  • The triple bottom line

Provide a one sentence company description (company name and what you are selling) before each discussion response to remind everyone of your chosen startup.

Before writing this week’s discussion posting, read the Investopedia article,

for more details on this concept. The idea behind the triple bottom line is that companies are responsible to all their stakeholders. This includes everyone involved with the company, whether directly or indirectly. It also includes the planet on which we all live.

For this week’s discussion, please respond to the following:

How would you implement the triple bottom line (profit, people, planet) concept at your chosen company? Use the subheadings below to organize your response:

    • Profit: Provide specific examples of strategies to keep the company and the community in which it operates profitable.
    • People: Describe your approach to a positive impact on each of the following categories (type your answer under each category)
    • Customers.
    • Employees.
    • For example, one way to care for employees is to provide a good working environment, training and development opportunities, and health care.
    • Community.
    • Suppliers (as applicable).
    • Planet: Explain your approach to minimizing your company’s impact on the environment, considering all aspects of your operations. For example, your company might develop a process to minimize waste or reduce energy usage, such as using recycled materials in its production process.
  • System Engineer

Human systems engineering (HSE) seeks to ensure we address human considerations within systems engineering (SE) across the whole life cycle. It is important to consider HF methods and key areas of HF knowledge within SE, these might include human physical, cognitive, social, or organisational characteristics.

    Your assignment has three part:

Part 1: Discuss the role of Human Factors (HF) modelling and HF knowledge acrossthe Systems Engineering (SE) life cycle of a complex socio technical system. You may refer to examples from your group exercise on the module or your wider reading, to help illustrate this

Part 2: As part of your answer to part 1, create at least one new HF related model view. This can be based on work done within the group exercise but should be clearly identified as a new or modified view created by you

Part 3: Write a short discussion of the following question: how do we include specialist human factors knowledge into the practice of Model Based Systems Engineering, and how is this affected by the increasing use of autonomous solution technologies?

This task requires a critical analysis of aspects of the application of human systems engineering during the development of complex socio-technical systems. In parts 1 and 2 the aim is to illustrate how HF modelling and knowledge can be integrated into SE practice. You can use the example from the group exercise, an example related to your work experience or a related case study, to illustrate your answer. Please clearly identify any views where you have expanded on the group work to help answer the question, including at least one new model view. You should be able to answer this question base on the taught material, but the inclusion of ideas from any wider reading may be used to enhance the taught material.

In part 3 you should reflect on wider issues of how HF knowledge and HF expertsintegrate with MBSE. Your answer may be based around material presented during the module but should be complimented with wider research from relevant sources. You should approach this piece of work as a critical analysis with referenced justification for your assertions/suggestions. Note, this is not an assignment on AI systems, but should focus on the challenges that such systems raise for traditional HF practise

While the question is split into three parts you should present your answer as a single essay, building on knowledge, evaluation and argument across all three parts. E.g. refer to ideas from Part 1,2 in your Part 3 discussion.

    Requirements: 3000

A medical terminology course covers root words combined with the prefixes and suffixes of the language used in healthcare. The information provided in the medical terminology course would be redundant in an A&P course. This would potentially hinder a students progression through their prerequisite courses and into their program of study. The pros of taking a medical terminology course as a prerequisite are that the information has been introduced and a basis is provided for understanding. By establishing the foundation, it could reduce some of the stress associated with introductory A&P. It could also aid students who have non-science backgrounds with foundation and make it easier to learn A&P. The cons to taking a medical terminology course are that learning the information in a separate format is not necessary. The supplied material in the text, notes, and lectures cover the introductory terms that are used throughout the course. Also, in combination with the Anatomy and Physiology Lab, the terminology covers common root words, prefixes, and suffixes. It is a part of learning Anatomy and Physiology and is similar to learning the parts of a cell or atoms and molecules which is covered in introductory chemistry and biology courses and are prerequisites to A&P. The general information and how it applies to A&P is covered in the early chapters. By making a medical terminology course as a prerequisite, the information provided would be redundant and hinder a students progress. Prompt 2 Anatomy is the study of the structure of the body parts and their relation to each other. Physiology is the study of the function of the body or how the body parts work. These are complementary topics and cannot be discussed separately. The understanding of Physiology is based in the understanding of Anatomy. Form follows the function is a theme throughout the text. The form of a cell allows it to perform specific task that then flow through the levels of structural organization. This is the basis of complementarity of structure and function which is a topic of A&P. For example, bones support and protect the organs because they contain calcium in the tissue matrix. It is possible to understand anatomy without physiology but not the opposite way around. Throughout the text, the structure of a system is studied followed by the function of that system. The system would not be able to perform its function without having the proper form. If there are issues in the function, it would result in the function not being performed as intended. You can also understand the structure but you cannot understand the function without know what the structure is. These are taught as one class instead of separately because the structure and function are connected. Much of the material that is used to teach one section would then need to be used to teach the next and could be redundant. It could also increase the understanding of A&P if the structure was first explained followed by the function connecting the two. ——————————————————————————- NEW Sarah Monahan Feb 10, 2026 10:02 AM NEW Prompt 1: I do think it would be beneficial to take the Medical Terminology course as a pre-requisite to Anatomy and Physiology. Understanding the root words of many of the Anatomy and Physiology terms can give the student a head start in learning new terminology. For example, the root tars/o means ankle, and in Anatomy and Physiology you learn the word tarsal for ankle. In the Medical Terminology course, you learn how to dissect words to understand their meaning. You learn to break apart words down to their root, suffixes, and prefixes which each have their own medical meaning. This gives you an enormous advantage in the Anatomy and Physiology course since you are learning a large amount of new words that some students have never seen before. For a beginner student, I think it would be valuable to build a strong foundation of terminology before taking the Anatomy and Physiology course. These are words that are brand new to some students. Having more experience and practice using these words contributes to faster reading and cognition of the material required in Anatomy and Physiology. I do not believe there are any cons to taking Medical Terminology before Anatomy and Physiology. Although it is understandable if a students schedule or budget prevents it. There are many students preparing for specialized medical training that must take classes at certain times in order to get into their program. I took Medical Terminology before taking Anatomy and Physiology, so I can apply for the Occupational Therapy Assistant program in the fall of 2027. Prompt 2: Anatomy studies the structure of the body parts and their relationship to each other. Physiology studies the actual function of these body parts including what they do, how they work, and their survival. Structure and function cannot exist without one another as described in a concept called Complementarity of Structure and Function. An organ such as the heart cannot function properly without its specific structure. It is much more efficient to learn function along with structure. These structures in our body perform very specific functions to keep us in a state called homeostasis. I believe it is best to learn physiology with anatomy. These are complex processes that would not be possible without the many intricate organ systems in our bodies. Anatomy and Physiology are taught together, so the student can learn what these structures do. I suppose it would be possible to learn all of the body parts through simple memorization, but the student would be ignoring the intricate inner workings of the human body. It would not take very long to learn what the lung looks like and where it is located in the body, but learning about breathing and the chemical reactions required to expand and contract the muscles would help the medical student understand and address any problems that arise with the lung. The lungs and the entire respiratory system work in conjunction with many other systems in the body. The student must understand how the entire body works together in order to solve health problems. If we dont know how it works, how can we fix it? ——————————————————————————- NEW Britton Koontz Feb 9, 2026 11:11 PM NEW PROMPT 1 I do not believe Medical Terminology should be a prerequisite before taking Anatomy and Physiology. Although it would have its benefits, adults know what they are getting themselves into when they enroll in this course. Anatomy and physiology are widely known to be challenging, and students should be allowed to decide for themselves how best to prepare. While it should absolutely be advertised that taking Medical Terminology first can help students succeed in Anatomy and Physiology, making it a requirement is excessive. Adding a prerequisite increases both the time and financial commitment required for students to complete their degree. For many families, the cost of college is already a significant financial burden, and requiring an additional course only adds to that strain. This can also delay a students progress in entering their desired program on time. Since not all students who take Anatomy and Physiology plan to pursue a medical career, a required Medical Terminology course may not be necessary for everyone. Without question, Medical Terminology would offer several benefits prior to taking Anatomy and Physiology. Having a baseline understanding of medical terminology can help students focus more on how the body functions rather than struggling with unfamiliar and overwhelming terms being introduced throughout the course. Although Medical Terminology can be a helpful resource before taking Anatomy and Physiology, it should remain optional rather than mandatory. This allows students to make informed decisions about their education while still having access to resources that support their success. PROMPT 2 Anatomy is the study of the body’s structure and its parts. Physiology is the study of how the human body and its parts function. Both branches of science explain how the human body is built and how it functions. According to the complementarity of structure and function, function always reflects structure. To understand how the body works, you must first know what the structure is and where it is located. For example, the structure of a muscle allows it to contract and produce movement, while the structure of the heart enables it to pump blood efficiently. This is why Anatomy and Physiology are taught together, because studying them side by side allows students to connect the structure of body parts with the functions they perform. Without learning anatomy alongside physiology, students would lack the necessary structural context needed to fully understand physiological processes. ——————————————————————————- i need 3 responses to these students ——————————————————————————- What do you think is most important to a speech’s effectiveness, the introduction, conclusion, or both?
