Research question: How have U.S. sanctions and other forms of external economic pressure affected inflation, shortages, and living standards for everyday people in Cuba?

This question focuses on a clear cause-and-effect relationship by investigation how external pressure influences economic outcomes that have a direct impact on everyday life in Cuba, such as prices, access to basic goods, and quality of life.

I will compare three key periods of heightened external pressure on Cuba:

    • The post-Cold War Special Period of the 1990s
    • The tightening of U.S. sanctions in the early 2000s
    • The re-imposition and expansion of sanctions after 2017

By analyzing/investigating economic indicators, policy changes, and reporting on living conditions across these cases, this approach allows evaluation on how variations in external pressure match with changes in inflation, shortages, and living standards.

Question #1: What is the fall rate at XXX hospital?

    1. What information does the team need to address the question? Where will they get it?

    Information needed:

    • Total number of patient falls on the telemetry unit
    • Total number of patient-days during the defined time period
    • Number of falls with injury
    • Fall risk scores for patients (e.g., Morse Fall Scale or facility-specific tool)
    • Identification of high-risk patients
    • Documentation of modifiable risk factors (medications, mobility status, cognition, toileting needs)
    • Staff compliance with the new fall prevention protocol

Where the team will obtain the information:

    • Electronic Health Record (EHR)
    • Hospital incident reporting system
    • Quality improvement department reports
    • Risk management database
    • Nursing documentation audits
    • Pharmacy records (for high-risk medications)
    1. How will the team get the information needed to answer the question? (Methods/Tools)
    • Conduct a retrospective chart review for baseline (pre-intervention) data
    • Collect prospective data following implementation of the new protocol
    • Request fall reports and patient-day data from the quality department
    • Use EHR data extraction tools to identify fall risk scores and documentation compliance
    • Perform audits of nursing documentation to assess adherence to the communication strategy and risk assessment protocol
    • Calculate the fall rate using the formula:
    • (Number of Falls Total Patient-Days) 1,000
    1. What are the design/data collection limitations and how will they affect what the team obtains?
    • Underreporting of falls: Incident reports may not capture all falls, leading to underestimated fall rates.
    • Inconsistent documentation: Variability in charting practices may affect accuracy of risk assessments and protocol compliance data.
    • Small sample size: Data from a single telemetry unit may limit generalizability.
    • Confounding variables: Changes in staffing ratios, patient acuity, or census could influence fall rates independent of the intervention.
    • Hawthorne effect: Staff awareness of monitoring may temporarily improve compliance and artificially lower fall rates.
    • Short evaluation period: Limited post-intervention timeframe may not reflect long-term sustainability.
    1. What are the expected results of the work?
    • Reduction in overall fall rate (falls per 1,000 patient-days)
    • Decrease in falls among high-risk patients
    • Improved compliance with fall risk assessments and documentation
    • Better identification and management of modifiable risk factors
    • Reduction in fall-related injuries
  • Premature ejaculation

  • Sociology of Deviance Short Essay #3 (Upper Division Course…

Assignment instructions: In a short essay (800 words minimum, no maximum), respond to the following prompt/question(s):

Is racism deviant in the United States? In your response to this question, incorporate the reserve readings by Amaya and by Speed, as well as at least two other reserve readings from any point in the course.

For written assignments, please use double-spacing, 12-point font, and insert page numbers. No particular essay style is required, but your papers should involve paragraphs, rather than notes. When citing materials, you may use any academic citation style (e.g. APA, MLA, ASA), as long as you use it consistently. You must cite all sources used. You may use footnotes, endnotes, or in-text citations with a bibliography, to cite your sources. Uploads may be in PDF or Word only. Bruin Learn will not open documents uploaded in Pages, or other alternate word processing software.

Important: No assignments have hidden or unstated requirements not indicated explicitly in the syllabus, or in the assignment in Bruin Learn. There are no requirements regarding writing style or tone, and no formatting requirements besides those listed in this syllabus. Grammar and writing skill are not part of the grading criterion, although proofreading is recommended. All students are invited to make a free appointment with the UC Writing Center for assistance in developing your writing ability.

Per the UC Code of Conduct, plagiarism is a form of academic misconduct. Incidents of plagiarism may be reported to the College, and may be subject to further discipline. Assignments containing plagiarized material will not receive any credit. Plagiarism includes submitting the work of someone else, adopting language from another published work without quotations and attribution (citations), using artificial intelligence software to write for you or to re-write/edit your work, or resubmitting your own work for two different assignments. In this course, students are discouraged from using any software that includes an AI component that changes wording, including Grammarly or translation software that combines translation with AI re-writing.

My instructions: It is extremely important that you ensure that this assignment is completely “human” created (under 10% on GPTZero and Turnitin) as this professor is very strict with the usage of AI, including basic grammarly edits. Please also ensure that there is absolutely zero plagrism or AI used and that is the number one priority. Also, please ensure that you properly answer each part of the prompt properly using the required course materials which I have attached. I have attached 4 reading materials from the course which you must incorporate within the short essay. I’ve also attached a previous short essay that I’ve written on a seperate topic for this course to give you an idea of what my voice sounds like, so that the professor doesn’t see a major difference in the way we write. Try your best to match my voice and use statements like “I’, “me” “I believe”, etc to ensure that it really has a personal human feel to it rather than just explanatory based. Also, remember that this a Sociology of Deviance Upper Division Course at the UC level, so please address the prompt in a sociological perspective using the necessary materials based on this context. Please also try to use a couple quotes with page numbers to display close analysis with the text. Thank you!
