  • CLASSIFICATION OF YOUNG AND MIDDLE ADULTHOOD

Learning Resources Required Readings Zastrow, C. H., Kirst-Ashman, K. K., & Hessenauer, S. L. (2019). Understanding human behavior and the social environment (11th ed.). Cengage Learning. Chapter 10, “Biological Aspects of Young and Middle Adulthood” (pp. 455484) Levine, M. E., & Crimmins, E. M. (2018). Is 60 the new 50? Examining changes in biological age over the past two decades. Demography , 55 (2), 387402. When did you become an adult? Was it the day you turned 18, the day you graduated high school, or the day you moved out of your parents’ or caregivers’ home? The authors of your course text, Zastrow et al., use the term young adulthood for ages 18 to 30, and middle adulthood for ages 30 to 65. Are these young and middle adulthood classifications useful? How do they compare to your own unique experience at these life stages? Indeed, your description of what it means to be an adult and how and when an adolescent transitions into adulthood may differ from that of Zastrow et al.and from your colleagues. For this Discussion, you analyze the author’s classifications of young and middle adulthood and consider how diversity might influence the common experience. Review the assigned chapter of the course text, paying close attention to Zastrow et al.s classifications of young and middle adulthood. Reflect on your own experiences in these time periods and consider the extent to which Zastrow et al.s description applies to you Analyze Zastrow et al.s classification of young and/or middle adulthood in the context of your own experience. How does the classification align with your own development during this time period? If your experience is different, why might this be? In particular, consider how the diverse aspects of your identity might impact your experience.
  • 566: Module 7 Discussion: Barriers

Topic: Why do domestic violence victims stay?As you reflect on the readings and the video, what barriers do victims/survivors of IPV face – consider micro, meso, and macro level factors, and barriers that may be faced when identifying an abusive situation, leaving, seeking support, etc. Please look at this question also with an intersectional lens – how are barriers further compounded when we consider race, class, sexuality and/or gender (or other factors – please identify)? How might you, as a social worker, in your current field agency or within a field you hope to be in, in the future, address barriers? Does your agency already do this, or is there work to be done, and if so, how might you become further involved?

Responses: once the writing part is done, I will send the 1 peer post for you to respond too.

  • Week 8: Concept Map: innovative solutions

You have been asked to develop a recommendation on how to enhance innovative technology approaches to address community issues. You will explore new technologies or techniques for your organization or community and identify gaps in services to meet the needs of the at-risk population of your choice. You will list more than one client system, such as families and groups, or groups and organizations, and examine which technologies and innovative practices are useful to all of your client systems and which technology and innovative applications might better meet your client systems’ needs. You will create a concept map and analysis summary to develop these recommendations. In your map, include your client systems and the community issue they face, explore forms of technology used to support the client systems or programs to support these clients, and provide a recommendation of an innovative form of technology. Include an assessment of that technology’s benefits, ethical considerations, cultural and diversity considerations, barriers, and potential benefits. Please refer to the following for an example of a completed concept map: Concept Map. Instructions 1 In the concept map, provide at a minimum: The client system you are addressing. The community issues the clients face. A minimum of three forms of technology that could support the client’s systems or agencies providing services to the clients. A recommendation of at least one of these forms of technology with evidence on why you are making that recommendation. 2 You will then provide a 23 page, APA-formatted analysis summary (on a Word document) that expands on the concept map. This analysis should include a justification of the recommendations to support more than one mezzo-level client system, such as families and groups, groups and organizations, or organizations and communities. In your justification, include ethical and cultural, diversity, equity, and inclusion considerations, research-based limitations and potential benefits, and leadership strategies to implement this innovative technology. • Week 8

As social workers, we are called upon to lead change at various levels. Creating a change plan for an organization, community, or any problem involves understanding the interconnectedness of various elements within a system, in other words, how changes in one part can affect the whole. For this assignment you will choose a specific systems theory and use its primary concepts to create a plan with a goal and SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) objectives. Examples of SMART objectives are: Specific: Reduce the time spent on administrative tasks by 20%. Measurable: Track time spent on administrative tasks for a baseline and after implementing changes. Achievable: Implement a new project management tool to streamline administrative tasks. Relevant: Reducing administrative tasks will free up more time for core work, improving productivity. Time-bound: Achieve this reduction within the next quarter. Because systems theories focus on the interconnections between systems, they frame change well and can help to ensure your change plan is effective and sustainable. Instructions Create a plan for change using the Change Plan Template [DOCX] ( ). Define an area of social work practice that needs improvement. Choose one of the systems theories and define concepts that can be used to address this area of practice. Determine how those concepts can be operationalized and used to create positive change in social work practice. Create 35 SMART objectives that will determine if the plan for change is successful. Additional Requirements To achieve a successful assignment outcome, you are also expected to meet the following requirements. References: You must support your statements with at least 57 scholarly sources (which may include your text and required readings). The Social Work Doctoral Program Library Guide Links to an external site. ( )can help you get started on this research. APA Style: Use current APA style in-text and in the reference list at the end of the paper. Use Academic Writer Links to an external site. ( )for guidance in citing sources in proper APA style. See the Writing Center Links to an external site. ( )for more APA resources specific to your degree level. Competencies Measured By successfully completing this assignment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and rubric criteria: Competency 2: Appraise theories, perspectives, and models for relevance and evaluate the strengths and barriers related to their application to practice. Discuss the overall goal. Develop three SMART objectives to accomplish the goal. Competency 3: Critically self-reflect and identify with a specific theoretical orientation related to practice, as well as recognize and respect others choice of theoretical orientation. Define the problem using scholarly support. Competency 4: Evaluate leadership theories and models and justify their application to social work practice. Provide a summary overview of the chosen systems theory, using scholarly support. Describe, using scholarly support, 35 concepts from the chosen systems theory. Competency 5: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and consistent with the e xpectations for members of the social work profession. Convey purpose in an appropriate tone and style, incorporating supporting evidence and adhering to organizational, professional, and scholarly writing standards.
