. In Chapter 2, you will read that the author used the case study as an example in the seven primary theoretical sections to explain how the theory would be used to explain an aspect of the case study. For example, the movie, Mean Girls, may be used to explain Conflict Theory; you will explain how the movie explains the theory. (Slide 2) Using 3 of the 5 criteria for evaluating theory found in your text, you will report one criterium per slide. For instance, a con of Psychodynamic theory can be found under the Diversity and Power Arrangements criteria (See Hutchison, p. 45). Using the questions found under this criterion, you can report your answers on the PowerPoint slide. For example, the author suggests psychodynamic theory has traditionally reflected a white, middle-class, European male perspective. How is that theory inclusive and helps us to understand diversity? Since you are evaluating the theory, you will then respond with a critical analysis of the theory. (Slide 3-5) You will then report a True/False statement based on your presentation. You should also include the answer and explain the reason for the answer. (Slide 6) The last slide will be the reference page which will include your textbook and one academic reference. An academic reference can be from an academic journal or book, and you can use the Library Resources found under the Resource tab for assistance. The reference page should be in APA format. (Slide 7) Spelling and Grammar: students are expected to use proper grammar in the presentation and have no spelling errors in the PowerPoint.

  • Ecological systems theory application to a case study from E…

Applying a particular theoretical approach to a case is always part of a larger contextin a general sense, who are the clients you are serving? What are the characteristics of the environment in which you work? Given that, what theoretical framework will work best? Do you need flexibility, or a laser-sharp focus? In this assignment, you will have an opportunity to answer those questions. Do careful research and support your conclusions with relevant evidence. By successfully completing this assignment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following CSWE EPAS competencies and behaviors: CSWE EPAS Competency 4: Engage in practice-informed research and research-informed practice. C4.GP.B: Apply critical thinking to engage in analysis of quantitative and qualitative research methods and research findings. Related assignment criterion: Explain the key components of ecological systems theory to apply to the assessment, intervention, and evaluation of a chosen case study. CSWE EPAS Competency 6: Engage with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. C9.GP.B: Apply knowledge of human behavior and the social environment, person-in-environment, and other multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks in the evaluation of outcomes. Related assignment criteria: Evaluate a chosen intervention. Assignment Description In the Week 3 assignment, you identified and analyzed a specific developmental theory to apply to a case study from a chosen film. In this assignment, you will build on the work you have done by analyzing ecological systems theory and deciding on an actual application from a person-in-environment perspective. As with last time, it is vital to support the application of your chosen theory with scholarly research in the Capella library. The following resources may be useful as you research and write your assignment: Social Work Bachelor’s Program Library Guide Links to an external site.. Evidence and APA Links to an external site.. Writing Center Links to an external site.. Assignment Instructions Make sure that you are introducing your chosen character and provide an explanation of their presenting problem from your chosen case study. The bullet points below correspond to grading criteria in the rubric. You may also want to read the rubric to better understand the performance levels that relate to each grading criterion. For this assignment, complete the following: Explain the key components of ecological systems theory to apply to the assessment, intervention, and evaluation of your chosen case study. Which aspects ecological systems theory are the most applicable and relevant to your chosen case study? How can ecological systems theory be integrated into assessment, intervention, and evaluation for your chosen character from the case study? Make sure you cite appropriate and relevant scholarly and professional resources to support your explanation. Assess the chosen character from the person-in-environment perspective. For a person-in-environment perspective, you might want to ask yourself the following questions. What systems provide the client support? What systems may be hindering the client? Systems to consider include family, friends, work, social services, politics, religion, goods and services, and educational systems. Include your chosen character’s intersectionality in your assessment. Describe an intervention based on ecological systems theory that is applicable and relevant to the chosen character. Discuss two short-term and two long-term goals for the client by applying systems theory to contextualize the appropriateness of your chosen intervention. Consider how to make the intervention appropriate for diverse clients. Make sure you cite appropriate and relevant scholarly and professional resources to support your intervention. Evaluate the chosen intervention. Evaluate the strengths and limitations of the intervention from an ecological systems perspective. Describe the benefits of an ecological systems perspective within the context of personal social work practice. Note how this perspective can guide social work practice when engaging with diverse individuals and families.
