  • Visual Neglect in Right Hemisphere Damage- Case Study

StudyW6 Discussion Question 1: Visual Neglect in Right Hemisphere Damage- Case Study

Purpose: Apply what you have mastered to a clinical situation, gain an appreciation for how it might present clinically, and analyze the effects of neurological impairment on a patient or clients daily life.

Initial Post (due Friday by 11:59 pm CST): Use the following scenario for this weeks discussion post. Optional AI use for brainstorming is warranted for this submission (read below).

Meet Mr. Thompson, a 72-year-old retired architect who recently experienced a right-hemisphere stroke. He appears alert and oriented, but during meals he consistently leaves food on the left side of his plate. When reading, he misses the beginning of each line. He also bumps into objects on his left side and becomes frustrated when others “move things” that were never moved at all. His speech is fluent, but he has difficulty maintaining a topic and often seems unaware of these issues.

For this discussion, respond to the following:

    1. What is the specific site of lesion of Mr. Thompson’s stroke?
    2. Based on this case, how would you define left visual neglect, and how is it typically associated with right hemisphere damage?
    3. Identify at least two ways visual neglect might impact Mr. Thompsons daily life or safety, particularly in communication and functional tasks.
    4. What screening tool or informal method would you use to assess visual neglect in a patient like Mr. Thompson? Why?
    5. Describe one evidence-based therapeutic strategy or compensatory technique you could use in intervention. How would you introduce and implement it with Mr. Thompson?

(Optional) If you used AI (e.g., ChatGPT) to help you explore this topic or brainstorm ideas, briefly share what you asked, what it returned, and how helpful or accurate you found it. Also include the AI output/results (pasted on to a word document, as an appendix to your post and not included within word count), once generated.

Be sure to support your response with information from the weeks readings and resources. Your initial post should be 300-350 words.

Remember to follow the . Use the for in-text citations and include a minimum of two references from .

  • Capstone

I need to create a capstone research project for my Special Education/Curriculum and Instruction Master’s program. The research paper needs to be around 70 pages in length and in APA 7th edition format. The topic is “The Impact of Technology in the Special Education Classrooms on Student Engagement, Learning Outcomes, and Teacher Effectiveness”. The paper needs to include 25 sources APA 7th edition sources, which I included for you to use! I also started some of the paper and added the headings that were used on the example one my professor posted, so that way it can be a “roadmap” of what needs to be done. If anything I already added is not good or does not go with what you are writing please feel free to change it!! I am not stuck on anything besides the topic.

The most important part, the paper will be turned in using the “TURNITIN” software so it cannot have any plagarism or AI usage as it will be ran through a professional data base.

  • Assignment 2

PRISE or the Parental Rights in Special Education provides guidance to families on the special education process. This assignment will require a review of PRISE followed by answering the provided questions. New Jersey Administrative Code for special education (N.J.A.C. 6A:14) and the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004 (IDEA 2004) are laws that ensure children with disabilities receive a free, appropriate education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE). An important part of these laws provides parents with the right to participate in their childrens education.

You and representatives of the LEA are team members who are responsible for developing an appropriate educational program for your child. The PRISE booklet describes the state and federal laws affecting the provision of special education to help you understand your rights in the special education process. With this knowledge, you will be prepared to take an active role in your childs education.

The PRISE booklet has been developed by the OSE, in an effort to provide the most comprehensive and up-to-date information. The document is periodically revised to reflect changes in the law, provide additional information that would be of use to you, and to provide the information in a more clear and concise manner.

Review the various sections of PRISE and answer the following questions. Please summarize the

information provided in PRISE. NO NOT COPY PRISE!

    1. What happens when a referral is made?
